Por lo tanto, puede ser descrito como un proceso de optimización de procesos.

One difficulty of texture analysis in the past was the lack of adequate tools to characterize different scales of textures effectively. Recent developments in multiresolution analysis such as the Gabor and wavelet transforms help to overcome this difficulty. In this research, we propose a multiresolution approach based on a modified wavelet transform called the tree-structured wavelet transform or wavelet packets for texture analysis and classification. The development of this new transform is motivated by the observation that a large class of natural textures can be modeled as quasi-periodic signals whose dominant frequencies are located in the middle frequency channels. With the transform, we are able to zoom into any desired frequency channels for further decomposition. In contrast, the conventional pyramidstructured wavelet transform performs further decomposition only in low frequency channels. We develop a progressive texture classification algorithm which is not only computationally attractive but also has excellent performance. The performance of our new method is compared with that of several other methods using the DCT, DST, DHT, pyramid-structured wavelet transforms, Gabor filters, and Laws filters.

Evaluation of English language knowledge without consideration of pragmatic use lures ‘the poor' to Western academia. Thus, not addressing their own issues, this results in an unhelpful brain drain and magnet. Wholistic evaluation would, by undoing this lure, enable educational focus on indigenous concerns in Africa. The secularisation-project, that demotes other people's ways of life into ‘world religions' status, and ignores impacts of Christianity on world history, is subjected to critical scrutiny.

The article deals with the report of Franciscan Simon Fitzsimmons who, accompanied by friar Hugh Illuminator, undertook a pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 1323. In his report, Simon dedicated due attention to the cities and lands on the eastern Adriatic coast that he went through. Although this source is not unknown in Serbian historiography, it seems to have remained on the margins of research. The paper presents the only preserved manuscript of this source, its critical editions, and sheds light on the personality of the author and contents of the manuscript. A part of the text, dealing with Simon's and Hugh's voyage from Venice to Durazzo in the second half of August 1323, is given in Serbian translation, with critical commentaries.
