New Spectrum Noir Aquablend Pencils on Create and Craft today!

Hi all

Have you been watching the fabulous Sheena Douglas on Create and Craft today?

She has been demonstrating the fabulous new Spectrum Noir Aquablend Pencils from Crafter'sCompanion - they are absolutely fabulous.  I was lucky enough to get to play with them to make DT samples for the TV show, I have to say they blend like a dream - they're definitely my new favourite!

Here are a couple of samples I made for the show with some of the lovely stamps from Sheen Douglass' A little bit Sketchy range - I even got a name check from Jackie Jacobs on the 1pm show when she highlighted the first card- fame at last!!

All Fridays should be clean and simple!

Good morning all

It's challenge day again over at Winter Wonderland

and our host this week is the very talented Lesley

who has cosen the theme

Clean and Simple

I have to say I used to struggle with CAS cards
 - never really knowing when to stop when it comes to layout and embellishments
but now I actually love the CAS style - it's all about the image really
and if you keep to that you can't go wrong

Because it is so simple this card was really quick and easy to make.  The image is Lovely Lavender from LOTV - another one which seems to have been discontinued - they seem to have has a right old clear out over there!!-  I stamped onto watercolour card with Ranger archival ink in watering can, then coloured it with my Spectrum Aqua pens - also really quick and easy to colour with.

I made the card with kraft card then made a quick frame with the square pierced noble dies from Creative Expressions (Sue Wilson) with the same kraft card that I simply mounted over the top of the image with glue gel - not even a distress ink in sight - I was very strict with myself lol.   After that its just a tag cut with a sizzix die  and a piece of raffia for a bow (I think I actually rescued it from a bunch of flowers a while back) - a  clean and simple card for any occasion with a bit of shabby chic going on!

Here are the colours for the Crafter's Companion Spectrum Aqua  pens I used
pot - terracotta and slate - yellow, purple, wildflower and moss for the pattern
flowers - purple, wildflower and orchid, leaves leaf green and moss
shading - slate

Hope you'll come and join in with us this week we have two great sponsors

Crafty Sentiments - offering a prize of 2 digi stamps

and The Craft Barn - with a prize of a £10 voucher

Come party with us at Wags'n'Whiskers

Good morning all

Well it's been a sad day in the craftroom today : (
my trust Sizzix Bigshot Express finally gave up
after over 7 years of faithful service - the motor just got weaker and weaker
and he just couldn't emboss anymore, and dies were spending more time stuck in the plates than cutting!!

So I nipped out to Hobbycraft today and got a Big Shot Plus
- they had a great offer on and it was a matter of absolutely can't do without!!
It's just great to be able to craft without the bother again! -It's so sturdy and cuts and embosses really well - I realise how my poor Bigshot Express was struggling when I see what this does

I was hoping to hold out for the new Crafters Companion Gemini which is due out in a few weeks - it's an electronic machine and looked great when I saw it demonstrated a couple of weeks ago.
My birthday's coming up very soon so I may neeeed to still have one - I've always had both a manual and electronic die cutting machine (but after my last Grand Calibur literally broke up into pieces inside - the second one I've had do this I called it a day - no more of these plastic machines for me.  And as a manual machine compared to the Big Shot Grand Calibur is just no contest.
So it's happy dance day for me - new machine up and running : ))))

But back to today's card

The new challenge is up and running at

and the theme is

Let's Party
(we want to see birthday creations)

I made this card with the cute

Buddy's Balloon _ available here
- he's just too cute!!

I used to make a lot of easel cards at one time - probably my favourite shape
but it seems to have been a while since I made one - and I sooo needed to use that lovely new
Happy Birthday die that I just got from Sue Wilson at Creative Expressions!!

This is what I did.....

All creatures great and small at Fab'n'funky Challenges

Good Morning all

Hope you are all bright and breezy this morning - not sure if I am or not but it's a good description of the weather! - it's been more than a bit fresh here on the North East coast - roll on summer!

I've been having an exciting couple of days (that's apart from the sickness bug - yuk!)
My older son left home over a year ago now and I've finally inherited his room as a craftroom.  I moved into the room to craft a while ago because he already had a lovely desk area - but the rest needed to be sorted!!  We moved the bed out at Christmas and swapped it with a sofa bed we had in the spare bedroom and I've now got a lovely craftroom with lots of storage - and a very clever work area built over the sofa bed!  - it's not finished yet still some shelves to put up and lots of sorting and organising to do - but I'm so excited. I do have a very clever husband - photos to follow!!

But I digress....

We have a new challenge starting at

Fab'n'Funky Challenges

hosted by our lovely Sharon

who chose the theme

All creatures great and small

I made a very simple card for a man friend's birthday

using one of the Tim Holtz - Crazy Birds
I just love these - a stamp for all occasions!
