18:1 ‫ַוּי ֵָרא‬ ‫אֵ לָ יו‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ְּבאֵ נֵי‬ ‫ְוהּוא ַמ ְמ ֵרא‬ ‫יֹׁשֵ ב‬ ‫ּפֶ ַתח‬ ‫־‬

. And the LORD appeared
u·ira ali·u ieue b·alni mmra u·eua ishb phthch - unto him in the plains of
and·he-is-nappearing to·him Yahweh amongin·oaks-of Mamre and·he sitting opening-of Mamre: and he sat in the
tent door in the heat of the
‫ֹהל‬
ֶ ‫ָהא‬ ‫ְּכחֹם‬ ‫ַהּים‬ : day;
e·ael k·chm e·ium :
the·tent as·warmth-of the·day

18:2 ‫וַּיִ ּׂשָ א‬ ‫עֵ ינָיו‬ ‫ַוּי ְַרא‬ ‫ְו ִהּנֵה‬ ‫ְׁש ׁשָ ה‬ ‫אנ ִָׁשים‬
ֲ

And he lift up his eyes
u·isha oini·u u·ira u·ene shlshe anshim and looked, and, lo, three
and·he-is-lifting eyes-of·him and·he-is-seeing and·behold ! three mortals men stood by him: and
when he saw [them], he ran
‫נִ ּצָ ִבים‬ ‫עָ לָ יו‬ ‫ַוּי ְַרא‬ ‫ַוּי ָָרץ‬ ‫אתם‬
ָ ‫ִל ְק ָר‬ ‫ִמּפֶ ַתח‬ to meet them from the tent
door, and bowed himself
ntzbim oli·u u·ira u·irtz l·qrath·m m·phthch
toward the ground,
ones-being-stationed on·him and·he-is-seeing and·he-is-running to·to-meet-of·them from·opening-of

‫ֹהל‬
ֶ ‫ָהא‬ ‫וַּיִ ְׁש ַּתחּו‬ ‫אָ ְרצָ ה‬ :
e·ael u·ishthchu artz·e :
the·tent and·he-is-bowing-down-himself earth·ward

18:3 ‫ֹאמר‬
ַ ‫וַּי‬ ‫דנָי‬
ֹ ‫א‬
ֲ ‫נָא ־ ִאם‬ ‫אתי‬
ִ ָ‫ָמצ‬ ‫ֵחן‬ )‫ְּבעֵ ינֶי‬ ‫אַ ל‬ ‫נָא ־‬
3
And said, My Lord, if
u·iamr adni am - na mtzathi chn b·oini·k al - na now I have found favour in
and·he-is-saying my-Lord if please ! I-find grace in·eyes-of·you must-not-be please ! thy sight, pass not away, I
pray thee, from thy servant:
‫עבֹר‬
ֲ ‫ַת‬ ‫ֵמעַ ל‬ )‫עַ ְב ֶּד‬ :
thobr m·ol obd·k :
you-are-passing from·on servant-of·you

18:4 ‫ֻּקח‬
ַ ‫י‬ ‫נָא ־‬ ‫ְמעַ ט‬ ‫ַמיִ ם ־‬ ‫ְו ַרחֲצּו‬ ‫ַרגְ לֵ יכֶ ם‬
4
Let a little water, I pray
iqch - na mot - mim u·rchtzu rgli·km you, be fetched, and wash
he-shall-be-taken please ! little-of water and·wash-you(p) ! feet-of·you(p) your feet, and rest
yourselves under the tree:
‫ְו ִהּׁשָ עֲנּו‬ ‫ַּת ַחת‬ ‫ָהעֵ ץ‬ :
u·eshonu thchth e·otz :
and·nlean-back-you(p) ! under the·tree

