& Building Confidence

This course teaches the beginning building


blocks of public speaking. Within the fun
milieu of show and tell, storytelling and
poetry recitals, the goal is for your child to

Little Medical School, designed and


developed by board certified physicians,
engages students with medical based
hands-on demonstrations, crafts, songs, and
games. The interactive activities and games
will grasp every student's curiosity as they

Our popular tennis camps emphasize stroke
FUNdamentals with dynamic games and
exciting drills that enhance skill development.

GREEN BEAN KIDZ

Green Bean Kidz is an outdoor education


program for children. Participants experience nature in many fun ways including
hiking and observing their surroundings.
The program incorporates music, art,
science, games, and movement -- all focused
on ecology and environmental awareness.

Economic Driving School

This course meets the State of California


requirement to obtain a drivers instruction
permit. Upon completion, each student
will receive a Certificate of Completion of
Classroom Driver Education. Students must
attend all sessions in order to receive the
DMV certificate.

Melodys Piano: Toddler

A new approach to lead toddlers into the


musical world. A pre-piano/keyboard lesson
with introduction to music terminology,
keyboard playing and rhythm training using
a fun storytelling method. The class prepares
students for future piano lessons by helping
students develop musical character.

Note: Parent participation is required.

Camp jelly bean is a camp for our younger


campers, an introductory camp, if you will.
Set at the San Antonio Club, which is home
to our Tiny Tot Programs Terrific 3s and
Fabulous 4s classes, it is a natural setting for
these tiny participants. Camps are, in fact,
run by some of our Tiny Tot staff so
the campers are in a safe, fun and age
appropriate environment.
Required for all Camp jelly bean sessions:

COMBO CAMPS
BY POPULAR DEMAND!

COMBO CAMPS

Combine our Camp Shoup with one of our eligible Redwood Grove camps and, presto,
you have an all day camp!
Heres how it works: Your child will attend one of our classic camps, Camp Shoup or
Redwood Grove, from 9am-12pm. Then, at 12pm, we will take all campers signed up for
Combo Camp to the Underground for lunch and games. At 1pm, staff will walk campers
to the appropriate afternoon camp. Simple.
Descriptions of Camp Shoup and all our Redwood Grove camps are listed over the following
pages. Take a look and see what your camper might enjoy. If you are looking for half-day
camps, just use the class codes listed under your desired camp; if you want to register for
our combo camps, use the class code listed below. Combo Camps are only available for
Adventurer, Naturalist and Survivor age groups.

Set in Los Altos backyard, Redwood Grove


Nature Preserve is the perfect setting for
an introduction to and/or enhancement of
a love of nature, ecology and stewardship
concepts. Redwood Grove summer campers
explore our natural environment through
hands-on activities such as games, songs,
hikes, arts and crafts, and an enthusiastic staff
in this nature-based camp. Activities and
lessons for each camp are age-appropriate.

Whats happening under that rock? Lets find


out together! Campers will develop observation skills using their five senses while discovering the great outdoors! Each week will
bring new themes to teach nature concepts.
The program is designed to foster the love
of the outdoors through gardening, hiking,
animal presentations, crafts, and hands-on
activities. Leader-to-camper ratio is 1:6.

RWG Preschool Explorers:

Lets play outside! Discover nature through all
five senses and find the wonders in our own
backyard. Engaging their curiosity, campers
will explore the redwoods through multisensory experiences of games, arts and crafts,

develop a love of the outdoors, awareness of
sustainability, live animal presentations, and
lessons in archery. Concepts such as ecology,
conservation and biology take on new meaning when sitting under 100-foot redwood

Reconnect with the outdoors this summer


at Redwood Grove. Campers will challenge
their understanding of ecology and science
through activities under the big trees. All
campers will have a chance to learn archery,

