About this ebook
Saba Imru-Mathieu
Saba Imru-Mathieu is a prominent leadership coach and coach trainer, CEO of her company, Leaders Today and its education branch Leader Coach Academy, based in Geneva, Switzerland. She's had a rich and eventful life, born into a family of Ethiopian diplomats during the days of the Ethiopian Empire, she lived in many different countries, thriving on immersing herself in a variety of cultures and mindsets. But the wheels of history are unpredictable, and she became a refugee at the age of 17. From her father she learned how to stick to her values and work hard, from her artist mother she got passion and a dash of impulsivity. These are the pillars of her unfailing resilience, which enabled her to overcome difficulties and build a successful life and career. Her professional experience spans different industries, the arts, business, academia and international development as an HR leader in a UN agency, and a consultant in many others. The common thread in all her activities is to help people live more fulfilling lives at work and at home by teaching them a transformational leadership skill, coaching! This skill solves many of the problems we see today at work from stress, to bad relations, shaky performance and ineffective management. She is a facilitator of international events for leadership development and a TEDx speaker. Leading with Coaching - Saba Imru-Mathieu
Introduction
Hello, I’m Saba Imru-Mathieu, and welcome to Leading with Coaching: How to Get Results and Elevate People at Work with Coaching Strategies,
a course from Scribd Coach. Together, we’re going to explore the benefits of coaching and how you can use coaching techniques to improve your work and the work of others around you.
Leaders are faced with a challenge in the modern workplace: We’re expected to produce excellent results while at the same time elevating everyone around us to fulfill their potential. This is the leadership demand of our times. And it can be very difficult to reach these high standards. You may find yourself wondering if it is even possible. This is why there is a growing demand for coaching skills
, which can be life-changing when it comes to workplace development. I am passionate about teaching coaching skills because I know that they can enable anyone to solve problems and overcome challenges in the workplace today. These problems can vary from stress, poor communication, and uncertainty - and they can all be solved through the application of coaching skills. These skills can also help you to grow as an individual while helping you to aid in the development of others. All of this together means a better workplace for everyone.
My clients have transformed their own lives and surrounded themselves with better environments, all thanks to the coaching skills I have given to them. What I taught them has given them the ability to have better communication with colleagues and family members, develop a more positive daily mindset, and find the energy and focus to achieve concrete goals that they have set for themselves. All of this they learned from my coaching program, Leader Coach Academy, which has been adapted to the necessity of our times.
As the founder of Leader Coach Academy, I have spent over fifteen years coaching and training professionals on coaching techniques. I am also the co-founder of Leaders Today, a boutique firm based in Geneva, Switzerland, that provides leadership development, coaching skills training, and organizational culture change services. As I said before, I’m very passionate about teaching coaching skills, and I love sharing my knowledge with others - which is why I’m here today!
This course is divided into five units, each designed to teach you about coaching skills, how to use them, and why. Unit one will be an overview, explaining the different functions of coaching, what coaching is, and the purpose it serves. In unit two, I will go over my 4-Question Coaching model, and run you through how it will benefit you. This is a coaching model that will enable you immediately to have more fruitful conversations with your colleagues or-- why not? --even your family. Our third unit is all about the three main coaching mindsets and how you can use them to support your coaching skills. Coaching isn’t only about doing things, it’s also a world view, a way to approach life, so we’ll look at the three mindsets that support a coaching approach. Unit four is about self-coaching, or how to use coaching to develop yourself and your work. One of