18:5 ‫חה‬
ָ ‫ְואֶ ְק‬ ‫פַ ת‬ ‫לֶ ֶחם ־‬ ‫ְו ַסעֲדּו‬ ‫ִל ְּבכֶ ם‬ ‫אַ ַחר‬
5
And I will fetch a morsel
u·aqche phth - lchm u·sodu lb·km achr of bread, and comfort ye
and·I-shall-take morsel-of bread and·brace-you(p) ! heart-of·you(p) afterward your hearts; after that ye
shall pass on: for therefore
‫עבֹרּו‬
ֲ ‫ַּת‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫ֲב ְר ֶּתם עַ ל־ּכֵ ן ־‬
ַ ‫ע‬ ‫עַ ְב ְּדכֶ ם ־ עַ ל‬ ‫ֹאמרּו‬
ְ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ּכֵ ן‬ are ye come to your servant.
And they said, So do, as
thobru ki - ol-kn obrthm ol - obd·km u·iamru kn
thou hast said.
you(p)-shall-pass that on·so you(p)-pass on servant-of·you(p) and·they-are-saying so

‫ַּתעֲׂשֶ ה‬ ‫ּכַ אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫ִּד ַּב ְר ָּת‬ :

thoshe k·ashr dbrth :
you-shall-do as·which you-mspeak

18:6 ‫הר‬
ֵ ‫וַיְ ַמ‬ ‫אַ ְב ָר ָהם‬ ‫אהֱלָ ה‬
ֹ ‫ָה‬ ‫ׂשָ ָרה ־ אֶ ל‬ ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ַמה ֲִרי‬
6
And Abraham hastened
u·imer abrem e·ael·e al - shre u·iamr meri into the tent unto Sarah, and
and·he-is-mhastening Abraham the·tent·ward to Sarah and·he-is-saying mhasten-you ! said, Make ready quickly
three measures of fine meal,
‫ְׁש ׁש‬ ‫ְס ִאים‬ ‫סֹלֶ ת ֶק ַמח‬ ‫לּוׁשי‬
ִ ‫ֲׂשי‬
ִ ‫ַוע‬ ‫עֻ גת‬ : knead [it], and make cakes
upon the hearth.

three-of seahs meal flour knead-you ! and·makedo-you ! ember-cakes

18:7 ‫ְואֶ ל‬ ‫ַה ָּב ָקר ־‬ ‫ָרץ‬ ‫אַ ְב ָר ָהם‬ ‫וַּיִ ַּקח‬ ‫ֶּבן‬ ‫ ָּב ָקר ־‬5‫ַר‬ ‫וָטב‬
7
And Abraham ran unto
u·al - e·bqr rtz abrem u·iqch bn - bqr rk u·tub the herd, and fetcht a calf
and·to the·herd he-ran Abraham and·he-is-taking son-of herd tender and·good tender and good, and gave
[it] unto a young man; and
‫וַּיִ ֵּתן‬ ‫ַהּנַעַ ר ־ אֶ ל‬ ‫וַיְ ַמ ֵהר‬ ‫לַ עֲׂשת‬ ‫אֹת‬ : he hasted to dress it.

and·he-is-giving to the·lad and·he-is-mhastening to·to-makedo-of »·him

18:8 ‫וַּיִ ַּקח‬ ‫ֶח ְמאָ ה‬ ‫ְו ָחלָ ב‬ ‫ּובן‬

ֶ ‫ַה ָּב ָקר ־‬ ‫אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫עָ ׂשָ ה‬

And he took butter, and
u·iqch chmae u·chlb u·bn - e·bqr ashr oshe milk, and the calf which he
and·he-is-taking clotted-cream and·milk and·son-of the·herd which he-madedo had dressed, and set [it]
before them; and he stood
‫וַּיִ ֵּתן‬ ‫ֵיהם‬
ֶ ‫ִל ְפנ‬ ‫ְוהּוא‬ ‫עֹ ֵמד ־‬ ‫יהם‬
ֶ ֵ‫עֲל‬ ‫ַּת ַחת‬ ‫ָהעֵ ץ‬ ‫וַּי ֹאכֵ לּו‬ : by them under the tree, and
they did eat.

and·he-is-giving to·faces-of·them and·he standing on·them under the·tree and·they-are-eating

18:9 ‫ֹאמרּו‬
ְ ‫וַּי‬ ‫אֵ לָ יו‬ ‫אַ ּיֵה‬ ‫ׂשָ ָרה‬ )‫ִא ְׁש ֶּת‬ ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ִהּנֵה‬

. And they said unto him,
u·iamru ali·u aie shre ashth·k u·iamr ene Where [is] Sarah thy wife?
and·they-are-saying to·him where ? Sarah woman-of·you and·he-is-saying behold ! And he said, Behold, in the
tent.

