Gelli printed and glitter paste stenciled card set – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s my turn over at Rubber Dance blog today again and I am up with a Christmas card set. For these cards I used the Textured Xmas Trees 2 stamp set with the Xmas Trees 1 stencil. I have been playing quite a lot with this stencil, because you can do so many different things with it and it´s slowly but surely turning into a big favorite of mine.

Here is how I created these cards:

I started by creating DIY background paper with a gel plate and acrylic paints. I rolled red acrylic paint onto my gel plate with a brayer, then quickly “lifted” the ink off by pressing the Textured Xmas Trees 2 stamp onto the paint and this way removing the paint from that area. Next I let the paint dry, before applying light blue paint over the red layer. Then I pressed white paper onto the image to create the background paper pattern.

Next I took some glitter paste in green and some papers I had brayered residue paint onto. I placed the stencil over the paper and applied a good layer of the paste with a palette knife onto the paper. As the paste is quite thick, it needs to dry well first.

After the glitter trees were dry, I fussy cut them and left a little of the painted background to be seen around the edges for more interest. Then I added some 3D adhesive foam onto two of them and adhered the middle one directly onto the background and the other two slightly overlappingly on both sides of it.

Adding the 3D foam adds even more depth to the card. For finishing touches I stamped the sentiments onto a white cardstock piece and adhered them onto the card base also with 3D foam. Finally I stamped some stars with black stamp ink to the background.

By the way, if you don´t own any colored glitter paste, you can add loose glitter to a transparent texture paste and mix your own. I hope I could inspire you a little. Have fun creating!

CAS slimline Christmas cards – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s again my turn to share a project over at Rubber Dance blog. Today I am up with a set of slimline Christmas cards. I used the Textured Xmas Trees 2 stamp set fo create these cards.

For these cards I used the same basic idea, like on the Textured Mushrooms cards I shared here. This time I took a little different Gloss Spray tones and colored all trees with the sprays instead of leaving some uncolored.

I then stamped onto the colored paper with black stamp ink, let the ink dry and fussy cut the images.

After that I arranged the images onto the slimline card bases and adhered them on place. For finishing touches I added some sentiments from the same stamp set. These cards are very fast an easy to do, so if you a looking for a Christmas card idea that is easy to make – this might be just the one.

Also, if you don´t own Gloss Sprays, you can use acrylic paints, stamp inks or other spray inks for the same idea, just instead of glossy paper, take a paper medium suitable for the ink you are using.

Christmas card with Rubber Dance stencils and stamps and recycled material

Hello everyone, it´s again my turn to share a project over at the Rubber Dance blog today and I am up with a stenciled Christmas card idea share this time. For this card I used the Xmas Trees 1 stencil and the Mix It Up 5 stamp set with some Distress Oxide ink. I also added some recycled material a a focal point for this card.

Here is how I created this card:

First I took an old map page and placed the Xmas Trees 1 stencil on it. Then I outlined the tree images with a waterproof black pencil onto the map page. Next I took a premade card base and applied some “speckled egg” Distress Oxide Ink onto a stamping block, misted that with water and pressed the ink very randomly onto the card base.

After that I took the Mix It Up 5 stamp set and stamped random text images with the same stamp ink onto the background. After that I fussy cut the “map trees” and adhered them slightly overlappingly onto the card base.

For finishing touches I added a stamped sentiment with “walnut stain” Distress Oxide ink and a sentiment from the Textured Xmas Trees 2 stamp set. I really like how the card turned out with the “map trees” as a focal point.

I hope this stenciling idea inspires you to create fun, stenciled Christmas cards yourself too!

Clean and simple card set with Textured Mushrooms 2 and Gloss Sprays

Hello! It´s project share day over at Rubber Dance blog today for me and I am up with a mushroom themed card set in clean and simple style and slimline format. I used my favorite fall stamp set (Textured Mushrooms 2) on these cards with Gloss Sprays and a typewriter written sentiment.

