Friday of the Twenty-Sixth Week in Ordinary Time

INTRODUCTORY RITES
Introduction
Greetings and blessings to all. As we celebrate the Holy Eucharist, we are invited to dwell upon a profound and
timeless theme that resonates throughout the scriptures: the enduring love and mercy of our Creator. In the
ordinary moments of our lives, we discover extraordinary grace and the opportunity for transformation.
Today's Mass Readings illuminate this theme, guiding us to reflect on our own journey of faith and how we can
embrace God's love and compassion in the midst of life's daily challenges. As we gather to explore the Word of
God, let us be inspired to carry this theme with us beyond these sacred moments, allowing it to shape our
hearts and actions in service to others and in our pursuit of spiritual growth. Let us all stand and join the choir
in singing the Entrance Song, as we welcome our celebrant, Rev. Fr. Roy Alipio.
Entrance Song:
Entrance Antiphon
O Lord, you had just cause to judge men as you did: because we sinned against you and disobeyed your will.
But now show us your greatness of heart, and treat us with your unbounded kindness.
Sign of the Cross
All make the Sign of the Cross as the Priest says:
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.
All: Amen.
Greeting
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
All: And with Your Spirit
Penitential Act
I confess to almighty God and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin, all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Priest: May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
All: Amen.
Priest: Lord, have mercy.
All: Lord, have mercy.
Priest: Christ, have mercy.
All: Christ, have mercy.
Priest: Lord, have mercy.
All: Lord, have mercy.
The Gloria
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to people of good will.
We praise you, we bless you, we adore you, we glorify you,
we give you thanks for your great glory, Lord God, heavenly King,
O God, almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, Only Begotten Son, Lord God, Lamb of God,
Son of the Father, you take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us;
you take away the sins of the world, receive our prayer; you are seated at the right hand
of the Father, have mercy on us.
For you alone are the Holy One, you alone are the Lord, you alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ,
with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
Collect/Opening Prayer
Priest:
Let us pray
[for God’s forgiveness and for the happiness it brings]
Father, you show your almighty power in your mercy and forgiveness. Continue to fill us with your gifts of
love. Help us to hurry toward the eternal life you promise and come to share in the joys of your kingdom.
Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,
for ever and ever.

All: Amen.
Commentator: PLEASE ALL BE SEATED FOR THE LITURGY OF THE WORD

LITURGY OF THE WORD

A reading from the book of Baruch.
During the Babylonian captivity, the exiles prayed: "Justice is with the Lord, our God;
and we today are flushed with shame, we men of Judah and citizens of Jerusalem,
that we, with our kings and rulers and priests and prophets, and with our ancestors,
have sinned in the Lord's sight and disobeyed him. We have neither heeded the voice of the Lord, our God,
nor followed the precepts which the Lord set before us.
From the time the Lord led our ancestors out of the land of Egypt until the present day, we have been
disobedient to the Lord, our God, and only too ready to disregard his voice.
And the evils and the curse that the Lord enjoined upon Moses, his servant, at the time he led our ancestors
forth from the land of Egypt to give us the land flowing with milk and honey, cling to us even today.
For we did not heed the voice of the Lord, our God, in all the words of the prophets whom he sent us,
but each one of us went off after the devices of his own wicked heart, served other gods,
and did evil in the sight of the Lord, our God."
The Word of the Lord.
All: Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm – Psalms 79:1B-2, 3-5, 8, 9
Response: For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.

O God, the nations have come into your inheritance;

they have defiled your holy temple,
they have laid Jerusalem in ruins.
They have given the corpses of your servants
as food to the birds of heaven,
the flesh of your faithful ones to the beasts of the earth.
Response: For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
They have poured out their blood like water
round about Jerusalem,
and there is no one to bury them.
We have become the reproach of our neighbors,
the scorn and derision of those around us.
O LORD, how long? Will you be angry forever?
Will your jealousy burn like fire?
Response: For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
Remember not against us the iniquities of the past;
may your compassion quickly come to us,
for we are brought very low.
Response: For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
Help us, O God our savior,
because of the glory of your name;
Deliver us and pardon our sins
for your name’s sake.
Response: For the glory of your name, O Lord, deliver us.
Commentator: PLEASE ALL STAND
Alleluia (sung)
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
If today you hear his voice,
harden not your hearts.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel – Luke 10:13-16
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke

All: Glory to you, O Lord.

Jesus said to them,
"Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida!
For if the mighty deeds done in your midst
had been done in Tyre and Sidon,
they would long ago have repented,
sitting in sackcloth and ashes.
But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon
at the judgment than for you.
And as for you, Capernaum, 'Will you be exalted to heaven?
You will go down to the netherworld.'
Whoever listens to you listens to me.
Whoever rejects you rejects me.
And whoever rejects me rejects the one who sent me."

The Gospel of the Lord

All: Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ
Commentator: PLEASE ALL BE SEATED AND LET US LISTEN ATTENTIVELY TO THE HOMILY.

CREED
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting.
Amen.
