Basically she wakes up, had been drugged and dragged through a space fort and realizes she’s a clone, her world is rocked. Around the same time she meets the hero who is a security officer and takes her under his protection.

This was such a fun one! I’ve been wanting to try this author for a while and when I saw this new release, I decided to jump in! This is a paranormal This was such a fun one! I’ve been wanting to try this author for a while and when I saw this new release, I decided to jump in! This is a paranormal romance (she’s a witch, he’s alpha of a wolf pack), has a marriage pact (with a magically bound twist), childhood best friends turned rivals to lovers, knotting, “it’s always been you”!
The story kicks off with Violet’s 16th birthday, her and her best friend Silas make a pact to marry one another if they’re both single at 30. Right after that, Violet gets whisked away from the home/orphanage she and Silas were living in by her grandmother who came out of seemingly nowhere. Apparently there was a spell cast on Violet that lifted when she turned 16, which is how her family was finally able to find her and take her away. She wasn’t given time to say goodbye to Silas at all so there was definitely some hard feelings/feeling abandoned.
The story then cuts to years later! She’s thriving with her coven and Silas is the newly appointed Alpha of the local shifter pack. And now they realize that pact they made is actually magically bound and has to happen. Only one problem, the Celestial Coven and the Moon Walker Pack have had an ongoing feud for generations and are rivals. Now these former best friends turned sworn enemy have to marry and deal with one another.
I had a great time with this one and loved the setup and the twists and reveals and just seeing how the story played out. Thorin (his wolf) was super enjoyable as well!...more

I’ve read a handful of books from this author and was excited to see what this novella would bring! This is a brother’s best friend romance where James, Duke of Stone, is a matchmaker and tries to find the “right husband” for Lady Jacqueline “Jack”.
The story starts with Jacqueline climbing through the Duke’s window. She’s upset with James that he set up her sister with a vicar, while they’re very happy with their love match, Jack’s family is low on finds and now it means Jack will have to marry for money and position. She’d much rather spend her time with her music and out in nature, not at balls looking for a husband. After spending 4 years abroad with her family and her lessons with the pianoforte in Vienna, Jack is upset to be back in London now on the marriage mart. She sets out to let James have all of her wrath but then he tells her that he will help her find a worthy husband she will be happy with.
Shortly after agreeing to help her, he realizes it’s going to be quite the task since Jack is unlike the other ladies of the ton. First off she climbed a tree into his home to talk to him, shows up in breeches, and demands a husband who will give her freedom to do as she pleases. He very quickly starts to feel desire for Jack, but has to keep reminding himself she is off limits as his best friend’s younger sister. James also is dealing with has things from his past to overcome, which had lead him to put love, marriage, and children off the table for himself. Once they’re caught during their kissing lessons, a marriage of convenience is forced upon Jack and James to save her from ruin.
I thought this was an okay read. I always get pulled in by the premises of this author’s books, but once I’m in the read I do find the writing style and dialogue a bit bland and dry. There is a lot of inner thoughts and telling instead of showing. I did like that they had history, Jack always joined her older brother and James, as they adventured when they were children.

This is the 2nd in a standalone series but it was my first read from this author and I wasn’t lost at all!
Astrid is a widowed, single mom of 2 kids who works at a bakery. And Penn is her late husband’s best friend who is still a part of her and her kids’ lives. Penn and Astrid have a friendship of their own as well and even though it’s 4 years after the loss of her late husband, Astrid still isn’t sure about moving on…especially with Penn, but she’s so pulled towards him.
I loved how he has been pining for her and crushing on her for years. They shared a moment a year after her husband’s loss and he hasn’t stopped thinking about it since, even though she said it was a mistake. They end up keeping their relationship a secret from some of their family and friends because they’re wary of others’ reactions. I really liked this setup and the tropes (a widowed, single parent romance always works for me)!