Here is how I created the cards:

First I took a piece of glossy cardstock and applied several tones of Gloss Spray onto the surface by wiping the color here and there and then adding some droplets on top.

Next I took the Textured Mushrooms 2 stamp set and stamped mushrooms onto the colored paper with black stamp ink. The ink needs to dry a while, because of the glossy surface, but once it is dry, you can continue with the next step.

After that I fussy cut the colorful mushrooms. For these cards I only needed two of them, so I have plenty still to use on future projects.

Then I stamped smaller mushrooms onto a plain slimline card base with black ink and added a colored, fussy cut mushroom as a centerpiece into th middle of the card (adhered with 3D foam tape). Now I just needed to decorate.

I then wrote a sentiment with my old typewriter onto a piece of leftover gelli printed paper, adhered that onto the card and added some Gloss Spray splatters around the mushrooms and the card was done. I did the same steps with both cards.

I hope you get inspired by this easy-to-do idea and make some fun fall-themed cards yourself! If you don´t own Gloss Sprays, try using other spray paints, spray inks or watercolors. They work just as well for this idea. Just replace the glossy paper with a different one. Have fun!

Slimline fall card with Textured Mushrooms 2 – Rubber Dance

Hello, I am up over at Rubber Dance blog with a fall themed card tutorial today. I absolutely adore the new Textured Mushrooms 2 stamp set and wanted to create a fun mixed media card featuring them.

Here is how I created the card:

I started off with a premade gelli printed background I had used the Organic 3 stencil on (see the video here). After that I applied Distress Oxide Inks thru Big Ovals (walnut stain ink), Lattice (speckled egg ink) and Scribbles 1 (hickory smoke ink) stencils to create even more layers to the background.

Next I took a premade paper I had inked with blue toned Distress Oxide Inks and Marks 3 stencil and added some abandoned coral, mustard seed and hickory smoke Distress Oxide Inks on top to then stamp some Textured Mushrooms 2 images onto the inked areas. I fussy cut the mushrooms, added details with a white gel pen and used them on the card.

Before adhering the background onto my slimline card base, I added some staping with black ink onto it with the Mix It Up 6 stamp set and on top of all the layers I then added some Gloss Spray droplets in turquoise and Magenta.

For finishing touches I adhered the fussy cut mushrooms to the card and chose two fun sentiments to go with them.

Ink blended and stamped clean & simple style cards – Rubber Dance

Hello, I am up over at the Rubber Dance blog with a card set tutorial. For these cards I used plenty of Distress Oxide Inks and two various rubber stamp sets (Weed Love & Round in Circles) from the store.

And this is how I created these cards:

First I added some washi tape to create borders for the area I was about to add ink blending onto. I used Distress Oxide Ink tones: saltwater taffy, spiced marmelade and abandoned coral for the first card. After adding the ink onto the card base I used one of the Weed Love stamp set stamps to add some stamping onto the area using black stamp ink.

Next I added another layer of washi tape on top of the ink blended and stamped area to create a border with black ink and one of the Round in Circles stamps. After that I only had to decorate the card with a sentiment (Tim Holtz Quote Chips) and a few enamel stars and the first card was done.

For the second card I used the same steps, but changed the colors to: hickory smoke, salvaged patina and fossilized amber. After that I added a border with the same stamp as on the previous card, except this time I stamped slightly overlappingly to create a different border. Then to decorate the card with Quote Chips and some green enamel dots.

I hope I could inspire you to play with the stamps featured on today´s post and give ink blending and creating clean and simple styled cards a try. Have fun!!!

Layered, mixed media flower card with gelli background and stamps

Hello, this time I am up with a slimline mixed media flower card share over at the Rubber Dance blog. For this card I used a stenciled and gelli printed background paper that I created & used also on my previous projects (for example here). For the card I used the Loose Florals stamp set, as well as the Mix It Up 6 stamp set and the Round In Circles stamp set.

For the background gelli paper I used acrylic paints with Marks 2 stencil. You can find the video to that in the post linked above.

