Description

• Shape recurved
• Surface buff / brownish colour
shows deep cracks
longitudinally wrinkled
• Odourless
• Taste bitter
• Fracture short , granular , splintery

• Cork tangentially & radially elongated
• Cork cambium present in several layers
• Cortex stone cells single/groups horizontal layers
Phloem fibers absent
Parenchyma encircle stone cells &
also contain starch
• Medullary rays multiseriate
Widen towards outer side
In between them stone cells
& calcium oxalate present
