11 Laying out the Optical Fiber Jumper

11.1 Laying out the Internal Optical Fiber Jumper

Tips
LC/PC type fiber connector
Select the optical fiber jumpers according to the types of the
optical interfaces on the equipment at both local and far end.
All optical interfaces on the CiTRANS 650 U3 side are the
FC/PC type fiber connector
LC/PC type.
The optical fibers on the ODF side usually use the FC/PC type
or SC/PC type interface according to the type of the ODF side
optical interface. SC/PC type fiber connector
Note
The LC/PC-LC/PC fiber connector is used to connect optical interfaces
inside the cabinet.
The LC/PC-FC/PC fiber connector and LC/PC-SC/PC fiber connector are
used to connect the equipment and the optical interface of the ODF.

11.1.1 Preparation Before Layout

Tips
Installers should prepare the following items before the layout.

Make and attach temporary labels on both sides of the optical fiber to be arranged. Arrange the optical fiber in order and
lay them straight. Please note that the fiber should be arranged in pairs for transmitting and receiving.
Cut out an appropriate length of corrugated conduit according to the length of optical fiber (the fiber between the cabinet
on the local end and the cabinet / ODF on the far end should be protected by the corrugated conduit).
Adjust the length of optical fiber outside the corrugated conduit: If there is a redundant length of the fibers at the client
side and line side, installers should reserve the redundant parts of the fibers at the ODF side, so as to ensure that the
fibers access the cabinet from the client and line sides without redundancy.
Route the optical fiber with the corrugated conduit from other cabinet or ODF to the cabinet via the upper support channel,
and lead the fiber into the cabinet via the wiring hole.

13
11.1.2 Layout Procedures
Caution
Exercise care if you must bend fibers. If bends are necessary, 1 Connect the optical fiber to the corresponding optical interface
the fiber bending radius should never be less than 40mm. on the card.

2 Lead the optical fiber through the fiber guide unit of the
subrack and route it along the wiring channel on the cabinet
to the fiber passage area of the subrack (The top access
wiring mode is taken as an example for introduction).
Top access wiring mode: Lead the optical fiber into the
cabinet through the cabinet-top wiring holes and route the
fiber downward.
Floor access wiring mode: Lead the optical fiber into the
1 cabinet through the cabinet-bottom wiring holes and route
the fiber upward.

Caution
Installers should bind all wires and cables used in onsite installation.
Each cable type should be bound separately. For example, power
cables, alarm cables and optical fibers should be laid out independently
and bound separately. Note that optical fibers should be bound with
dedicated cable ties.

14
11.2 Arranging the Optical Fiber Jumper

After completing the connection of the optical fibers, installers should bind the optical fibers at the entrance of the
cabinet and at the point near to the fiber passage area with cable ties to secure them.
Connect the optical fiber at the ODF side.

Make and attach labels to both ends of the optical fiber.

Tips
The interval of binding cables should be three or four times the diameter of the cable bundles, and make sure that
intervals are equal.
