1) BLUE CARD STORE; The boys receive blue cards to reward/encourage professional behavior and beautiful singing. They can spend these blue cards in the BLUE CARD STORE once a month or so. I bring the loot from the BBC office (Your tuition dollars at work!) but we need parent volunteers to help run the store. This involves 1) helping set out the merchandise, 2) monitoring the boys as they shop, 3) bagging each boys loot and making sure his name is clearly marked on the bag and tying it closed securely, and 4) repacking the left over stuff to go back to the BBC Office. The boys are instructed that if they open their loot bag before getting in the car to go home, they forfeit their stuff! In this we are inserting a modicum of parental control on the intake and use of their purchases! 2) REHEARSAL MONITORS: It is very important that there always be at least ONE (1) parent monitor in the rehearsals. Just FYI, this is our BBC policy for all rehearsals in every satellite and full location. Parents monitors are so helpful in passing out and collecting music, handing out (or commandeering from) Blue Cards as needed, dealing with minor issues like folder malfunctions, nametags, assisting and monitoring non-rehearsing boys, etc. In addition, many parents seem to enjoy observing the rehearsals and hearing the progress the boys make as persons as well as singers. They are endlessly entertaining and why should Mr. Berg have all the fun!? SO these are things with which we need help from those parents who are available and interested. It is certainly NOT required of everyone, but you do have the opportunity, should you wish to avail yourselves. Again, MELISSA FIELD is coordinating all of this Parent Volunteer activity. (Thank you, Melissa!...again and again!)
Monthly tuition for Junior Choristers: $80 for August through May. This includes robe and music fees. Additional fee: $15 for BBC Junior Chorister t-shirt if your son doesnt already have one. THE BBC Business Director has respectfully requested that NO MONIES ever come to KEN! (sigh) She is requesting that all tuition and fees, any monies at all, be sent to her, checks payable to the BIRMINGHAM BOYS CHOIR only, please. AND please mark clearly on the memo line what is to be included in the check, i.e. tuition, T-shirt, whatever. Please mail these before the 1 st rehearsal of each month to: SUSAN SIMON, Business Director BIRMINGHAM BOYS CHOIR 10 Old Montgomery Highway, Suite 140 BIRMINGHAM, AL 35209
PLEASE NOTE: the suite 140 will change soon. The building manager is moving the BBC office up to the 2 nd
flooragain!! Remember also that there is a 10% discount on TUITION if the total semester (5 months at $80 per month) is paid by August 31 st . That makes the Semester Tuition $360.00 if paid by August 31 st .
BBC Uniform: (must be secured before the Christmas concert) black dress pants, long black socks, black dress shoes (no black athletic shoes, please!), black belt, black BBC t-shirt. The boys will actually wear robes for this concert, but must have their uniform on beneath.