18:10 ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ׁשב‬ ‫אָ ׁשּוב‬ )‫אֵ לֶ י‬ ‫ּכָ עֵ ת‬ ‫ַחּיָה‬ ‫ְו ִהּנֵה‬ ‫ֵבן ־‬

And he said, I will
u·iamr shub ashub ali·k k·oth chie u·ene - bn certainly return unto thee
and·he-is-saying to-return I-shall-return to·you as·the·season-of living and·behold ! son according to the time of
life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife
‫ְלׂשָ ָרה‬ )‫ִא ְׁש ֶּת‬ ‫ְוׂשָ ָרה‬ ‫ׁש ַמעַ ת‬
ֹ ‫ּפֶ ַתח‬ ‫ֹהל‬
ֶ ‫ָהא‬ ‫ְוהּוא‬ ‫אַ ח ֲָריו‬ : shall have a son. And Sarah
heard [it] in the tent door,

which [was] behind him.

18:11 ‫הם‬
ָ ‫ְואַ ְב ָר‬ ‫ְוׂשָ ָרה‬ ‫זְ ֵקנִ ים‬ ‫ָּב ִאים‬ ‫ַּבּי ִָמים‬ ‫ָח ַדל‬ ‫ִל ְהית‬ ‫ְלׂשָ ָרה‬

Now Abraham and Sarah
u·abrem u·shre zqnim baim b·imim chdl l·eiuth l·shre [were] old [and] well
and·Abraham and·Sarah old-ones ones-coming in·the·days he-left-off to·to-become-of to·Sarah stricken in age; [and] it
ceased to be with Sarah
‫ּכַ ּנ ִָׁשים א ַֹרח‬ : after the manner of women.

ִ ‫ְב‬

Therefore Sarah laughed
u·thtzchq shre b·qrb·e l·amr achri blth·i within herself, saying, After
and·she-is-laughing Sarah in·within-of·her to·to-say-of after to-wear-out-of·me I am waxed old shall I have
pleasure, my lord being old
‫ָהיְ ָתה‬ ‫ִּלי ־‬ ‫עֶ ְדנָה‬ ‫וַאדֹנִ י‬ ‫ז ֵָקן‬ : also?
eithe - l·i odne u·adn·i zqn :
she-becomes to·me luxury and·lord-of·me he-is-old

18:13 ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫אַ ְב ָר ָהם ־ אֶ ל‬ ‫לָ ָּמה‬ ‫ּזֶה‬ ‫ֲקה‬
ָ ‫צָ ח‬ ‫ׂשָ ָרה‬ ‫לֵ אמֹר‬
13
And the LORD said unto
u·iamr ieue al - abrem l·me ze tzchqe shre l·amr Abraham, Wherefore did
and·he-is-saying Yahweh to Abraham to·what ? this she-laughed Sarah to·to-say-of Sarah laugh, saying, Shall I
of a surety bear a child,
‫ַהאַ ף‬ ‫אֻ ְמנָם‬ ‫אֵ לֵ ד‬ ‫ַואֲנִ י‬ ‫ז ַָקנְ ִּתי‬ : which am old?
e·aph amnm ald u·ani zqnthi :
?·indeed truly I-shall-give-birth and·I I-am-old

18:14 ‫היִ ּפָ לֵ א‬

ֲ ‫ֵמיְ הוָה‬ ‫ָּד ָבר‬ ‫לַ ּמעֵ ד‬ ‫אָ ׁשּוב‬ )‫אֵ לֶ י‬

Is any thing too hard for
e·iphla m·ieue dbr l·muod ashub ali·k the LORD? At the time
?·he-shall-be-nmarvelous from·Yahweh matter to·the·appointed-time I-shall-return to·you appointed I will return unto
thee, according to the time
‫ּכָ עֵ ת‬ ‫ַחּיָה‬ ‫ּולׂשָ ָרה‬
ְ ‫ ֵבן‬: of life, and Sarah shall have
a son.