So when he witnesses Marquess of Halford wagering away his eldest daughter’s hand in marriage one night while playing dice, he steps in to rescue her! The only way to rescue her is to offer for her himself, so that is how Chase finds himself getting married when he swore he never would. Lady Victoria Kirby would much rather spend her time digging through dirt, cataloging antiquities and artifacts she finds from ancient Viking and Saxon burial mounds, than in a London ballroom. She is turning in for the night when Chase shows up at her bedroom door to inform her they are to wed, he lays out everything that went down with her father’s actions and tells her how this marriage of convenience will be the perfect answer for them both.
I did enjoy how Chase and Victoria quickly decide this marriage of convenience can work for them. He is fine with marrying, since he doesn’t think he’ll be tempted to fall in love or produce heirs, and he will grant her all the freedom she wants to continue to do her archaeology thing. I did love Victoria’s love for archaeology and anthropology. Victoria’s “average, plain” looks are brought up a lot…which I don’t mind and can appreciate a heroine who isn’t always a diamond of the first water, but I did feel like for this book it dragged on/was mentioned a few too many times. I did like how Chase & Victoria formed a friendship really early on and that kept on throughout the book, Chase even steps in to help her sister out too. This was a low-angst, low-stakes read (which I personally prefer more angst or emotional reads to pull me in better). It was definitely a bit predictable with Chase’s “secrets” but I kind of didn’t mind it. This was a quick book for when you want a read with little-to-no drama and a friends-first marriage of convenience read.

I grabbed the 1st book in this series after a few friends raved about it and then saw this prequel novella so decided to read it first. Cat is a public school teacher who is on summer vacation, and after her ridiculous chaotic year of work & personal life she’s ready to just kick back and enjoy her summer. Maybe even indulge in a summer fling... She sets her sights on her across-the-hall hot neighbor but each time she tries to get his attention she misses out and keeps finding herself spending time with his roommate/cousin, Quentin, instead. Quentin is the cutest, he works in public transportation for NYC and has a major crush on Cat. He definitely has some insecurities with women just wanting to be friends with him to get to his cousin so he’s a little apprehensive about spending time with Cat at first. I just loved Quentin, he was adorable and so smitten with Cat and I enjoyed seeing their friendship develop into more. I did feel a little protective over Quentin and didn’t come around completely to Cat until the end when I saw she was into him too and not just his cousin. Lol While all we get is smooching in this I didn’t even mind missing out on the rest of the steamy times because I just loved Quentin & Cat’s chemistry, banter and connection so much. The epilogue jumps to 10 years later (!) and has the intro for the hero of the next book/first book in the series and I’m so excited to get to it now.

The only problem is his behind-the-camera persona doesn’t translate well to on-camera filming, so instead she hops in frame to be the skeptic that she is and bounce convos around with him and it actually works really well. So well that she’s asked to co-host with him because their chemistry is electrifying!

The audiobook in particular was a lot of fun and had me pulled in from the start! Very glad I gave this one a go! The cutesy small town, grumpy coffee shop owner, haunted house, and ghost tours! This novella is set in America (Seattle and the Cascade Mountains) in the early 1900s.
Tommy is on his way back to Seattle and gets stuck during a snowstorm in the Cascade Mountains. He’s transporting a stolen book, after six years of thievery, this was “one last” job to do. Stuck in the blizzard, he stops at a seemingly empty cabin he sees to warm up. Around the same time, Imogen shows up at her family’s hunting cabin, looking for some solace and time to herself, when she spies boot prints outside of it and someone who has snuck in. She hasn’t had the best time as of late with her being jilted by her fiancé, receiving a lackluster reception at her first photography exhibition, and dealing with self doubt and artist’s block. And now she has to deal with the intruder to the cabin! When she finds the intruder inside, she realizes it’s her old friend Tommy, they were friends for a few years when his mom worked for her family as a housekeeper. But one day he kind of disappeared on her. Now they’re snowed in together at the cabin!
This one I thought was okay at times. It didn’t really feel like a historical time, the heroine is a bit abrasive at times, and while there are bits happening in the story (a hair dye scene gone bad—oh no purple hair, baking Christmas treats, photography in the nude), it also just kind of felt like there wasn’t a plot or anything really happening. ...more
