Glasgow business named GNDCs Business of the Year

Great Northern Development Corporation is happy to announce the winner of 2013 Business of the Year as the Glasgow Flower & Gift. For this accomplishment, they received an award plaque, registration to the Invest in Success small business conference in Butte next week, and a $500 stipend for lodging and travel. This locally owned business was purchased by Peggy & Kerry Aakre in 2005. The business offers outstanding quality service and an exceptional selection of fresh flowers and gift ware. Their goal is to continually improve the quality and longevity of the flowers they sell, and it is not unusual for customers tell them that their flowers have lasted up to two and three weeks. The shop supports many community organizations and functions. In 2010 they received the Petal of Honor Award from Teleflora, an award based on quality, timeliness of delivery and customer satisfaction. In addition, Peggy has been involved with the Montana Florist Association (MFA) for the past six years and was recently appointed as their President for the 2014 convention in Billings. Congratulations to Glasgow Flower & Gift for their outstanding business performance!

Do you know how the Nashua Lions Clubs annual talent show came to be? Sandy Laumeyer told us the story. It was the community-minded Hartvik Garsjo, a Nashua Lions Club charter member, who came up with the idea. A way to raise Hartvik Garsjo some funds for the club, but also give the community something fun to do, as well. The Nashua Lions Club is looking for talent for their 17th Annual Talent Show, which is scheduled for Sunday, April 27th. If you are interested in being in the talent show you may get an application by calling 746-3483, emailing [email protected] or sending a request to P.O. Box 131, Nashua, MT 59248. But the deadline to submit an application is this Monday, April 14th, so please act quickly so your act can be seen at the Nashua Lions Club Talent Show!

housed in a cottonwood tree. It has been used consecutively for five years by nesting pairs. The eagles are currently on the nest and from what can be viewed; there are two eggs in the nest. We have already learned so much from this opportunity, said Brad Schmitz, Fish Wildlife and Parks, Region 7 Supervisor, Not only about this pair of eagles in particular, but also this technology that may be used in future projects. FWP expects the resident Bald Eagles have an enormous amount of information to share with the community. This project has not just been a Fish, continued on next page

Alright! Ill drive them to the field trip tomorrow, sighed the busy mom resignedly. Sure enough the next day found her with a van full of exuberant 7-to-10-year-olds. Clearly distracted, the mother cruised right through a stop sign. Dont you know how to stop? screamed the exasperated crossing guard, running towards the car. The mother hit the brakes and stopped her car, looked the crossing guard straight in the eye and, clearly upset, barked back at him, What makes you think they are all mine?!

An old man comes into a restaurant, sits at his usual table, and orders his usual, Matzoh ball soup. The waiter sets it down in front of him, and stands back to watch him enjoy it. But the man just sits there. Is there something wrong? the waiter asks. I cant eat this soup, the man replies. Is it too hot? The waiter asks. No, the man replies. Too cold? No. Too salty? No. The waiter calls the chef and he asks the same questions. Finally the chef at his wits end says, Sir, I will taste the soup myself. Where is the spoon? Says the old man: A-Ha!