18:15 ‫חׁש‬
ֵ ַ‫ו ְַּתכ‬ ‫ׂשָ ָרה‬ ‫לֵ אמֹר‬ ‫ל ֹא‬ ‫צָ ַח ְק ִּתי‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫י ֵָראָ ה‬ ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬

Then Sarah denied,
u·thkchsh shre l·amr la tzchqthi ki irae u·iamr saying, I laughed not; for
and·she-is-mdissimulating Sarah to·to-say-of not I-laughed that she-feared and·he-is-saying she was afraid. And he said,
Nay; but thou didst laugh.
‫ל ֹא‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫צָ ָח ְק ְּת‬ :

18:16 ‫ָקמּו‬
ֻ ‫ַוּי‬ ‫ִמּׁשָ ם‬ ‫אנ ִָׁשים‬
ֲ ‫ָה‬ ‫ַׁש ִקפּו‬
ְ ‫ַוּי‬ ‫ְּפנֵי ־ עַ ל‬ ‫ְסדֹם‬

. And the men rose up
u·iqmu m·shm e·anshim u·ishqphu ol - phni sdm from thence, and looked
and·they-are-arising from·there the·mortals and·they-are-cgazing on faces-of Sodom toward Sodom: and
Abraham went with them to
‫ְואַ ְב ָר ָהם‬ 5 ֵ‫הֹל‬ ‫ִע ָּמם‬ ‫ְלׁשַ ְּל ָחם‬ : bring them on the way.

18:17 ‫וַיהָה‬ ‫אָ ָמר‬ ‫ַה ְמכַ ֶּסה‬ ‫אֲנִ י‬ ‫ֵמאַ ְב ָר ָהם‬ ‫אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫אֲנִ י‬ ‫עֹ ׂשֶ ה‬ :

And the LORD said,
u·ieue amr e·mkse ani m·abrem ashr ani oshe : Shall I hide from Abraham
and·Yahweh he-said ?·mcovering I from·Abraham which I doing that thing which I do;

18:18 ‫הם‬
ָ ‫ְואַ ְב ָר‬ ‫ָהי‬ ‫יִ ְהיֶה‬ ‫ְלגי‬ ‫ּגָדל‬ ‫ְועָ צּום‬ ‫ְונִ ְב ְרכּו‬

Seeing that Abraham
u·abrem eiu ieie l·gui gdul u·otzum u·nbrku shall surely become a great
and·Abraham to-become he-shall-become to·nation great and·staunch and·they-are-blessed and mighty nation, and all
the nations of the earth shall
‫ב‬ ‫ּכֹל‬ ‫ּגיֵי‬ ‫ָהאָ ֶרץ‬ : be blessed in him?

in·him all-of nations-of the·earth

18:19 ‫ִּכי‬ ‫יְ ַד ְע ִּתיו‬ ‫ְל ַמעַ ן‬ ‫אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫יְ צַ ּוֶה‬ ‫ָּבנָיו ־ אֶ ת‬ ‫ְואֶ ת‬ ‫־‬

For I know him, that he
ki idothi·u lmon ashr itzue ath - bni·u u·ath - will command his children
that I-know·him in-order-to which he-shall-minstruct » sons-of·him and·» and his household after him,
and they shall keep the way
‫ֵּבית‬ ‫אַ ח ֲָריו‬ ‫ְוׁשָ ְמרּו‬ 5‫ֶּד ֶר‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫לַ עֲׂשת‬ ‫ְצ ָד ָקה‬ ‫ּומ ְׁשּפָ ט‬
ִ ‫ְל ַמעַ ן‬ of the LORD, to do justice
and judgment; that the
bith·u achri·u u·shmru drk ieue l·oshuth tzdqe u·mshpht lmon
LORD may bring upon
household-of·him after·him and·they-keep way-of Yahweh to·to-do-of justice and·judgment so-that
Abraham that which he hath
spoken of him.
‫ָה ִביא‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫אַ ְב ָר ָהם ־ עַ ל‬ ‫אֵ ת‬ ‫אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫ִּד ֶּבר ־‬ ‫עָ לָ יו‬ :

18:20 ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ַזע ֲַקת‬ ‫ְסדֹם‬ ‫עמ ָֹרה‬
ֲ ‫ַו‬ ‫ִּכי‬ ‫ָר ָּבה ־‬ ‫אתם‬
ָ ָ‫ְו ַחּט‬

