Norwegian food.

Today I had an interesting chat with one of the guys promoting and selling sea products outside a local shop. Products from a small company at Lista ( south Norway.) They were heading north towards the Stavanger area. He told me that they wanted to buy more cars and expand the sale even out of Norway.

I heard about the idea... from farm to fork, www.detnorskemaltid.no  and yes; it is based in Stavanger and have been doing so since 2008.

Good luck!
Nice to meet some enthusiasts!

100 UGÅ

"100 UGÅ" has become like an annual event in Sandnes.

It is one week where restaurants serve dinners for 100 Norwegian Kroner.

This is "Hønsefrikasse" / "Chicken fricassee", traditional Norwegian food.
It tasted good.
From the restaurant named GamlaVærket.

Lord and Lady Scott.

Lord and Lady Scott have popped over from London this weekend.
Here they are photographed at "Kremmerhuset"eating a cake decorated for our National Day next week.

They have been doing touristy activities from eating fishcakes from the fish market, to visiting the monuments "The Three Swords".

Food at KOKKO.

The couple who owns KOKKO also have a coffee brewery above the cafe.
I agree with those who nominated and voted the place to be the best coffee place in Stavanger!
It was very good, and so was the food.
I'll be back.
If you click on their fb.page you can find out more about the place and some of the events.

The food festival finished last night.

The food festival (GLADMAT) is over for this year.
It has been a popular festival for lots of people.
Here you can see just a bit of the constant flow of people walking along the harbour area during the festival. It was difficult to find a table yesterday, but we managed at the end, and also had a few drinks at different places.

GLADMAT in Fargegaten.

This year the food festival "GLADMAT" extended to different places around in town.
The colourful street "FARGEGATEN" had lots of places for food and drinks.

Festival visitors.

More visitors at the food festival.
They had found a nice place on the side of the harbour, not far away from the concert house, and were enjoying the food, drinks, and happy atmosphere.

The food festival are reckoning that there will be around 250.000 visitors.
Perhaps even more now, since the weather is so good:)

GLADMAT / FOOD FESTIVAL 2016

The annual food festival (GLADMAT) is on now, and so far, has had sunshine and really nice summer temperatures.
Walking around looking for something to put out here. I guess what I thought most represented the festival, was not so much the few new things, but mainly all of the happy people who enjoyed the event with friends or family. For some it is a tradition to meet up, have something nice to eat and drink, and just relax in town.

These four Ladies where just doing that!
Having a good time!
"You know, we are all 85 years old" one of them told me.
GREAT LADIES
Happy summer to all of you!!!!

On the blog (www.stavangerdailyphoto.com) you can find more images from the event the last 7-8 years.

Fish cakes.

A warm fishcake is easy to recommend.
Try one or two from the fish market at the harbour at Vågen.

Lunch at Bølgen & Moi.

It was lunch time, and my friend and I both wanted to go for the same dish,
fish & chips at Bølgen & Moi.

The food was very good, apart from too much salt on the chips for our liking.

The waiter SIDNEY, who is half English and half Norwegian did a very good job, and also told us that he wanted to go to England, and hoped to get a job at one of Gordon Ramsey 's restaurants to learn even more about food and wine.

We hope you will get the chance, SIDNEY!!

Anyway, if you ever see a furry "fox" in Stavanger, it might be Sidney who is involved in "Fairy Fandom".... He showed us the picture of him as a fox, and when I came back home I had to google fairyfandom..... so now I know, and I have learned something new.

Never to old to learn:)

TEA IN THE SKY ....

What a nice thing to do on a Saturday afternoon!

Afternoon Tea up on the top floor at the new CLARION HOTEL AIR.
We loved it, - also including the scones and the glass of Champagne!
Excellent service by Natalia & the people working on the 10th. floor.
And the view from the tallest building in Sola was just fantastic!

Plenty of D-vitamins.

Foods high in vitamin D.
That is what many of us need here in Norway, so SALMON for dinner is one of my favourite dishes.
