Makalah ini berisi tentang bagaimana teknologi augmented reality digunakan dalam teknologi baru interaksi computer. Dengan perubahan dalam bidang interaksi itu akan meningkatkan pengalaman pengguna saat mengoperasikan aplikasi. Augmented reality adalah realitas tambahan yang digunakan untuk berbaur atau menggabungkan benda di dunia maya dengan lingkungan RealWorld. Menjelaskan berbagai komponen pendukung yang digunakan, baik dari perangkat keras maupun perangkat lunak. Dengan menggunakan teknologi ini diharapkan partisipasi pengguna dalam berinteraksi dengan aplikasi yang ada. berbagai bidang seperti militer, kesehatan, pendidikan dan bidang-bidang ilmu terapan yang telah dilaksanakan sebagai bagian dari teknologi augmented reality dalam lingkungannya. Menggunakan teknologi augmented reality diharapkan pengguna aplikasi akan merasakan proses interaksi langsung.

Somos uma comunidade jovem, multidisciplinar, criativa, aberta a idéias e desafios, a qual atrai e acolhe novos talentos, sejam eles estudantes ou profissionais migrando de outras áreas. Foi pensando nesses novos e bem-vindos participantes do SVR que criamos o Pré-Simpósio (PS), apresentado pela primeira vez em São Paulo junto ao SVR 2004. O sucesso da iniciativa fez com que a Comissão Especial de Realidade Virtual da SBC, responsável pela organização e promoção do SVR, incluísse de forma definitiva o PS na programação de atividades do evento. O principal objetivo do Pré-Simpósio é oferecer um curso rápido e abrangente sobre os principais conceitos e tecnologias das áreas de RV e RA, de tal forma a estabelecer um repertório básico que ajude o participante a melhor aproveitar tudo o que será exibido e discutido ao longo dos três dias de atividades principais do SVR. Criado, desenvolvido e apresentado por professores e pesquisadores seniores da comunidade de RV e RA, o Pré-Simpósio oferece aos participantes, além das 8 horas-aula, material complementar na forma de um texto abrangente que cobre os principais conceitos e tecnologias da área, cujo conteúdo vai muito além do que é apresentado ao vivo. No SVR 2004, o PS deu origem ao livro "Realidade Virtual: Conceitos e Tecnologia". Esse livro, já esgotado, tem sido usado como referência em cursos técnicos e superiores, não só da área de computação e informática, mas também de design, comunicação e artes. Após um processo de reestruturação e revisão da publicação do Pré-Simpósio do SVR 2004, bem como a ampliação e criação de novos capítulos, foi publicado, no SVR 2006, o livro denominado "Fundamentos e Tecnologia de Realidade Virtual e Aumentada". Esse livro foi fruto do trabalho colaborativo de representantes de uma comunidade jovem e atuante, que está crescendo em número e qualidade, podendo ser constatado em cada nova edição do Symposium on Virtual and Augmented Reality (SVR). Com o intuito de continuar a democratização e a disseminação do conhecimento sobre RV e RA, o PS do SVR 2007, lança este livro denominado "Realidade Virtual e Aumentada: Conceitos, Projeto e Aplicações" contribuindo para a expansão desta comunidade. É assim, com grande prazer, que apresentamos o resultado do trabalho de 34 autores da comunidade brasileira de RV, que não mediram esforços para produzir este texto didático e de qualidade, e aos quais muito agradecemos.

Recently, some simulation systems of the building using Augmented Rarity (AR) have been proposed. In these systems, these are separated by interior simulation systems and exterior simulation systems, and two systems are independent respectively. Therefore, in performing the synthetic simulation of the buildings, the unification of two systems is required. In this paper, to satisfy a demand, we propose a system which seamlessly transfer between interior and exterior by expanding and shrinking AR object of the building. Thereby, we attempt to construct the intuitive and seamless synthetic system of the interior and exterior in a building. By the proposed system, we expect that we can intuitively and seamless simulate the synthetic simulation system of the building comparing with conventional simulation systems.