And the LORD said,
u·iamr ieue zoqth sdm u·omre ki - rbe u·chtath·m Because the cry of Sodom
and·he-is-saying Yahweh outcry-of Sodom and·Gomorrah that she-is-much and·sin-of·them and Gomorrah is great, and
because their sin is very
‫ִּכי‬ ‫כָ ְב ָדה‬ ‫ ְמאֹד‬: grievous;

that she-is-heavy very

18:21 ‫ר ָדה‬
ֲ ֵ‫א‬ ‫ּנָא ־‬ ‫ְואֶ ְראֶ ה‬ ‫ַה ְּכצַ ע ֲָק ָתּה‬ ‫ַה ָּבאָ ה‬ ‫אֵ לַ י‬ ‫עָ ׂשּו‬ ‫ּכָ לָ ה‬

I will go down now, and
arde - na u·arae e·k·tzoqth·e e·bae al·i oshu kle see whether they have done
I-shall-descend please ! and·I-shall-see ?·as·cry-of·her the·she-came to·me they-do all altogether according to the
cry of it, which is come
‫ְו ִאם‬ ‫ל ֹא ־‬ ‫אֵ ָדעָ ה‬ : unto me; and if not, I will
know.

18:22 ‫וַּיִ ְפנּו‬ ‫ִמּׁשָ ם‬ ‫אנ ִָׁשים‬

ֲ ‫ָה‬ ‫ַוּי ְֵלכּו‬ ‫ד ָמה‬
ֹ ‫ְס‬ ‫ְואַ ְב ָר ָהם‬

And the men turned their
u·iphnu m·shm e·anshim u·ilku sdm·e u·abrem faces from thence, and went
and·they-are-facing-about from·there the·mortals and·they-are-going Sodom·ward and·Abraham toward Sodom: but
Abraham stood yet before
‫עדּנּו‬
ֶ ‫עֹ ֵמד‬ ‫ִל ְפנֵי‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ : the LORD.

still·him standing to·faces-of Yahweh

18:23 ‫וַּיִ ּגַׁש‬ ‫אַ ְב ָר ָהם‬ ‫ֹאמר‬

ַ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ַהאַ ף‬ ‫ִּת ְסּפֶ ה‬ ‫צַ ִּדיק‬

. And Abraham drew
u·igsh abrem u·iamr e·aph thsphe tzdiq near, and said, Wilt thou
and·he-is-coming-close Abraham and·he-is-saying ?·indeed you-shall-sweep-up righteous-one also destroy the righteous
with the wicked?
‫ִעם‬ ‫ָרׁשָ ע ־‬ :

18:24 ‫אּולַ י‬ ‫יֵׁש‬ ‫ח ִמ ִּׁשים‬

ֲ ‫יקם‬
ִ ‫צַ ִּד‬ 5‫ְּבת‬ ‫ָה ִעיר‬ ‫ַהאַ ף‬ ‫ִּת ְסּפֶ ה‬

Peradventure there be
auli ish chmshim tzdiqm b·thuk e·oir e·aph thsphe fifty righteous within the
perhaps there-is fifty righteous-ones in·midst-of the·city ?·indeed you-shall-sweep-up city: wilt thou also destroy
and not spare the place for
‫ְול ֹא‬ ‫ִתּׂשָ א ־‬ ‫לַ ָּמקם‬ ‫ְל ַמעַ ן‬ ‫ח ִמ ִּׁשים‬
ֲ ‫יקם‬
ִ ‫ַהּצַ ִּד‬ ‫אֲׁשֶ ר‬ the fifty righteous that [are]
therein?
u·la - thsha l·mqum lmon chmshim e·tzdiqm ashr
and·not you-shall-bear to·the·placeri on-account-of fifty the·righteous-ones who

