T SHIRT UPDATE
We had a terrific response from you for The Green’s T shirts and golf shirts. We thank
you for your enthusiasm and support of this project, especially Susan Farmer who
graciously volunteered her services to be responsible for taking the T-shirt, and golf
shirt orders.

Katherine has been in charge of the Greens Library at the Ridge Oak
Clubhouse for the past ten years and has "passed the baton" to Connie McCay
in March. The Greens Community appreciates her efforts in keeping our
library well organized with both hardback & paperback editions of popular
books for the reading enjoyment of the residents. She has also gathered
surplus books that have been donated to the Assistance League and the
Southwest Library for their fund raising activities. Our library is a busy
place thanks to the efforts of Katherine and her "helpers".
If you have any ideas of what you would like to see in our library, please
let Connie know. Her committee is considering a "Classics" section,
historical fiction selections, and even having some children's books
available for when grandchildren visit. The Greens Book Club, The Page
Turners, meets every other month for a lively discussion of the books
selected for that meeting and are always looking for new participants.
Our next meeting is on April 14th, at 7:00 p.m., in the library at the Ridge Oak Club
House. We will be discussing “Dewey” by Vickie Myron and “Franklin and Winston”
by John Meacham.

LINE DANCING
Every Friday at the White Oak Clubhouse from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., it is an ideal
way to improve your fitness, along with building coordination and memory skills, while
having fun. Both men and women are welcome. Come join us.
For questions or further information, please call Doris Schroeder at 665-4645 or Jenny
Lai at 663-0182.
It is difficult for me to express the depth of gratitude I feel toward all my friends for
their sympathy and support.
I want to thank everyone for the work they did at the White Oak clubhouse for the
celebration of Judy’s life.
She was a very special person and to know her was to love her. We waited half a
lifetime to get together, and had six wonderful years. The highest compliment I could
give her is that if I were going to design a wife, I would use Judy as
the pattern
Thank you all again for all your support it means so much to me.

Get those beach towels and sunscreen out! We are getting the pools ready for the 2009
swimming season! If the weather cooperates we plan to start heating the pool water on
the 1st of April.
Also back for a repeat performance are our seasonal, but uninvited, guests. Yes, the
mallard ducks are visiting our pools and making quite a mess, pooping everywhere. We
have put inflatable creatures in the pools in an attempt to scare them away. So, please
refrain from using the inflatable’s as toys and please leave them in the pools.
If you do see the ducks in the pools, please try to frighten them away. If we keep at it,
they will go find a nesting place somewhere else. Thanks for your help.
Your Pool Committee is dedicated to making our facilities a joy for you and your guests
to use. We all volunteer our time and service to help our community remain as one of
the best adult communities around. Pool Committee members are: Jim Meehan, Rendall
Brushey, Dennis Dilley, Nick Marantos, Jim Mattern, John Merrill and LeRoy Sacchini.
Don't be bashful about giving them a thank you!

SOGGY NEWS
Our March program featured Dave Bolar, the enthusiast Golf Pro at Sundale C. C. Dave started out as
cart boy at Stockdale C.C. back in the early 70’s. Worked with Jim Kiger at Sundale as an assistant,
then he was involved in the banking business with his father in Oklahoma before coming back to
Sundale C.C. as the pro 1997. Dave also was a member of B.C.C.’s championship golf team in 1979.
An interesting point Dave made to us was that the majority of golfers he watches practice spend the
majority of their time hitting the driver, when in fact the quickest way to improve your score is in the
putting and short game phase part of your game. Think about it!
Dave owns the golf shop at Sundale. Besides controlling the golf shop Dave spends the majority of his
day giving golf lessons. Anyone interested in talking to him can reach him at 831-5224. Incidentally
Seven Oaks C.C. does have a reciprocal agreement with Sundale C.C.
The results from April’s two-man scramble golf tournament held at Seven Oaks were as follows.
1st Place: Rendall Brushey and Roy Sessions, 63 net.
2nd Place: Dave Fraysher and Don Stussy, 66net.
3rd Place: Dick Nankervis and Lin Fraiser, 66 net.
4th Place: Charlie Powell and Richard Mansoor, 67 net.
5th Place: Max Jacobsen and Buddy Divoti, 67 net.
6th Place: Jim Mattern and Ken Best, 68 net.
7th Place: Jere Kinnan and Mike Strong, 69 net.
8th Place: Bill Atkinson and Tony Castro, 69 net.
Closest-to-the-pin: Tom Trotter, Lakes #3, 16’4”.
Luncheon and awards were given out at the White Oak Clubhouse afterward. Gary Skaggs was the
chief chef; Harvey Campbell was in charge of directing Al DeRisio and Roy Hendrix to flip the
“SOGGY Devine Burgers “ at the precise moment of perfection. Lastly thanks to Joe Haggarty,
Johnny Johnson and Rendall Brushey for their tournament help.
The April Program is Don Ciota, General Manager at Seven Oaks C.C.
Don’t forget Charlie Powell’s golf outing at River Island C.C. on Tuesday April 14th. Call him for
details. If you haven’t been to River Island C.C. before, you are in for a treat.
Chip Shot.
“Its not a gimmie if you are still away”!
Remember a Soggy, by definition, is any male who resides in The Greens or Brighton Parks who plays
golf. Don’t be bashful come join us the first Monday of each month (unless a holiday forces us to
move back one week) for interesting programs, coffee/donuts and friendship.
AS A REMINDER, OUR NEXT MEETING IS MONDAY APRIL 6TH, 2009 AT THE WHITEOAK
CLUBHOUSE, 9:00 A.M!

HOMEOWNER WEBSITE LAUNCH
The initial phase of our community website was activated last month. I hope you had the opportunity
to check it out and pass along the website address to your friends and family.
Beginning April 6th the homeowner phase of the website will be on-line and can be accessed by
residents. The homeowner section is password protected and will be for community residents only.
To access the homeowner section you go to the website at: www.thegreensatsevenoaks.org In the top
right corner of the home page, there will be two boxes for Login Name and Password. In the Login,
input your last name followed by the first two letters of your first name. Note: The first name used is
the first name listed in the recently issued telephone directory. In the Password, input temporary pass
code 123456 (Example: Login Name: BRUSHEYre PW: 123456). Following your initial login you
can change the temporary pass code by clicking “Change Login Here” icon on the homeowner home

In addition to the information currently contained on the greensindependent website, the homeowner
section provides several new and enhanced features. The main features include; an on-line calendar of
events, newsletter with option of email delivery, a community BLOG along with a links section that
includes many helpful web links.
The new calendar can be viewed in either a weekly or monthly format. If you highlight an event, it
will provide additional details such as location, contact person, etc.
The monthly newsletter will be viewable online and also can be downloaded or emailed to friends. In
addition you have the option to sign up for email delivery of the newsletter and notices. To register

delivery whether home or on the road you will be kept informed of what is going on in The Greens at
Seven Oaks.
The Community BLOG has three sections, Recent Events, Recommendations, and News & Info. In
the Recent Events section as an example, photos and write-up of a community event such as the recent
Casino Night can be posted. You can post your comments for everyone to review. We have posted
an example in Recent Events. Click on Comments to view comments made or post your own
comments.
Remember, every time someone visits the website, additional internet connections are established
making it easier for search engines to find our website. All of us can help in this area. If you have
not done so already, I would ask you to email your relatives, friends, and acquaintances asking them to
visit the website. It’s easy and costs zero dollars.
I welcome your feedback about the website and ways we might enhance it in the future. Please call
or email me at [email protected].
