Twoband-Antenna for VHF/UHF Portable or Mobile Transceiver.

(Homebrewd and in use by DL 5 DBM, Anwar)

To manufacture the 2m/70cm portable/mobile whipantenna you need an 80cm long

stainless steelrod (Weldingrod with a diameter of 1,5mm V2A oder V4A)

The whip must be of one peace.

38-39cm
At first you should wind the one turn coil starting by 10 cm from one of the ends
Coildiameter is 30 mm. After that you must pull the end of the winding 10mm apart.
The begining and the end of the coil must be bend aus shown in the picture and drawing

D=30mm The streight sections of the whip beneath and over the coil must be in line to each other.
After bending and forming, cut the lower section to a length of 6,2 cm and the upper section
to 39cm, the upper section will have to be shortend to the resonant frequency for 2m (USA 146.000MHz)

10mm Coil with a gap of 10mm and a coildiameter of 30mm

6,2 cm

File and sharpen the End to have aproximitley the same shape like the inner condukter of a BNC-Plug.
When the whip is ready, cut a 8mm long peace of insulation from a highvoltage cable, pull out the
inner conduktor and sleave it over the rod to fit between the nut and the BNC plug, skrew them together
abt. 8mm high voltage insulation. (remove inner conduktor)

BNC-plug without inner conduktor

BNC socket on Rx/Tx

Twoband or monoband transceiver

145.762,5 Handheld or mobile

438.775

This antenna works as a 1/4 wavelength on 2m

and a 5/8 wavelength on 70 cm