We created an augmented reality platform for spatial exploration that recognizes buildings facades and displays various multimedia for different time points. In order to provide the user with the best user experience fast recognition and stable tracking are the key elements of any augmented reality app. In an outdoor environment, lighting, reflective surfaces and occlusion can drastically affect the user experience. In a setup where these conditions are similar, marker creation methodology and the app parameters are key. In this paper we focus on resizing the photo prior marker creating and the importance of camera calibration and resolution and their effect on the recognition speed and quality of tracking outdoor objects.

Although the use of Augmented Reality (AR) in many types of applications for training, education and other areas is well known many institutions that offer courses in Information Technology, Computer Science or others in the same field still do not have significant classes exploring the potential of AR. This work proposes and describes the partial implementation of  an introductory class on AR using its features, i.e.,  superimposed text and 3-D objects over the real world scene, fiducial marker tracking and user interaction to demonstrate concepts and practical issues found in AR system development. Therefore, turning the learning experience much more effective than a theoretical based regular class. The software also enables teachers to introduce AR to theirs students without the need of much expertise or time spending preparing the lesson.

Septic tanks, sewage effluents, and landfills can release microbial pathogens into groundwater. This problem is amplified in the so-called colonias along the U.S.-Mexico border and other low-income areas around the world that have no public sewage systems. The result is often outbreaks of groundwater-associated disease for which enteric viruses and bacteria, spread via a fecal-oral route, are responsible. However, due to difficulties and limitations in detection and surveillance of disease outbreaks, the causative agents for more than 50% of the outbreaks are unknown, though the clinical features suggest a viral etiology for most of those cases [U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1993]. Enteric pathogens such as E coli 0157:H7, Campylobacter, Enteroviruses, Hepatitis A virus, and caliciviruses have been responsible for groundwater-related microbial infections in humans. Inexpensive solutions to this problem are urgently needed. The recent threat of bio-terrorism and concerns about the safety of drinking water supplies further add to that urgency.

Measuring how difficult access is for people is important in order to achieve inclusive access for all. One practical and effective way of measuring difficulty in people's access is to track how they move around in a given environment. However, systems for tracking people are often costly and complicated to use. This article concerns the development and application of a low cost computer vision-based tracking system called MoRe-T2 (mobility research trajectory tracker). MoRe-T2 can be used to quickly characterize the trajectories people make under different conditions (e.g. when using a wheelchair, exiting through a train's sliding doors, approaching a ramp or moving through crowded environments). A MoRe-T2 system uses video cameras such as a webcam to track the pose of QR-code-like markers. MoRe-T2 markers enable orientation as an extra level of tracking information and they uniquely identify many participants. Both of these features of a marker are unavailable in markers of more standard techniques for video tracking like 'blob' detection (i.e. simply tracking a blob of a certain colour for example). These markers can be simply printed onto paper and can then be attached to people or assistive technologies, such as a wheelchair and a scooter. The MoRe-T2 cameras are time-synchronized and are mounted so that at any given time every marker in the experiment area is visible to at least one camera. In a simple process, the cameras' positions can be sufficiently estimated automatically using a single marker. Videos of the scene are recorded and afterwards, the recorded videos are processed with the cameras' estimated position using software called ARToolkitPlus library. This software calculates the position and orientation of markers with respect to the cameras. The end result is a detailed map describing the time-locked trajectories plotted on a 3D time independent plane.

Augmented Reality systems have recently become widely used. This is due to the new open source libraries that have emerged for fast application development. In this paper we address one of the most relevant problems in this type of systems, oscillation in the camera pose estimates. We study the oscillation of a system developed using the ARToolkit library. We apply both average and Kalman filters to stabilize the estimates. Using filter substantially reduces oscillation, thus improving the system's usability.
