CIT 2105: Internet Technologies

Pre-requisites: None
Purpose
To equip the trainee with knowledge, skills and attitudes to develop functional website and use
internet based programs.
Expected Learning Outcomes of the Course
By the end of this course unit, the learner should be able to:
1. Describe the Internet technology.
2. Develop Internet-based applications.
3. Discuss the role of the Webmaster in organizations.
Course Content:
Introduction to The Internet, Intranet, Roles of internet in society and Internet security.
The Historical Perspective-History of internet and www.
Internetworking Technologies: Connecting Networks to the Internet,
The Internet Architecture-Internet network hierarchy, ISP, Client server structure, web servers
and multi-tier web structures.
Types of networks; Fixed networks; Cabled network, Wireless networks; Mobile networks,
Broadband technology, WiFi and WiMax.
Internet Applications: internet protocols; FTP, WWW,Chats, News, blogs, clouds etc.
Web Development: HTML; DHTML,XHTML; XML and Macromedia applications.
