Lesson Objectives (i.e. anticipated outcomes of this lesson, in point form beginning with an action verb)
1
Teacher self-reflection and self-evaluation:
10 mins The teacher will explain that today they will be starting their design and A3 version of Blueprint
technology project. Whiteboard magnet
The teacher will explain that today they will be doing their first design of their
solar powered fan hat. Starting with a basic sketch and labelling, before they
finish their final design next lesson.
The teacher will then go through an example of one design for a solar
powered fan that they have completed before the lesson.
Whilst going through the example, the teacher will outline what the students
will be getting assessed on:
- They must have everything listed on the sheet included in their design
- The design must be labelled clearly
- The design must be presentable and easy to look at
- The design must be practical and realistic
The teacher will then ask the students if they have any questions about the
assignment before handing out the sheets for the students to start on.
1. The teacher will get some students to help hand out the work sheets
to all the students.
2. Students will glue the worksheet into their Design technologies book,
so that they do not lose their design during the project
2
students must write these ideas down as they will be drawing one
more design next lesson.
5. Once students have shared their plans and brainstormed more ideas
with a partner, students will sit down and write a paragraph describing
the features of a design plan.
At the end of the lesson, students will hand in their design technology books
so that the teacher can mark and look at their designs. The teacher will also
5 mins mark the student’s understanding of what the features of a design plan are by
reading the paragraph they wrote.
Students need to glue their designs into their book and hand the book to the
teacher so the teacher can mark the books.
Assessment: (Were the lesson objectives met? How will these be judged?)
1. The teacher will collect the students’ books at the end of the lesson to
assess the students’ descriptions and understanding. The teacher will
assess each students paragraph by using a checklist to ensure
students have included everything they need to.
2. The teacher will assess the students design and planning using a
rubric. This will ensure the teacher gives the students a clear mark
and feedback over what was required for the task and what the
students can do to improve.
