FYI

The school opens at 7:30 a.m. If your child arrives before this time,
he/she will need to go to the lunchroom until the bell rings. Students
are not allowed in the halls or the classroom before this time.
Breakfast is served each morning until 8:00 a.m.
Please have your child at school before 8:05 each morning. If your
child arrives after 8:05, he/she will need to stop by the front office
and sign in. You will also need to provide a note explaining the tardy.
If your child is absent from school, please provide a note so that
his/her absence can be excused.
Please send all money in an envelope and write your childs name and the
purpose for the money on the envelope.
You may send a snack for your child to eat after rotation.
Children do not have access to a refrigerator or microwave, please
make sure lunches and snacks are packed with this in mind.
If you would like for your child to celebrate his/her birthday at school,
please call and make arrangements with me a few days ahead of time.
This will be done at 1:15 p.m. Please only send individually packed drinks
and snacks. For example, punches and cupcakes or cookiesno cakes
please.

Homework Folder and Agendas


Each night your child should bring home his/her
homework folder and agenda. He/she should return
them to school each morning.
A homework sheet will be sent home in the agenda
on Mondays to let you know what to expect for
homework for the entire week. This will be found
in your childs agenda.
This sheet will include spelling words, math facts,
rotation schedule for the week, and important dates.

The homework sheet each week will specify what


homework is to be completed in the folder.
For example: spelling word practice, math fact
practice, vocabulary review, or grammar sentences.

Folders and Agendascontinued


Each days class work papers will be sent home
in the homework folder.
Take these papers out and leave them at
home.
Please review class work each night. This will
reinforce the skills students are learning at
school.
Make sure any homework is put back in the
folder and returned to school the following day.
Your childs agenda is where you will find notes
from the teacher.
You may also write any notes to me in your
childs agenda.

Weekly Papers
Each Wednesday, signed papers will be sent
home. These are the graded papers from
the previous week.
Weekly spelling test, math test (math facts or unit),
reading test, grammar, and science and/or social studies
test

Please sign the top sheet and send the


entire packet back to school on Thursday.
Please review these papers with your child
each week.
Check to see if he/she understands or needs
extra help

Behavior
Each Wednesday, a conduct report will be sent home. This
report will let you know about your childs conduct from the
previous week. Please sign this report and send it back on
Thursday.
Rules:

5- Complete Class work/Turn in Homework
6- On Task During Work Stations
These are the rules that your student is expected to follow.
When these rules are not followed there will be consequences.

1st offense = Warning


2nd offense = 5 minutes time-out of recess
3rd offense = 10 minutes time-out of recess
4th offense = recess detention and note home

Reading Stations
Reading Stations are conducted during
Small Group Reading for 45 minutes each
day.
These stations reinforce phonics skills,
sight words, spelling and vocabulary words,
reading and comprehension, fluency, and
writing.
Small groups of students are pulled during
this time to individualize instruction to
better meet students needs.

Math Stations
Math stations are conducted during small
group math timeabout 40 minutes each
day.
These stations are planned to reinforce
weekly skills such as number sentences and
math facts.
The students work on the computer, work
with manipulatives, and play math games.
Small groups are also pulled during this
time to better meet students needs.
