- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5By: Julie LessmanPublished By: Fleming H. Rovell CompanyAge Recommended: AdultReviewed By: Arlena DeanRating: 5Blog For: GMTASeries: Wings of Change #3Review:A Love Surrendered by Julie Lessman was the conclusion to the series Winds of Change #3. We find that this novel of one of the six O'Connor children, Steven. This novel was definitely one that you will not be able to put down until the end with this one being full of a story of 'love, surrender and trust.' We find that this novel is during a period of Prohibition area and Steven is a prohibition agent..'straight laced guy who is committed to his Irish Catholic family. Now, this story will take off from here with a lots of 'surprising twist' in this story. Then we find Annie Kennedy who is almost eighteen who is seeming has come about to need Steven O'Connor protection in one way or another. There is a big secret than Annie is holding that can break her heart as well as his. Now, what could that be. This is where I say you must pick up the excellent read to find out. The theme of this novel holds to 'staying pure and obeying God in physical realtaions' however, this novel does get very graphic in its descriptions of the struggles the characters do go through. "A Love Surrendered" has a lot of drama and even some humor. I do think picking up the first two books will help some in this reading of the interesting O'Connor's.If you are looking for a read that has it all...romance, drama, history, humor, with very captivating characters you have come to the right place...for "A Love Surrendered" would be recommended to you.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This is going to be a hard review for me to write. No,no, it's not a bad book. It's one of my favorites. It's bittersweet because this is the ending to one of my favorite Christian Fiction series. I fell in love with Ms. Lessman's work when I read book 1 in this series, A Hope Undaunted. Ironically, it's not the first in the O'Connor clans stories...there was a series previously written called The Daughters Of Boston. This particular series is so emotionally moving, so deeply intense that you get to become a part of the story. You can feel yourself being pulled deep into the heart of the story, becoming the characters, feeling every pain, every laugh, and every tear drop that falls. It's absolutely an amazing feeling when reading a Julie Lessman novel. I've been dying to read this book. This one is Steven O'Connor's story. He's the baby boy of the O'Connor family and, while I adored each of the others that I read about, I felt that Steven was the most deserving of having his story told. He was quietly awaiting his turn through out all the other books and it's finally here! And oh what a turn it is! We get a bit of background on Steven in the other books, having a broken relationship with his ex fiance. Now, he's a respectable man of the law and 25 years old. What he's not expecting is for the arrival of Annie, a young impressionable girl of 17.....and his former fiance's baby sister. Or the protectiveness he feels for her. Susannah "Annie" Kennedy has left her home in Iowa to move on from her past and embrace a future in Boston. Her parents are dead now, her sister has raved about Boston and she's ready to embrace a life out side of her straight and narrow past. When an circumstance arises and Annie finds herself face to face with Steven O'Connor, her sisters ex, she's embarrassed.....and highly attracted to him! There's just one little problem with that....he doesn't realize that she's Maggie's baby sister. Watching as these two came to terms with their past, and seeking forgiveness to over come it, and move on to a life filled with love and happiness was absolutely tear jerking! I loved every minute of this amazing 5 Book conclusion to my favorite series. Ms. Lessman kept the intensity woven through out as she did with the previous books. Her messages of forgiveness, letting go and seeking His love are just as strong and sweep through the reader instantly. If you love passion, if you love heartbreaking redemption and amazing historic detail, then look no further than the author who can create an unforgettable, un-put-downable novel that will spin the readers mind out of control. Well done Ms. Lessman and I am anxious to see what you have in story for your fans next...will we get glimpses of the O'Connor's? Will we get to fall in love with another amazing family? Keep up the amazing writing, Ms. Lessman! *A copy of this book was provided for review in exchange for my honest opinion*
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5Annie Kennedy was left orphaned and bitter at a young age. She moved to Boston to live with her aunt, determined to experience all that life has to offer. Using her aunt's last name, she became friendly with the crowd her older sister had left behind, never intending to fall in love with the her sister's ex-fiance'. Steven has spent the intervening time trying to forget her sister; will he be able to move beyond his own past to create a future with Annie?A Love Surrendered is classic Christian romance. It is decent, safe, and people say really sweet, religious things to one another that few say in real life. For example: "...I thank God every hour of every day for the joy of being your wife, Sean." It isn't bad; it's just very, very nice. That being said, there is enough suspense in the plot to keep the reader hooked. Will he find out her secret? If he does, how will he react? Will her new city friends be a bad influence on her? Having started this series with this book, the third in the series, I suggest that if you have not yet read Books 1 and 2, you might want to buy all 3 and begin at the beginning. I know they are now on my TBR list. 4 stars“Available October 2012 at your favorite bookseller from Revell, a division of Baker Publishing Group.” Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Baker Publishing Group.
