EVENT DESCRIPTION
Who

If youre an undergraduate whos interested in


management consulting, business strategy, or making an
impact, this competition is for you.

What

Where

Why

Case for a Cause is a consulting competition. Wed


like you to look at UNICEFs strategic plan and
examine their outreach strategy. Youll present a
ten-slide deck to BCG in teams of two if accepted.

Applications are due on Dec. 31, 2016.


Youll be notified of your status on Jan 14, 2016.
If accepted, youll present on February 7th, 2016.

The event will be held at USCs Grand Ballroom.


The address is 3607 Trousdale Parkway, Los Angeles
CA, 90089.

Winning means first-round interviews with BCG for the top


two teams if qualified*. The top three teams will receive
$500. Even if you dont place, youll still have the chance
to attend our BCG networking session.

contact information. It looks

Submit Your Application


You should receive an email with a link to a Google form.
If not, dont hesitate to reach out to your campus lead!
Here, you should upload your resume and answer the
following questions (under 250 words each):
1) Why are you joining this competition?
2) How would you approach this problem?

Turn in Your Slide Deck


Youll find out if youre selected to enter by January 14th
with instructions & guidelines for submission for your 10page slide deck by email (due by 11:59 PM February 6th.
Youll then present your 15-minute presentation to BCG on
February 7th!

YOUR TASK
If selected to participate, well ask you to answer the following
open-ended prompt with a 10-slide PowerPoint Deck and 15
minute presentation:
UNICEF wants to engage more young-adults high school and
university students in its campaigns. Currently, UNICEF has a
grassroots campus initiative program with 120 schools in place
generating $150,000 in donations a year. Weve been asked to
devise a strategy to increase the number of campus initiatives
throughout the US. How should we structure a sustainable
outreach strategy, and how should we monitor progress?

Remember: you can receive $500 to implement your


proposed strategy. That means you should outline
specific items that can be implemented (either by
UNICEF or by you!)
With your acceptance email, youll receive more case details
and a schedule for information sessions where you can ask
clarifying questions. You can also submit inquiries on
caseforacausecompetition.org, our website, and receive
answers via email.

EVALUATION
CRITERIA

Your initial application is no more than a resume and two short- answer
questions: why youd like to participate and your initial thoughts on
structuring this case (under 250 words each). Heres what were looking
for in your submission.

Initiative

In your resume, wed like to see that you enjoy taking on new
challenges.
Well also look for demonstrated leadership ability and followthrough.

A great GPA, scholastic achievements, and a demonstrated


desire for learning in your resume are all positives!
Academics All majors are welcome to apply.

Your thoughts on structuring the case give us a sense of what


your presentation might look like.
Analytical Were looking for an innovative, clearly-structured approach
that lends itself to a data-driven presentation.
Approach
Why are you entering this competition? We care!
All else being equal, preference will be given to seniors actively
searching for full-time positions or juniors looking to apply for

Evaluation criteria for slide decks and presentations will be given at


information sessions and emailed to selected applicants.

Attend an info session or send in questions online
Brainstorm, ask questions, find data, repeat
Finalize, practice, and polish presentation
Submit final slide deck via email by 11:59 PM 2/6/16

Presenting: February 7th


Arrive on time (12:30 PM on 2/7/16).
Bring copies of your resume for networking
Present in front of representatives from BCG and UNICEF!
Make sure to follow up with consultants you meet after the event!
The Case for a Cause team will be in touch with contest winners
regarding next steps.
