Stages of the lesson:

Activity 1 Warmer
Aims: To review the previously learnt material
Procedure: Interaction: Timing:
T greets Ss, introduces the supervising teacher and checks attendance. t-Ss 1
T asks Ss to read their homework and has them correct the mistakes they t-Ss 3
have
Ss stand up and play the hot potato game. T says the infinitive forms, Ss the t- Ss 5
irregular ones. To pass they need to say the infinitive of a verb and pass the
potato. If correct, they sit down, if not, they keep playing. The game is
finished when all the Ss are seated.

Activity 2 Lead in
Aims: To prepare the context of the lesson exposure to target language

T tells Ss they are going to learn Wh-questions in Past Simple. T writes date t-Ss 5
and title on the blackboard. T sticks Wh-words and their respective possible
answer. Ss match the question word to the possible answer.

Activity 3 Presentation through guided discovery

Ss are given an envelope with words which they have to put in the correct T-Ss 10
order to form wh-questions. Ss stick the sentences on the blackboard. T
chooses three questions and then invites Ss to write the rule for each

Aims: To practise the target structure and recycle vocabulary related to great navigators

Ss read the prompts and transform them into Wh-questions. T-Ss 16
After writing the questions on the bb, Ss match the question with the answer.
