Ata Marie Koutou, Waiouru School is in full swing for our Science Fair with classes preparing some spectacular displays and projects. Our actual show will be next week on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st of June in the school hall. Our judges Kim Base, Principal of Ruapehu College and her HOD of Science will be judging from 10am Thursday morning. The hall will be open for viewing from 3pm - 4.30pm Thursday and all day Friday until 4pm. All are welcome to come and see the displays during this time. The winners from each category will be taken to the Taihape Cluster Science Fair on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd of July in the Taihape Town Hall. These displays will be open to the public for the two days, and opening times will be advertised in the Taihape District Times newspaper closer to the date. Now I will hand the rest of my section over to a couple of guest writers from Miss Fogden's class. The theme of their pieces are "Why is Waiouru School special?" I think Waiouru School is great because of all the nice people. They help you out and when you are feeling down in the dumps they always cheer you up! Another reason is in comparison to other schools we have some of the best sport players and our school colours are so bright! We always do great things at our school like having a challenge in maths and going on ipads and laptops and on computers. We get to go on trips to Mt Ruapehu and Raetihi for running and tuff kid! I like my school and I hope I stay in it for years to come. By Jordan Hughes I think Waiouru School is special because we learn kapahaka and more stuff and I think Waiouru school is special because it is in a military camp and we learn about what inquisitive might mean. Theres always persistence most of the time and theres some people thats eager to learn and we try hard of more thinking and trying to do extra hard work and we show lots and lots of hard work and very interesting things on our work. After morning tea and lunchtime we always pick a book for reading. We even go to school trips it is fun. And the name of our classroom is Toutouwai. It is a Maori name for robins. We do maths first thing on the morning we do the roll to see whos here or not. By Anthony Tupou Ka kite ano Marama
