Letter of Recommendation

Recommendation letters are letters which are specifically requested to


be written about someone.They are therefore addressed to a particular
requester.Letters of recommendation are typically related to
employment,admissions to institutions of higher education or scholarship
eligibility.

A letter of recommendation commonly mentions the


qualities,characteristics,and capalities of the person being recommended in
terms of that individual’s ability to perfrom a particular task or function.

What to include in a recommendation letter

 First paragraph
The first paragraph of the recommendation letter explains your
connection to the person you are recommending,how you know
them,and why you recommend the person for employment or the
school institution.
 Second paragraph
The second paragraph of the recommendation letter contains specific
information on the person you are writing about,why they are qualified
and what they can contribute.If necessary,provide details.
 Third paragraph
The third paragraph includes information on how the person’s skills
match the position they are applying for.

REMEMBER!

A brochure is a fyler, pamphlet or leaflet that is used to pass


information about something. Brochures are advertising items mainly used to
introduce a company or organization and inform about products and/or
services to a target audience. Brochures are distributed or handed personally
or placed in brochure racks. They are usually present also near tourist
attractions.

A flyer or flier, also called a circuler, handbill or leaflet, is a form of


paper advertisement intended for wide distribution and typically posted or
distributed in a public place or through the mail. A flyer is usually used to
promote goods or services,such as restaurants or shops,political campaign
activites on behalf of a political party or candidate,or to advertise an event
such as a music concret,festival,or political rally. Flyers are a low-cost form of
mass marketing or communication.

A pamphlet is an unbound booklet(that is,without a hard cover or


binding). It may consist of a single sheet of paper that is printed on both sides
and folded in half,in thirds,or in fourths(called a leaflet) or it may consist of a
few pages that are folded in half and saddle-stapled on the crease to make
a simple book.

Leaflets are small sheets of paper containing information which is


usually used for advertising or marketing purposes,or for supplementary
information on a product.

A garage sale (also known as attic sale,garbage sale,junk sale,lawn


sale,moving sale,patio sale,rummage sale,tag sale,thrift sale,or yard sale) is
an informal,irregularly scheduled event for the sale of used goods by private
individuals,in which sellers are not required to obtain business licenses or
collect sales tax.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR BROCHURES :

 Put a marketing message clearly (expres the main benefits and its
unique clearly).
 Describe the features (e.g. the facility and the important ingredients).
 Be persuasive (use words that sell and put them in the headline).
 Use pronoun “YOU” to refer the customers.
 Give photo and illustrations.
 Tell your readers how to buy or order the product or service.

SUMMARY

Pamphlets and brochures are promotional tools to publicly introduce a


product or service. Some keys to writing a pamphlets:

 Put your message in the headline.


 Say what your product offers to the customers.
 Use positive and emotive words.
 Use good and informative pictures.
 Provide captions or title to the pictures.
 Place the company logo,address,and contact details.

A word that describes a noun

‘big’,’boring’,’purple’,’quick’,and ‘obvious’ are all adjectives.

Preposition/noun [C]

In grammar,a word which is used before a noun or a noun


phrase,connecting it to another word.

 ‘We jumped in to a deep lake’,


 ‘She drove slowly down the long track’,
 The first female President of Indonesia after Indonesian independence.

Determiner/noun [C]

In grammar,a word which is used before a noun to show which particular


example of the noun you are referring to In the phares ‘my first boyfriend’
and ’that strange woman’,the words ‘my’ and ‘that’ are determiners.

 Preposition
Preposition comes from words ‘Pre’ and ‘Position’.

Pre means before; and Position means located at. Thus the initial meaning of
preposition is ‘located before’. According to Cambridge Advance Learner’s
Dictionary,preposition is a word which is used before a noun,or a noun phrase
connecting it to another word. In this chapter you will learn prepositions that
are placed before nouns or noun phrases.
 Determiner

In Indonesian language,a,an,the,this,that and these are called ‘kata


sandang’. They can be used to notify a noun.

A report text is used to describe the way things are,whit
reference to a range of natural,man-made and social phenomena in
our environment. It focuses on the things or phenomena in general. In
this unit,we will learnto identify report texts as well as practice to
produce your own report text.
CEILING FAN
A ceiling fan is a mechanical fan. It is usually electrically
powered and it is suspended from the ceiling of a room. It also used
hub-mounted rotating paddles to circulate air.
Ceiling fans rotate much more slowly than an electric desk
fan.Then cool people effectively by introducing slwo movement intro
the otherwise still,hot air of a room,inducing evaporative cooling.Unlike
air conditioners,fans only move air-they do not directly its
temperature.some ceiling fans have adjustable blade pitch instead of
reversible motor.

*Past perfect tense


We use the past perfect tense to refer to a situation in the past that came
before another situation in the past. The pattern is S + had + past participle.

*Present perfect continuous

We use the present perfect continuous to refer to an action happening


continuously from the past up the present. Some verbs use to discribe such a
situation are stand,watch,look for,talk,hope complain, drink,and wait. The
pattern is S + have/has + been + verb + ing.

*Future perfect tense

We use the future perfect tense to discribe an activity completed before


another activity in the future. The first activity is in the future perfect and the
second one is in the present tense. The tense uses “when”, “before”, “by the
time” in order to mark time. The pattern is S + will + have + past paticiple.

SUMMARY

Past perfect tense is used to tell an action in the past thst starts before a
situation or another action in the past.

Example : I had finished the work before 4 o’clock.

I had read 3 novels before she came.

Present perfect continuous is used to tell an action happening continuously


from the past up to the present.

Example : I have been watching all Banda FC’s matches since join its
supporter’s forum.

Future perfect tense is used to tell an action that is completed before


another action in the future.

Example : I will have driven home before you come.
