Senior Project Manager (Saint-Laurent, QC)

Tasks:

Ensure that the project is planned and performed within the cost and time limits,
and in agreement with the contractual requirements
Manage Customer Satisfaction to maintain long term ABB positioning
Develop and maintain the relationship for future business
Develop the project organizational structure and roles & responsibilities as well as
the communication guide
Ensure adequate resource planning throughout the execution of the project; coach
project team members
In complex project, propose none conventional organization and adapt roles and
responsibilities in order to manage complex issues
Exchange with external groups to identify and propose solutions to specific
technical problems
Use his knowledge and experience to support other PMs in complex situation
Responsible to lead the implantation of the "best project practices committee"
Define clearly interfaces between all stakeholders and develop the corresponding
Division of Responsibilities (Responsibility Matrices)
Responsible for the development of the WBS and schedule, including
engineering, procurement, manufacturing, delivery, construction, commissioning
and customer training activities
Monitor the progress of the different areas and phases of the Project and produce
periodic progress reports for customer and internal review
Validate the project budget and monitor periodically the estimate at completion /
mitigate potential cost overruns;
manage scope and changes to the Contract
Develop the project execution plan, quality plan as well as project-specific
procedures and ensure follow-up
Project Management responsibilities include, among other activities, the
following (applicable to the Contracts with the Client and ABB Subcontractors):
o Contract review Review of the general commercial conditions, specific
conditions as well as quality, packing, shipping and documentation
requirements for contracts with subcontractors
o Manage the Engineering planning and design reviews
o Manage the Procurement process including planning, selection of
subcontractors, manufacturing, delivery and payment to subcontractors
o Manage the net working capital situation
o Support the site management in the execution of site works
o Responsible for change order requests, claims, contract amendments and
corresponding bid calculation sheets. Conduct proactive commercial
negotiations
o Pursue project opportunities for additional sales
o Ensure accurate and complete financial follow-up and forecasting,
including Cost of Poor Quality

Perform periodic Risk and Opportunity Management including the


corresponding mitigation and action plans. Follow-up of performance
guarantees, bonuses and penalties
o Ensure coordination between all project stakeholders; organize, conduct
and document internal and external coordination meetings and progress
review meetings
o Ensure that QEHS requirements are applied (including follow-up of
nonconformities and CCRPs).
o Ensure quality/continuous performance
o Validate the payment schedule (including the list of milestones).
Responsible for invoicing to customers
o Responsible for obtaining the required permits, insurances and financial
guarantees
o Ensure proper follow-up of project documentation including
correspondence
Supervise preparation of proposals and improve the solution by suggesting and
designing innovative solutions in Project management
Serves as mentor in Project Management to less experienced professionals
Revise and optimize Project Management processes annually lead the exercise
for the PM community

Requirements:

Bachelor degree in electrical engineering (preferred option: electrotechnical field)


PMP certification (Project Management Professional) is an asset
Minimum 5 years of experience in managing turnkey HV substations in the
utilities industry
Excellent Communication, Management and Leadership skills
Strong organization skills, proactive, result-oriented
Business minded
Conflict resolution skills
Strong ability to influence people and building trust and credibility
Strong negotiation skills
Ability in managing several tasks and solve complex issues involving many
stakeholders

Duration: 6 Months Contract to Permanent
Description:
Provide overall program management consulting and direction for all major complex
programs to IT and Business Executives who are responsible for managing and delivering
IT related services to end user community or external customers
Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing
needs and requirements.
Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibilities.
Manages day-to-day operational aspects of a program and scope.
Reviews deliverables prepared by team before passing to client.
Effectively applies methodology and enforces project standards.
Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.
Minimizes exposure and risk on project.
Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
Tracks and reports team hours and expenses on a weekly basis.
Manages project budget.
Determines appropriate revenue recognition, ensures timely and accurate invoicing,
and monitors receivables for project.
Follows up with clients, when necessary, regarding unpaid invoices.
Analyzes project profitability, revenue, margins, bill rates and utilization.
Understands basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and
makes decisions accordingly.
Understands pricing model and billing procedures.
Accurately forecasts revenue, profitability, margins, bill rates and utilization.
Assures project legal documents are completed and signed.
Identifies business development and "add-on" sales opportunities as they relate to a
specific project.
Facilitates team and client meetings effectively.
Holds regular status meetings with project team.
Keeps project team well informed of changes within the organization and general
corporate news.
Effectively communicates relevant project information to superiors.
Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations.
Resolves and/or escalates issues in a timely fashion.
Understands how to communicate difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
Possesses general understanding in the areas of application programming, database
and system design.

Maintains awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential application
on client engagement
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
B.A. or equivalent.
5-8 years experience in complicated programs and project management
Strong focus on program governance
Experience in the Financial Services Industry/Banking cheque processing,
outsourcing, managed services, application development
Strong technical acumen with experience in Hardware, Software, Services,
Professional Services offerings in the IT industry History of successful team
management and leadership. Helps virtual team members prioritize workload, manage
and respond to deadlines.
Aggressive self-starter, able to rally team support for process and accountability in a
rapidly changing environment.
Experience working in a matrix organization across functional teams and geographies.
Able to accomplish objectives through influence, vs. reporting structure.
Demonstrates the ability to think strategically, yet able to problem-solve and drive
tactical execution.
Strong communications and presentation skills to be able to interact with senior level
executives across the company and customers and prospects.
Proficient computer skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required.
