khanDitAsura nikara demons. You are the repository of

In this tarangam Bhoodevi (Mother Earth) sings the praise of lord Vishnu and
prays to him to incarnate in the world to save it from the attrocities of evil demons.
In this Tarangam Brahma and other devatas worship Sri Maha Vishnu before his
incarnation as Krishna. Narayana Teertha picturises the form and functions of
Sree Maha Vishnu the sole sustainer of the universe.
Sri Krishna was born to Devaki in the prison cell. His divine effulgence revealed
that he is the incarnation of Sri Maha Vishnu. Devaki and Vasudeva sing this
song in great devotion.
Sri Krishna was born to Devaki in Kamsa's prison cell. He was born with divine
effulgence of Sri Mahavishnu. Vasudeva in order to implement the divine plan
revealed by Akashavani (clairvoyance) exchanges Devaki's child Krishna with
Yasoda's child at Nandigram. Kamsa attempts to kill Yogamaya, the child with
Devaki in vain. She is none other than the mighty Goddess Durga. She declares
that the child who would be death knell to Kamsa is already growing somewere
else. Rejoicing with this happy revelation the Devatas and the Sages sing this
song praising Mother Durga.

bliss.

Introduction.The Gopikas sing this song praising the beauty of Krishna. They
recognise him as the incarnation of Sri Maha Vishnu who came to the earth to
establish Dharma.
The Gopikas sing this song while playing with Krishna. They request the playful
Krishna to repeat his pranks.

In this tarangam Gopikas describe the great qualities of Sri Krishna who is none
other than Sriman Narayana. They praise him as the embodiment of
Satchitdananda.( truth, conciousness, bliss)
Mother Yasoda tied krishna to a grinding stone. When he dragged the stone, it
stuck between two trees and uprooted them. Nalakubera and Manigreeva who
remained as those trees due to a curse, got redeemed. Then they sang this song
praising Sri Krishna.

pratyaya bAdhita Sokam prati away grief and radiate the cosmos.
bhAti sarva lOkam You are free from birth or death.
mrutyu janmAdi viraham satya You are the embodiment of the
lokAdi sarva dEham || universe.
C3 kamalAsanAdi geetam Brahma sings your praise. Your
kAmayAnAdi phalitam glory is infinite. You bestow our
Sree madasEsha vibhavam wishes. You are unperturbed and
dheerAnu bhAvyam you shine with pleasant
samarasa tayA nityam vimala yogi countenance. Pious yogis know
viditam that you are the God born as
amara ramya Sree gOkula Gopala in the Gokulam (family of
kamaneeya gOpAla Sareeram || cowherds).
C4 nara bhaya vArakam nAma roopa You dispel the fear of hell. You are
nirvAhakam the supreme soul behind this
paripoornNananda dAyakam creation. You bestow absolute bliss
bhakta tArakam and emancipate your devotees.
suraguru geeta mEkam sooditA Brihaspati the Guru of Devatas tells
sura nAyakam that you took this incarnation to
vara nArAyaNa teertha vandita destroy demons. Narayana Teertha
pAda padmakam || bows to your lotus feet.
Mother Yasoda was thrilled to see the whole cosmos, when krishna opened his
mouth. She sings this song in all ecstasy stating that he is Sri Maha Vishnu whom
all the yogis yearn to see.
The celestial beings observe the wonder child krishna from the heaven and
describe him in this song.
In this Tarangam the celestials observe from the sky and describe the deeds and
play of Balakrishna with the other cowherd boys.
Once Brahma wanted to test the greatness of Krishna and stole some cowherd
boys and cows. He hid them away from Gokulam. Krishna, who is omniscient ,
took their form by his maya and kept them all in the village itself. Brahma realises
his mistake and chants the praise of Sri Krishna in this song.
Brahma prays to Sri Krishna stating that Sriman Narayana descended to the earth
as human being to obliterate the sins of the mankind. He adds that he is the
quintessence of the wisdom of all the scriptures and he is the purpose and the
meaning of all the philosophic truths.
In this popular tarangam Narayana Teertha describes the prayers of the wives of
the sages. They were very happy to serve food to Krishna and his cowherd
friends. It was prasadam (food offered to God) distributed after an yajna
(sacrifice) was performed by the sages.
