    Newly supported features and functions for Version 50-09-12-00/00

    2-1 Support TCZ initial copy for URZ initial copy
    Description This function performs True Copy for z/OS initial copy for a UR for z/OS pair in the
    suspend state, aiming to improve the performance of UR for z/OS initial copy by
    making a set of processing steps shown below as one script that is executed with a
    command issued from BCM. A set of processing steps: URZ initial copy (No copy)
    > URZ suspend > TCZ initial copy > TCZ delete > URZ resync. To use the
    function, the following P.P are required to be installed: True Copy for z/OS, True
    Copy for z/OS Asynchronous, Universal Replicator for IBM z/OS

    New System Option Mode 474 is available to use the function.


    Public Mode – No Permission Required to Use. The option must be set to ON for
    both MCU and RCU to enable the function, and set to OFF after executing the
    script.

    Note For MIRRID# of UR for z/OS, use numbers other than 0.
    When using the function in the Multi Target/ Cascade configuration, first create a
    UR for z/OS pair.

    Phenomena Although write processing of Shredding ended abnormally,
    Storage Navigator showed the results as normal except that of the
    last processing. SSB: 7b0a reported, which means some part of
    LDEV format processing ends abnormally.
    Severity (High, Medium, Low) Low
    Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs while performing Shredding with multiple
    write processes onto the HDD, and errors occur during the write
    process except for the last time.

    1. A WWN registered no longer existed.
    2. An attempt to re-register the WWN mentioned in #1 failed.

    Phenomena When a permanent failure (unable to communicate more than 3
    minutes) occurred on the line between the main and remote site of
    UR, the UR pair suspended despite system option 449 ON, which
    is used to prevent link down from being monitored.
    Severity (High, Medium, Low) Medium
    Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs with all the following conditions met.
    1. The system option 449, used to prevent link down from being
    monitored, is ON
    2. UR is in the Copy or Pair state
    3. A permanent failure (unable to communicate more than 3
    minutes) occurs on the line between the main and remote site of

    7 Performance degradation of PPRC and XRC pair


    Phenomena When comparing the performance between in PPRC configuration
    and in PPRC and XRC configuration, the response time in the
    former configuration significantly degraded. This is because the
    increase of Discount Time directly affected the performance.

    Conditions of Occurrence The problem occurs when the P-VOL of True Copy for z/OS Sync
    and the P-VOL of XRC share the same volume.