‫ְּב ִק ְר ָּבּה‬ :
b·qrb·e :
in·within-of·her

18:25 ‫ח ִללָ ה‬
ָ )‫ְּל‬ ‫ֲׂשת‬
ֹ ‫ֵמע‬ ‫ּכַ ָּד ָבר‬ ‫ַהּזֶה‬ ‫ְל ָה ִמית‬ ‫צַ ִּדיק‬
25
That be far from thee to
chll·e l·k m·oshth k·dbr e·ze l·emith tzdiq do after this manner, to slay
far-be-it ! to·you from·to-do-of as·the·thing the·this to·to-cput-to-death-of righteous-one the righteous with the
wicked: and that the
‫ִעם‬ ‫ָרׁשָ ע ־‬ ‫ְו ָהיָה‬ ‫כַ ּצַ ִּדיק‬ ‫ּכָ ָרׁשָ ע‬ ‫ָח ִללָ ה‬ 5 ָ‫ּל‬ righteous should be as the
wicked, that be far from
om - rsho u·eie k·tzdiq k·rsho chll·e l·k
thee: Shall not the Judge of
with wicked-one and·he-becomes as·the·righteous-one as·the·wicked-one far-be-it ! to·you
all the earth do right?
‫הׁשֹפֵ ט‬
ֲ ‫ּכָ ל‬ ‫ָהאָ ֶרץ ־‬ ‫ל ֹא‬ ‫ַיעֲׂשֶ ה‬ ‫ִמ ְׁשּפָ ט‬ :
e·shpht kl - e·artz la ioshe mshpht :
?·one-judging-of all-of the·earth not he-shall-do judgment

18:26 ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫אֶ ְמצָ א ־ ִאם‬ ‫ִב ְסדֹם‬ ‫ח ִמ ִּׁשים‬
ֲ ‫יקם‬
ִ ‫צַ ִּד‬ 5‫ְּבת‬
26
And the LORD said, If I
u·iamr ieue am - amtza b·sdm chmshim tzdiqm b·thuk find in Sodom fifty
and·he-is-saying Yahweh if I-am-finding in·Sodom fifty righteous-ones in·midst-of righteous within the city,
then I will spare all the
‫ָה ִעיר‬ ‫אתי‬

ָ ‫ַּבע‬ : place for their sakes.

18:27 ‫ַוּיַעַ ן‬ ‫אַ ְב ָר ָהם‬ ‫ֹאמר‬

ַ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ִהּנֵה‬ ‫נָא ־‬ ‫האַ ְל ִּתי‬

And Abraham answered
u·ion abrem u·iamr ene - na eualthi and said, Behold now, I
and·he-is-answering Abraham and·he-is-saying behold ! please ! I-cam-disposed have taken upon me to
speak unto the Lord, which
‫ְל ַד ֵּבר‬ ‫דנָי ־ אֶ ל‬
ֹ ‫א‬
ֲ ‫ְואָ נ ִֹכי‬ ‫עָ פָ ר‬ ‫וָאֵ פֶ ר‬ : [am but] dust and ashes:

18:28 ‫אּולַ י‬ ‫י ְַח ְסרּון‬ ‫ח ִמ ִּׁשים‬

ֲ ‫יקם‬
ִ ‫ַהּצַ ִּד‬ ‫ח ִמּׁשָ ה‬
ֲ ‫ֲת ְׁש ִחית‬
ַ ‫ה‬ ‫ח ִמּׁשָ ה‬
ֲ ‫ַּב‬

Peradventure there shall
auli ichsru·n chmshim e·tzdiqm chmshe e·thshchith b·chmshe lack five of the fifty
perhaps they-are-lacking fifty the·righteous-ones five ?·you-shall-cruin in·the·five righteous: wilt thou destroy
all the city for [lack of]
‫ּכָ ל ־ אֶ ת‬ ‫ָה ִעיר ־‬ ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ל ֹא‬ ‫אַ ְׁש ִחית‬ ‫אֶ ְמצָ א ־ ִאם‬ ‫ׁשָ ם‬ ‫אַ ְר ָּב ִעים‬ five? And he said, If I find
there forty and five, I will
ath - kl - e·oir u·iamr la ashchith am - amtza shm arboim
not destroy [it].
» all-of the·city and·he-is-saying not I-shall-cruin if I-am-finding there forty

ֲ ‫ַו‬ :

18:29 ‫וַּיֹ ֶסף‬ ‫עד‬ ‫ְל ַד ֵּבר‬ ‫אֵ לָ יו‬ ‫ֹאמר‬

ַ ‫וַּי‬ ‫אּולַ י‬

And he spake unto him
u·isph oud l·dbr ali·u u·iamr auli yet again, and said,
and·he-is-cproceeding further to·to-mspeak-of to·him and·he-is-saying perhaps Peradventure there shall be
forty found there. And he
‫יִ ָּמ ְצאּון‬ ‫ׁשָ ם‬ ‫ֹאמר אַ ְר ָּב ִעים‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ל ֹא‬ ‫אֶ עֱׂשֶ ה‬ ‫ַּבעֲבּור‬ ‫ ָהאַ ְר ָּב ִעים‬: said, I will not do [it] for
forty's sake.

