Whats wrong with this picture? The wind aint blowing! It seems weve been blessed with more than our fair share of wind this past month, but anglers were taking advantage of a crispy-cool, but calm evening on Fort Peck Reservoir recently in between all the numerous lake wind advisories.
Researchers for the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority found over 200 dead crows near greater Boston recently, and there was concern that they may have died from Avian Flu. A Bird Pathologist examined the remains of all the crows, and, to everyones relief, confirmed the problem was definitely NOT Avian Flu. In fact, the cause of death appeared to be vehicular impacts. However, during the detailed analysis it was noted that varying colors of paints appeared on the birds beaks and claws. By analyzing these paint residues it was determined that 98% of the crows had been killed by impact with trucks, while only 2% were killed by an impact with a car. MTA then hired an Ornithological Behaviorist to determine if there was a cause for the disproportionate percentages of truck kills versus car kills. The Ornithological Behaviorist very quickly concluded the cause: when crows eat road kill, they always have a look-out crow in a nearby tree to warn of impending danger. The conclusion was that while all the lookout crows could say Cah! Cah!, none could say Truck! Truck!.

Devyn Bell, a sophomore at Gonzaga University, was in Boston to row for the Bulldogs.
the Eliot Bridge and before Northeastern Universitys Henderson Boathouse. The race was not head-to-head but instead it was against the clock as crews started the race at 15-second intervals. The Head of the Charles is generally regarded as the worlds largest two-day rowing event and features 55 races, nearly 2,100 boats and approximately 9,000 rowers of all levels from novices and top collegiate rowers to world-class club teams. Devyn is a 2012 graduate of Glasgow High School and has been rowing for exactly one year, working her way up to a varsity spot and one of only five young Gonzaga women who were invited to Boston this past weekend. Along with Devyn, the Zags Varsity 4+ boat included rowers Madison Keaty, Kara Soucek and Casey Burt, and coxswain Laura Brasch. continued on back page
