COURSE DESCRIPTION
The course is a survey of the principal practical approaches to written communication in
English with specific focus on the technical, scientific and business registers of the language.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
At the end of the term, the students are expected to:
Differentiate the various registers of English by identifying their most salient
characteristics and the contexts where they are used;
Apply the rules of style and composition corresponding to each register;
Apply the different methods of bibliographic citation and in-text referencing;
Produce satisfactory written outputs in the aforesaid registers.
