TRUSS..
A truss is a structure comprising five or more triangular units constructed with straight
members whose ends are connected at joints referred to as nodes.
trusses mainly consist of three elements:
1. Rafters to support the roofing material
2. Purlins to provide intermediate support to rafters and
3. Trusses to provide to the ends of purlins.
The various types of trusses in use are:
King post truss
Queen post truss
Combination of king post and queen post trusses.
Mansard truss
Truncated truss
Bel-fast truss
Steel trusses
Composite trusses

Steel roof trusses are for lager span as


compared to wooden trusses.
Steel roof trusses are mainly fabricated
with angle sections.
The angle sections are jointed together
by rivets , welding or nuts and bolts.
Gusset plates are also used in
connections.
Recently gusset plates are replaced by
welding the members directly.
