Another Snippets Card

Hello Snippets Playmates!

This is the second week of my Guest Designer gig in the Snippets Playground and there has been plenty of coffee drinking going on up in the Treehouse coffee bar (coffee bar by day, cocktail bar by night!). Darnell's "tipplings" have gone down well at the evening homework sessions too!

Not everyone was happy about the decaf, so Lesley G spiced things up by bringing along some full-strength caffeinated coffee! This led to Carol L seeing someone swinging from one of the treehouse vines (it was probably either Darnell after one too many tipplings, or Lesley G after all that caffeine!).

A couple of you are 'dyed in the wool' tea drinkers, so we had a teapot on the go too. Poor Jennifer had a note from her mum to inform us she is ALLERGIC to coffee . . . so a big hot chocolate with all the trimmings was the order of the day. I think I saw Vicky sneaking some Bailey's into Jennifer's mug as well (bet THAT was tasty!).

With the very high winds of the recent storms, Linby nearly came a cropper when she was almost blown off course while attempting to catapult herself into the treehouse from the seesaw as usual. Luckily for Linby (and all us other playmates), one of the storms blew a large trampoline from someone's garden into the Playground, so (naturally) we removed all the safety netting (because who needs that??????) and I think it could be a new way for Linby, and anyone else having difficulty with the rope ladder, to get into the treehouse.  If you are new to the Snippets Playground - please take all of this with a very large pinch of salt!

Oh, did you come here to see my card instead of hearing about the Snippets Playground? Well then, here it is:

A6 card.

Close-up of the sentiment to show the sparkle!

  • The cute House Mouse image was stamped onto a snippet of 300gsm white card using grey Archival ink, then coloured using watercolour pencils and a waterbrush.
  • The image was then die-cut using Heffy Doodle Stitched Rectangles.
  • Next, I die-cut a snippet of Island Indigo card with a Spellbinders "wonky rectangle" die and placed it behind the focal image. I really liked how the curved shape stuck out either side!
  • The sentiment was die-cut twice from small snippets and I added some clear sparkle with a Gelly roll pen (see second picture).

  1. Wow - you changed your blog template Sarn! LOVE the new look - very dramatic. I could see a lot of the mischief this past week. We could have have a rectangular heavy teak coloured wooden garden table for six or eight people for the Playground. Found on a local lane, complete with its protective cover tied on. The last I knew it was still languishing there on its back on the pavement - wouldn't you notice something the size of that missing? I adore your snippets card too - so clever using the two die cut panels layered as you did - and of course, House Mouse always ticks all the boxes for me! A lovely card!

    Hugs

  2. Should have said 'could have had'. And that mahoosive table took off in the high winds during the back to back storms and flew over one or more six foot high fences to end up in the lane! x

  9. Dudley and I have just been on quite an adventure. We tied rope to the sad abandoned garden table and between us dragged it back here to the Playground, the cover was on the top of it when it flew and then flipped over so it was easier to slide. I was NOT amused though when Dudley hopped on board for a free ride and barked 'Mush' at me! I shouted 'Gerroff!' and threatened him with re-homing - he just wiggled his bum at me. The mahoosive table now sits in the Playground, along with the broken off leg - awaiting your attention with a screwdriver. You can perhaps also provide your own coffee - seeing as I saw a rather fancy coffee machine being installed in the tree house yesterday. I have my spies! Mister W-B will snitch for treats! With love and gritted teeth, Miss Di - still in overall charge of the total madhouse called the Playground! I think? xx

    1. GREAT!!!! Thanks to yours & Mr W-B’s efforts, once I fix the table leg, we’ll be able to sit outside and scoff our packed lunches in the summer! Or, if we move it near the bike sheds, I can set out contraband from my satchel on it!!!

Dammit, I didn’t think you’d noticed the shiny new coffee machine or the bar optics being installed! Xx

  15. Oh my goodness how cute! I'm less keen on the real thing as mice have been eating my dried flower collection (stored to be made into things) but here they are very cute. Lovely colouring and framing. It's all been going on without me. I'd better get my snippets out. x