First I cut the gelli printed paper into right size to match my card base. Then I stamped with the Round In Circles stamp set stamp some circles on top of the gelli image with salvaged patina and spiced marmalade Distress Oxide Inks. After that I grabbed the Mix It Up 6 stamp set and black stamp ink and added some random stamping on top for additional interest and contrast.

After that I stamped some Loose Florals with black stamp ink onto white paper and colored them very loosely with watercolors and fussy cut them.

Finally I added some golden and silver ink droplets onto the fussy cut flowers as well as onto the background. Then I arrenged the flowers onto the card, added a chipboard sentiment and some half pearls for decor.

I had so much fun creating this card. It has quite a few layers again and happy, bold colors. I hope it makes it´s recipient happy and also inspired you to grab your stamp and stencil stash a play a little!!

Butterfly cards with mixed media backgrounds – Rubber Dance

Hello everyone, it´s my turn today to share another fun project over at Rubber Dance blog. I made these cards with the Grungy Butterflies and some gelli printed paper with Marks 2 stencil and Weed Love stamping on top.

For both cards I used some of my previously made gelli printed background papers as a starting point. After cutting them into a right size I added stamping with Weed Love stamps and brown Distress Oxide Ink on top to create an even more layered and interesting background.

After that I used the clustered circle stamp from the Round in Circles stamp set to create an additional pattern to the card.

After that I selected some words from the Mix a Sentiment 2023 stamp set that I had used on a previous project and arranged the words into sentiments. I adhered the butterflies into the middle and the sentiment next to them. For finishing touches I added some glitter glue to the butterfly wings.

I still have plenty of words left, so I might use them it future projects. I really like this sentiment set, because you can build your own sentiments from the various words available in the set. And stamp them out once, fussy cut and they will go a really long way. I hope you got inspired to play with your stamps and stencils and create fun cards!!

Set of card with Mixed Sentiments and Marks 3 stencil with Distress Oxide Inks – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s my turn again to share a set of mixed media cards (and a video tutorial) over at Rubber Dance blog today. For these cards I used the Mixed Sentiments, Mix A Sentiment 2023 and Sketchy Leaves stamp sets and the new Marks 3 stencil and here is how I created the cards:

I started by creating the DIY paper featured in the die cut circles. I always take a spare paper to add my brayer paint residues onto, when I am gelli printing. So I took one of those papers stamped the Mixed Sentiments with a brown Distress Oxide Ink repeatedly in a random order onto the paper.

Next I inked the Marks 3 stencil with 3 tones of blue Distress Oxide inks and misted the layer with a water spray bottle. Then I pressed the stencil onto a piece of white paper to create the pattern. You can use the same inked stencil at least twice, just add water mist and press again onto another paper. There will be variations on pattern and color strength, but that makes the backgrounds even more interesting. No of them will be the same.

After creating both the background and the DIY collage paper, I die cut the collage paper one with circle and flag die cut dies. Then I adhered the stenciled background paper onto white card bases, added the die cut pieces on top and decorated the cards with fussy cut Sketchy Leaves and a bunch of Mix a Sentiment 2023 words. There are lots of layers, but still all of the cards are very flat, so they will be easy to mail.

Slimline birthday card with watercolors and stamps – Rubber Dance

Hello, it´s again my turn to share a project over at the Rubber Dance blog today. I created a fun slimline birthday card using watercolors and the Sketchy Flowers stamp set and it turned out very colorful. Here is how I did it:

I first painted “rectangles” with a paint brush and watercolors in rainbow colors onto a slimline card base, let that layer dry and then repeatedly added a black flower stamped image on top onto the whole surface.

Next I painted the flower petals in golden tones and when that layer was dry, I added black watercolor droplets on top of the two layers.

For finishing touches I added some blue details with a blue Posca pen around the edges of the flower petals. After that I just added a chipboard sentiment and the card was done. It´s bold and colorful and still not bulky, so it will be relatively easy to mail.

I hope you get inspired to play with your stamps and watercolors to create funky and bold colored cards.
