Here Is My Excuse

for being a bad blogger lately -
THIS has not been happening enough:

Emily is back in preschool. And her classes are smack in
the middle of the younger kids' naptimes. It will take
us a while to adjust our crankiness/overstimulation to
the new routine. Sewing has been relegated to night-time,
after the kids are in bed, which I generally never do,
except just before Christmas.

But back to the photo: look how well-behaved Kate is!
Observe how she is not climbing all over the sewing table!
Or digging in my stash! Or testing out fabric markers
on fabric. Or changing the stitch length on my machine
when I am not looking! Or pressing the backstitch lever!
Or trying to touch all the pointy, dangerous things and
shouting, "Sharp! Sharp!" Or eating polyfill!

What have I been making this week?
Bag
Bag
Bag
Bag

What do I actually want desperately to make
and that has possessed my tortured mind?

Chicken
Chicken
Chicken
Chicken

How do I reconcile the conflict?
Effortlessly make ugly bags. Bah.

  1. Sounds like Johnny and Kate would get along - that's exactly what he does when I try to sew and he has only napped once or twice this entire month.

Kate is so adorable in that picture.

  2. There's really only one thing to do. Make the chicken. The bag will still be there and you'll get the inner peace of working out the chicken and getting it out of your brain. Where your schedule is all out of sorts anyway, a little extra peace of mind is a good thing. Plus, I want to see the chicken. :)

  3. a) I can't imagine an ugly bag emerging from your fingers, even with Kate's help.

    b) what Chris said. I want to see the chicken too!

  4. Oh my that is so funny. I really relate. I haven't gotten nearly enough crafting done and it's a terribly frustrating feeling!

  5. oooh my goodness, that photo is just darling! I could eat him - talk about cuteness.
Thankyou for your lovely comment too - my Mum will enjoy reading it so much when she checks my post later.
    Have a super weekend!

  6. I feel you, LiEr. It's a juggling act, isn't it? Sometimes you just have to let all the balls fall and lie down in the middle of it (like Kate - looks like she has the right idea).
