MONTHLY CRIME BULLETIN


Burglary
January 2013
Activity Summary:
There were seventeen (17) burglaries reported in January 2013. There were seven (7) burglaries reported
during the same time frame in 2012. This is a 143% increase from 2012 to 2013.
Sixteen (16), or 94%, of the incidents involved residential locations.
Ten (10) incidents, or 59%, involved forced entry.
Eight (8) incidents, or 47%, were discovered on a Monday and seven (7), or 41%, were discovered on a
Tuesday.
Five (5) incidents, or 29%, were discovered between the hours of 0400 0759.
Nine (9) incidents are open for further investigation, six (6) have been closed with leads exhausted and two
(2) have been closed due to victim refusal to cooperate.
Comments/Recommendations:
Historically, HPD has an average of 18 burglaries during the month of January with a current threshold of 12 to 24.
This January, we were within the threshold with 17 reported burglaries.
Forecast for February:
The average number of burglaries for the month of February is 14 plus or minus 6. By the end of February, there is
a 68% chance HPD will have received between 8 and 20 reported burglaries.
