BC. It was made Indias 25th State on 30th May 1987, the Largest city of Goa is
Vasco da Gama. Goa is also termed as Gomanchala, Gopakapattam etc.
historical name of Goa is Sindapur, Sandapur and Mahassapatam.In 1510,
Portuguese defeated the ruling Bijapur sultan Yusuf Adil shah and settle in
permanently in Goa and ruled 450 Years(1510-1961).

for its white-sand beaches, World Heritage Structure, Nightlife and place of
worship.
The head of the bureaucracy of the state is the chief secretary. Under this position, is a hierarchy
of officials drawn from the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, Indian Forest
Service, and different wings of the state civil services. The judiciary is headed by the Chief
Justice. Goa has a High Court which has been functioning June 26, 1862, since. All the branches

Education
Goa state as the Indias earliest educational institutions built by the support of
Europeans. Medical education in Goa has begun in 1801 at Royal and Military
Hospital in the old city of Goa. Goa has Asia’s oldest medical college as Goa
