Bombshells (Brooklyn, #5)

I will admit that I was a little nervous when I started Bombshells after reading the blurb and thinking there might be a possible love triangle. I'm happy to report that it's not like that at all. In fact, I have to hand it to Sarina Bowen for putting a great spin on the reformed manwhore/friends to lovers trope.
Anton was a giant puppy dog and I appreciated all his efforts to stay true to himself and his dreams. He doesn't always make the best decisions, but I felt his heart was always in the right place. He was so lovable and he had such great chemistry with Sylvie. I liked that though they found each other attractive right away, they took time to become friends and get to know each other. The slow burn friends to lovers is always a favorite for me. Plus, the wait was definitely worth it!
Sylvie (and all the Bombshells) were the highlight of the book though. I don't want to spoil anything, but there's a minor point in Sylvie's history that often plays a huge role/is a plot point in many other romances, but I love, love, love how Sarina Bowen made it a non-issue. I also loved the women's team and how they supported each other on and off the ice. I really appreciated how the challenges and prejudices surrounding women's sports (versus men's) was addressed as well. I'm hoping we'll see more novels featuring the Bombshells, and I'm especially intrigued by Charli and the heat I'm feeling between her and Drake ;)
I was fortunate to be able to both read and listen to this one, and I was beyond impressed by Patrick Zeller and Desiree Ketchum's performances. Both handled the accents and different characters easily and I really enjoyed their voices together. Patrick Zeller is a new to me narrator, but he gave such an emotional performance. I loved him as Anton and wow was he "enthusiastic" during those sexy times!;) I definitely recommend the audiobook!

Yess I love the non-issue plot point you mentioned. It is usually made out to be this big situation but I loved how it was handled in this book 💜
