Introit Hymn Blessed be God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Blessed be God's kingdom, now and forever. We are the body of Christ. His Spirit is with us. The peace of the Lord be always with you. And also with you. All may exchange a sign of peace.
SENTENCE: When we cry, Abba, Father! it is the Spirit of God bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God. Romans 8.15, 16
THE COLLECT: Provident Father, with the prayer your Son taught us always on our lips, we ask, we seek, we knock at your door: help us so to seek that we may truly find, so to ask that we may joyfully receive, and so to knock that the door of mercy may be opened for us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit one God, now and forever. Amen.

A reading from the prophet Hosea
Hosea 1.2-10
When the Lord began to speak through Hosea, the Lord said to him, Go, marry a promiscuous woman and have children with her, for like an adulterous wife this land is guilty of unfaithfulness to the Lord . So he married Gomer daughter of Diblaim, and she conceived and bore him a son. Then the Lord said to Hosea, Call him Jezreel, because I will soon punish the house of Jehu for the massacre at Jezreel, and I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel. In that day I will break Israels bow in the Valley of Jezreel. Gomer conceived again and gave birth to a daughter. Then the Lord said to Hosea, Call her Lo-Ruhamah (which means not loved), for I will no longer show love to Israel, that I should at all forgive them. Yet I will show love to Judah; and I will save them not by bow, sword or battle, or by horses and horsemen, but I, the Lord their God, will save them. After she had weaned Lo-Ruhamah, Gomer had another son. Then the Lord said, Call him Lo-Ammi (which means not my people), for you are not my people, and I am not your God. Yet the Israelites will be like the sand on the seashore, which cannot be measured or counted. In the place where it was said to them, You are not my people, they will be called children of the living God. Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. RESPONSORIAL PSALM Response: Show us, O Lord, your mercy Thanks be to God. Psalm 85
Lord, you were gracious to your land; you restored the fortunes of Jacob. You forgave the offence of your people and covered all their sins. You laid aside all your fury and turned from your wrathful indignation..........................R Restore us again, O God our Saviour, and let your anger cease from us. Will you be displeased with us for ever? Will you stretch out your wrath from one generation to another?
Will you not give us life again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your mercy, O Lord, and grant us your salvation............................................................R I will listen to what the Lord God will say, for he shall speak peace to his people and to the faithful, that they turn not again to folly. Truly, his salvation is near to those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land. Mercy and truth are met together, righteousness and peace have kissed each other;........................R Truth shall spring up from the earth and righteousness look down from heaven. The Lord will indeed give all that is good, and our land will yield its increase. Righteousness shall go before him and direct his steps in the way..........................................................R SECOND READING Colossians 2.6-15
A reading from the letter to the Colossians So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ. For in Christ all the fulness of the Deity lives in bodily form, and in Christ you have been brought to fulness. He is the head over every power and authority. In him you were also circumcised with a circumcision not performed by human hands. Your whole self ruled by the flesh was put off when you were circumcised by Christ, having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through your faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead. When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having cancelled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross. Hear what the Spirit is saying to the Church. Thanks be to God.
GOSPEL ACCLAMATION Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia! Ask, and it will be given you; search and | you will find; knock, and the door will be o- | pened to you. Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
GOSPEL
A reading from the holy gospel according to Luke Glory to you, Lord Jesus Christ.
Luke 11.1-13
Jesus was praying in a certain place, and after he had finished, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples. He said to them, When you pray, say:Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us. And do not bring us to the time of trial. And he said to them, Suppose one of you has a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say to him, Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; for a friend of mine has arrived, and I have nothing to set before him. And he answers from within, Do not bother me; the door has already been locked, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything. I tell you, even though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, at least because of his persistence he will get up and give him whatever he needs. So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given to you; search, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened for you. For everyone who asks receives, and everyone who searches finds, and for everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. Is there anyone among you who, if your child asks for a fish, will give a snake instead of a fish? Or if the child asks for an egg, will give a scorpion? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him! For the Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. THE PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL Father in heaven, in your goodness you pour out on your people all that they need, and satisfy those who persist in prayer. Church 4 Kids 5pm - 6.30pm Clegy Conference Monday - Thursday this week - Pastoral issues please contact the Wardens. Direct Debit Offerings: Parish Account details: CBA Account Name Kilmore Anglican Parish. BSB 063-698. Account Number 1018 4649. Church 4 Kids: Our monthly Church 4 Kids meets this Sunday. If you would like to help out in this important ministry to young people, please contact Fr Kim, Caroline or Nerrida. Our programme includes story time, games, activities, songs, prayer time and BBQ. Assistance with any part of the programme would be gratefully accepted. Church 4 Kids is for Primary Age children and under - please spread the word to family members, friends and neighbours. To all our grandparents in the parish - why not bring your grandchildren along??? Helpers for Parish Op Shop: We are in urgent need of more volunteers to help in the Op Shop on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings. The Parish relies heavily on our Op Shop to keep the Parish afloat financially, as well as giving a great ministry to the wider community. It would be a shame if the Op Shop were to close on some occasions due to lack of helpers. If you can assist in any way to go on the rosters, please contact Dianne Dixon or Jenny Pearson (Op Shop Committee). Thank you. Giving Envelopes: Our current Giving Envelopes started just three weeks ago but there are still many sets available at the back of the churches. If you currently don't use Direct Debit for your weekly offering, then please consider using the Giving Envelopes. This not only helps keep our Offertory giving regular but also assists when we are away. It is imperative for our parish budget to have a regular weekly income. If you haven't taken a set in the past, please consider taking a set today. Parish Directory: Last chance this week to fill in your name and address for the 2013 Parish Directory. Please contact Caroline if you have any concerns about this. If there are less names than the 2011 edition, then it won't be worth reprinting. Heaters for Christ Church: As many have experienced, Christ Church would have to be one of the coldest buildings in the parish. Sadly we don't have the money to put heating in this year and we are aware that this is keeping people away. If you have a small heater you wish to bring along each week, please feel free to do so. Piva House: Piva House in Broadford (the old Rectory) is available for rent. It has been newly renovated and situated in the main street of Broadford. If you or anyone you knows wishes to rent locally please contact Fr Kim or John Patterson. Key Register: Parish Council are updating the Key Register of all keys to parish buildings. If you currently have keys to Christ Church, Church House, St Matthew's,
Notices
Gavan Hall, St Stephen's or The Church of the Transfiguration, please contact one of the wardens. Sharner Mitchell will be co-ordinating this. Morning Teas: To assist the parish finances in a small way, we are asking for donations of tea, coffee (both instant and ground), sugar and milk for our Sunday Morning Teas. Currently this gets put on the parish account. This is a small way in which parishioners (and maybe those who are unable to help on any rosters) can assist with our budgeting.