18:30 ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫אַ ל‬ ‫נָא ־‬ ‫יִ ַחר‬ ‫דנָי‬
ֹ ‫לַ א‬ ‫ַוא ֲַד ֵּב ָרה‬

And he said [unto him],
u·iamr al - na ichr l·adni u·adbre Oh let not the Lord be
and·he-is-saying must-not-be please ! he-is-being-hot to·my-Lord and·I-am-mspeaking angry, and I will speak:
Peradventure there shall
‫אּולַ י‬ ‫יִ ָּמ ְצאּון‬ ‫ׁשָ ם‬ ‫ ׁשים‬
ִ ‫ְׁש‬ ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ל ֹא‬ ‫אֶ עֱׂשֶ ה‬ ‫אֶ ְמצָ א ־ ִאם‬ thirty be found there. And
he said, I will not do [it], if I

find thirty there.
perhaps they-are-being-found there thirty and·he-is-saying not I-shall-do if I-am-finding

18:31 ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ִהּנֵה‬ ‫נָא ־‬ ‫האַ ְל ִּתי‬ ‫ְל ַד ֵּבר‬ ‫דנָי ־ אֶ ל‬
ֹ ‫א‬
ֲ ‫אּולַ י‬

And he said, Behold
u·iamr ene - na eualthi l·dbr al - adni auli now, I have taken upon me
and·he-is-saying behold ! please ! I-cam-disposed to·to-mspeak-of to my-Lord perhaps to speak unto the Lord:
Peradventure there shall be
‫יִ ָּמ ְצאּון‬ ‫ׁשָ ם‬ ‫עֶ ְׂש ִרים‬ ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ל ֹא‬ ‫אַ ְׁש ִחית‬ ‫ַּבעֲבּור‬ ‫ָהעֶ ְׂש ִרים‬ : twenty found there. And he
said, I will not destroy [it]
imtzau·n shm oshrim u·iamr la ashchith b·obur e·oshrim :
for twenty's sake.
they-are-being-found there twenty and·he-is-saying not I-shall-cruin in·sake the·twenty

18:32 ‫ֹאמר‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫אַ ל‬ ‫נָא ־‬ ‫יִ ַחר‬ ‫דנָי‬
ֹ ‫לַ א‬ ‫ַוא ֲַד ְּב ָרה‬ 5 ַ‫־ א‬
32
And he said, Oh let not
u·iamr al - na ichr l·adni u·adbre ak - the Lord be angry, and I
and·he-is-saying must-not-be please ! he-is-being-hot to·my-Lord and·I-shall-mspeak yea will speak yet but this once:
Peradventure ten shall be
‫ַהּפַ עַ ם‬ ‫אּולַ י‬ ‫יִ ָּמ ְצאּון‬ ‫ׁשָ ם‬ ‫ֹאמר עֲׂשָ ָרה‬
ֶ ‫וַּי‬ ‫ל ֹא‬ ‫אַ ְׁש ִחית‬ ‫ַּבעֲבּור‬ found there. And he said, I
will not destroy [it] for ten's

sake.

18:33 5 ֶ‫ַוּיֵל‬ ‫יְ הוָה‬ ‫ּכַ אֲׁשֶ ר‬ ‫ִּכּלָ ה‬ ‫ְל ַד ֵּבר‬ ‫אַ ְב ָר ָהם ־ אֶ ל‬ ‫ְואַ ְב ָר ָהם‬

And the LORD went his
u·ilk ieue k·ashr kle l·dbr al - abrem u·abrem way, as soon as he had left
and·he-is-going Yahweh as·which he-mfinished to·to-mspeak-of to Abraham and·Abraham communing with Abraham:
and Abraham returned unto
‫ׁשָ ב‬ ‫קמ‬
ֹ ‫ִל ְמ‬ : his place.