CAMP SHOUP
Camp Shoup is the fun-filled week of camp
we remember from our youth: where we
learned to play well together, made friends,
whiled away the hours just enjoying summer,
and had fun the old fashioned way--through
PLAY! Participants will partake in games

Bacon, Sharks and Minnows and Capture the

Counselors-in-Training
Counselors-in-Training:
12-15yrs
Teens learn leadership skills, how to work
with young children, the natural history of
the redwoods, and California habitats in a
one-day workshop. Then they will gain work
experience firsthand as Counselors to our
Explorers and Adventurers campers.
No experience with children is needed.
Each one-week session includes an introduction to training in leading camp activities
and participant safety.
All participants are highly encouraged to
attend the one-day training workshop on
Friday, June 17, from 9:30am to 12pm, at
The Underground. Training for Redwood
Grove and Camp Shoup will be provided
on this day. No make-up day is available.
Required for ALL Counselor-in-Training
participants:
All participants should wear their camp T-shirt
(handed out on Monday), play clothes and
closed-toe shoes every day.
Please send your camper with a water bottle
and a no-trash snack using reusable containers, and sunscreen every day.

medical release form prior to the beginning

KIDS' CARPENTRY

Kids learn to safely use hand woodworking


tools to build an ever-increasing range of
projects as their skills increase. Instructor will
show kids how to build an age appropriate project, then let them do it, helping as
necessary.

BEAUTIFUL PATTERNS IN
NATURE & MATH

Fibonacci numbers in nature and polygonal


numbers and their sequences are some of the
most beautiful math children can discover in
this hands-on camp. We will explore math
in flowers, pine cones, the Nautilus shell and
the sand dollar, making 2-D arrangements
and building 3-D pyramid-like structures.
Peter Koehler has a Ph.D. in theoretical
physics and has taught creative math enrichment and art for over 20 years in schools and
community centers. Most of those academic
years have been spent at the Nueva School in
Hillsborough where he brings out the mathematical creativity in his students.

Camp: Level 2

Step up the performance during a week of


refining your windsurfing and sailing skills!
Challenge yourself wind conditions will be
stronger for this level. Hone your skills with
our team of certified advanced instructors
and start racing.

Paddle Sports Day Camp

Campers will learn paddle and boating skills


required to master a wide range of paddle
sports. Throughout this week-long camp,
campers will work with kayaks, canoes and
stand up paddleboards. The Olympic sport of
kayak polo will also be introduced.
Equipment Note: Students should bring
comfortable clothes, a bathing suit, a jacket
or fleece, a towel, lots of sun protection, shoes
and/or sandals. No flip-flops.

Baby Boot Camp is a 75-minute stroller fitness class. Get an all-body workout including

using stable sea kayaks equipped with
rudders and comfortable seatbacks.

Moonrise Kayak
at Elkhorn Slough

Elkhorn Slough is one of Californias largest


remaining coastal wetlands. This salt marsh
is home to thousands of birds and numerous
harbor seals and sea otters. We will spend
an evening exploring the quiet waterways of
the seven mile long slough, getting a unique
look at the wildlife and flora of this preserve.
As we paddle home after dark, we will
watch the moon rise over the hills of lovely
Prunedale.
Equipment Notes: Our trip will go rain or shine.
Please dress accordingly. Fleece, polyester or
other synthetic clothes are the best for paddling, with a windbreaker on top. It can be cool
and foggy. Lightweight or old running shoes
work well for your feet. (No large boots, please.)
Also, please bring windbreaker or light parka,
hat, sunscreen and sunglasses, binoculars and
camera, water, picnic dinner or snacks, spare
warm clothes for the car.

This dedicated group of volunteers have been creating


Monkey Sock Toys for young patients at Lucille Packard
Childrens Hospital for close to 40 years. In 2015, the
group produced 380 monkeys. These toys serve as a
great comfort to children who are undergoing treatment
at the medical center. By the numbers (for 2015 alone):

Weekend workdays are held 1-2 times per
