About this audiobook

From the author of the New York Times bestseller All the Missing Girls—the gripping story of a journalist who sets out to find her missing friend, a friend who may never have existed at all. “Think: Luckiest Girl Alive, The Girl on the Train, Gone Girl” (TheSkimm).

When Leah Stevens’ career implodes, a chance meeting with her old friend Emmy Grey offers her the perfect opportunity to start over. Emmy, just out of a bad relationship, convinces Leah to come live with her in rural Pennsylvania, where there are teaching positions available and no one knows Leah’s past.

Or Emmy’s.

When the town sees a spate of vicious crimes and Emmy Grey disappears, Leah begins to realize how very little she knows about her friend and roommate. Unable to find friends, family, a paper trail or a digital footprint, the police question whether Emmy Grey existed at all. And mark Leah as a prime suspect.

Fighting the doubts of the police and her own sanity, Leah must uncover the truth about Emmy Grey—and along the way, confront her old demons, find out who she can really trust, and clear her own name.

Megan Miranda delivers a deep, dark and twisty novel just as thrilling as her New York Times bestseller All the Missing Girls.

It was a great easy read. The ending wasn’t exactly a huge twist but enjoyable nonetheless.

I really liked this! At first I was not sure I would because there are some similarities to Fight Club but I knew it would take getting to the end to see for sure if I loved it or was unimpressed. Very well written, all of the ends might not have tied up in the end but the author does it in such a way that it's believable and not a stretch. There were a few things that could have been fleshed out a bit more but she left them to the reader. I will definitely be reading/listening to more from this author.

Probably more like a very jaded 3.5 star.

I think had I read this right after something like Romanceathon I would have loved it. However a pretty good mystery after a few really great thrillers wasn’t to its benefit.

However, I loved the characters and the plot. I would recommend it and I will continue reading her writing.

Don’t start this until you have time to finish! Tensions are high throughout and characters that keep you guessing. One of the better mysteries I’ve read in the year.

This book is so incredibly slow. It took me forever to really just want to listen. I usually finish a book within a day or two. Not this one. It took weeks. Not great.

3.5 stars. Maybe the storylines in Megan Miranda's books aren't very exciting or unique , but her storytelling keeps you sucked in until the very end .

Drags on quite a bit. The main character rambles through and a lot of it seems like filler. I also got annoyed with how easily the police give her information about an open investigation and how her and Kyle had a ridiculous back and forth. It seemed like almost the same conversation every time they interacted. I love usually this author, but this is a definite pass for me.
