Overview
This course is designed to educate students on key historical world events.
Students will be expected to think critically, analyze primary and secondary sources and
utilize technology. Students will be required to turn in assignments on time and take part
in all in class activities. The course will be rigorous and will contain tests, quizzes, papers
and a final project.
INSTRUCTIONAL GOALS
At the end of this course, students will
Know the difference between primary and secondary sources and the benefits and
drawbacks of each.
Be able to analyze historical text and think critically
Be able to craft a well written historical paper utilizing primary and secondary
sources
Examine how key historical event have played an important role in shaping the
modern world
Assignments
Final Project
Students will research a topic, approved by teacher, and construct a five to ten page paper
and present findings. Presentation can be slideshows, posters and other means as long as
they have been approved by the teacher.
Midterm
Students will take a mid-course assessment covering information from the first eight
weeks of the class. Assessment will consists on multiple choice and essay questions.
Tests
Throughout the course, students will take three test fifty points each.
Homework
Students will be responsible for daily homework.
Papers
Students will construct multiple short papers throughout the first eight weeks in
preparation for the final project.
Quizzes
Students will take short quizzes to help prepare for midterm, tests and state standardized
tests.
Attendance/Participation
Students are required to attend class and participate in all class activates.
