GENESIS HYPERTEXT PROJECT

This project is an attempt to share a web of conjectures about Genesis. The leading theme is not to take for granted that the sparse references to history and geography found in the text should be all interpreted within a Semitic background. Some paths for a future and more punctual research are provided, but a network of correlations is already functional and open to falsification. The basic conviction is that the beginnings of humanity according to the Biblical mythology should be tested in ancient Anatolia, because, at the moment, only there the narrative of a failed attempt for a Woman-Mother-of-all-living finds a body of evidence to support it. Toponyms, anthroponyms, ethnonyms and theonyms are "painstakingly" checked against the available information coming from Hittite and Luwian sources. From the strictly historical point of view, the Sitz im Leben that is tentatively proposed corresponds to a period between 539 and 525 B.C., when most of the explored tracks fall into a coherent ideological picture. Only within the irenic and universalistic frame of mind imposed by the advent of the Achaemenid empire, a school of Hebrew scribes could develop such an "eutopia", where most of the militaristic drives flaring everywhere in the Bible seem to be suspended in the "Abrahamic travels".
