Cons and pros There is or course the risk of getting laid off, and or your
employer not paying you what you are owed. While being a game developer pays
well, there are many other jobs that pay much better that require the same
education and skill set. Many games flop after they are released and don’t make
much money. There are 1 million + games in the world and many of the games
are relatively unknown. It's not very often that a game takes off and makes a lot
of money. The game development industry is very competitive, and it is growing a
lot so there are many people looking for a job, so it is very hard to land a job in
the industry. Deadlines there's no overdue assignments in the game industry, if
you don’t get a project in on time you could be fired. A tight deadline could mean
coming in early, working late or working on the weekend to meet a deadline. If
you are good enough you could work as a freelancer, making your own games and
making your own money.
