A new technique to produce ultra-fine grained tubular specimen has been proposed, and the experiments have been performed using equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) with an angle of 90°between two intersecting channels and also the use of rubber pad as a mandrel during process. Commercial purity copper tubes have been pressed up to three passes through four different fundamental routes (A, B A , B C , and C) directions of which are identified in the text below. The influence of each route on the value, distribution, and homogeneity of hardness has been investigated by applying Vickers micro-hardness measurements at various locations of the tube's transverse planes. Significant enhancement of the hardness is observed after the first pass ECAP. Also, routes C and B C show, respectively, better average hardness magnitude and hardness distribution uniformity. In addition, the results indicate that there is about 50% and 62% reduction of the grain size, compared to the annealed condition, following ECAP process of the copper tube sample after the first and the third pass via route B C .

A new technique to equal channel angular pressing of tubular samples has been proposed and investigated through experiments and simulations. Deformation behavior of copper tube sample was numerically analyzed during the first pass of tubular ECAP process. The investigation included the effect of various tube wall thicknesses on the effective strain magnitude and strain distribution uniformity. It is shown that tube wall thickness of 3.5 mm gives the optimum value for strain behavior. In addition, copper tube specimens with 3.5 mm wall thickness have been successfully ECAPed up to four passes with the die channel angle of 90 • using flexible polyurethane rubber pad. Micro-hardness measurements on both annealed and ECAPed tubes show that 33% and 57% increases in hardness value and also, 50% and 70% reductions in the grain size were achieved after the first and fourth passes respectively. Furthermore, tube wall thickness measurements show that the process does not change the dimension of deformed specimens.

The Equal Channel Angular Pressing is a hardening treatment with which ductile metals can be processed to refine their grain and sub-grain structure. This process enhances the mechanical strength of metals in terms of tensile strength, stress-controlled fatigue strength, and fatigue crack growth resistance. In this paper the authors draw a review of the major results of a wide research activity they carried out on a copper microstructure processed by Equal Channel Angular Pressing. The essential results are that tensile and fatigue strengths of the so obtained refined structure are improved by a factor of two with respect to the original coarse-grained metal. The fatigue crack initiation mechanism and the stability of the refined microstructure under cyclic loading are topics also discussed, evidencing the essential role of the process and of the material parameter, as the content of impurities in the microstructure. In this review, the authors also underline some critical aspects that have to be more investigated.

Copper is one of the most important materials used for electrical connectors with a high thermal and electricial conductivity, and there is an ongoing demand to improve its mechanical properties without sacrificing other beneficial properties. A possible approach to achieving this aim is to use the method of severe plastic deformation to obtain an ultrafine grained microstructure. Significant grain refinement obtained by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) leads to an improvement of mechanical, microstructural and physical properties. This paper gives an overview of a range of the properties that can be achieved by ECAP processing of pure copper including microstructural features, thermal stability, thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance. The equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) technique is now recognised for achieving very significant grain refinement of ultra-fine grained materials which, at present produce unique mechanical properties. This study reports the results of the tensile tests and the microstructural analysis carried out on the specimens of ultra-fine grained (UFG) copper processed by ECAP technique at room temperature using a die with a 126o between the die channels. The copper samples used in this work were subjected to six and twelve passes during the ECAP processing. Tensile tests were conducted for samples cut out in two different directions; in the parallel and perpendicular direction at room temperature to evaluate the mechanical properties after the ECAP at these two directions. The microstructural characterization was carried out using optical electron microscope (OEM) and scanning electronic microscope (SEM). The results show ECAP technique introducing significant grain refinement and produce...

Mechanical properties of two Cu alloys (electrolytic and fire refined) severely deformed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) process were investigated. They were treated with a annealing heat treatment to 600ºC during 30 minutes and then they were extruded in a Φ=90º ECAP die at room temperature following route Bc. Heavy deformation was introduced in the samples after a considerable number of ECAP passes from 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, to 16. The principal changes were introduced in the first pass by ECAP but a gradual increment in the mechanical properties was observed for the consecutive ECAP passes. Also, the electrical conductivity decreased with increasing numbers of ECAP passes.

The evolution of crystallographic texture and the mechanical properties of copper subjected to severe plastic deformation (SPD) using equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) were investigated. Samples were subjected to ECAP under two different processing routes: B 60 and B C. As the cross sections of the samples were circular, a new route with a rotation angle of 60°in the same direction between consecutive passes was introduced. The material exhibited texture development similar to the simple shear texture in both routes and the most significant changes in texture strength in both processing routes took place after the second pass. Microstructure of ECAP processed samples were investigated using electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) analysis. Comparison of the EBSD data with optical micrograph of the initial sample confirmed that ECAP process has led to a significant decrease in grain size. Significant increases in hardness and tensile strength were observed after the first pass of ECAP. Variations of tensile strength as a function of the number of passes were related to the dislocation densities and the average boundary spacing.

modest length. It also presents both an academic and a practical perspective on its subject matter, thus providing an enriching piece of scholarly work of relatively advanced quality. Despite this range of perspectives, the book is thematically coherent. It is a unique innovation in financial markets and financial crime literature, providing an inquiry into the global financial crisis from a distinctive criminal law perspective and, at the same time, bringing some fresh analyses generally, on the current state of the law and practice in this field. Importantly, it also raises a few pertinent unanswered questions, which provide a clear roadmap for further inquiry. For instance, what is the rationale, legal or otherwise, for mandating solicitors to do police work for the state by undertaking the onerous and conflict-prone reporting responsibilities under the UK's Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and the Money Laundering Regulations 2007? Is the time not now ripe to chart an alternative regulatory path for the financial industry, which requires the establishment of an industryspecific police force composed of the same financial industry players, in the same way that military police exist for the members of the armed forces? Unlike existing conventional law enforcement units, like the UK's National Crime Agency, such a body might be made up of industry participants who know the ins and outs of the industry, and are in a position to easily identify when an offence or an attempted offence has been committed.
