1. Find the distance between the point P (1, 4, 5) and Q (4, -2, 7).

2. Find a vector of magnitude 7 in the direction of v 12i 5k .

3. Find the midpoint of the line segment joining the points P (3, 4, 5) and Q (2, 3, 4).

4. Find (a) v u , v , u (b) the cosine of the angle between v and u (c) the scalar component of u

in the direction of v (d) the vector Proj v u for v 2i 4 j 5k , u 2i 4 j 5k .

5. Given that P (1, -1, 2), Q (2, 0, -1), and R (0, 2, 1), find
(a) the area of the triangle determined by the points P, Q, and R.
(b) a unit vector perpendicular to the plane PQR.

6. Find the volume of the parallelepiped (box) determined by the vectors u 2i j , v 2i j k

and w i 2k .

7. Find the area of of the parallelogram whose vertices are given by the points A (0, 0, 0), B (3, 2, 4),
C (5, 1, 4) and D (2, -1, 0).
8. Find the area of the triangle whose vertices are given by the points A (1, -1, 1), B (0, 1, 1), and
C (1, 0, -1).
9. Find parametric equations for the line through (1, 1, 1) parallel to the Z-axis.

10. Find parametric equations for the line through (2, 3, 0) perpendicular to the vectors u i 2 j 3k and

v 3i 4 j 5k .

11. Find parametrization for the line segment joining the points P (0, 1, 1) and Q (0, -1, 1).
12. Find equation for the plane through P (2, 4, 5) perpendicular to the line x = 5 + t, y = 1 + 3t, z = 4t.
13. Find the distance from the point P (3, -1, 4) to the line x = 4 t, y = 3 + 2t, z = -5 + 3t.
14. Find the distance from the point Q (2, -3, 4) to the plane x + 2y + 2z = 13.
15. Find the angle between the planes x + y = 1 and 2x + y 2z = 2.
16. Find the point in which the line x = 1 t, y = 3t, z = 1 + t meets the plane 2x y + 3z = 6.
17. Find parametrization for the line which the planes x + y + z = 1 and x + y =2 intersect.
18. Determine whether the lines, taken two at a time, are parallel, intersect, or are skews. If they intersect,
find the point of intersection.
