Another Snippets Card

Hello Snippets Playmates!

This is the second week of my Guest Designer gig in the Snippets Playground and there has been plenty of coffee drinking going on up in the Treehouse coffee bar (coffee bar by day, cocktail bar by night!). Darnell's "tipplings" have gone down well at the evening homework sessions too!

Not everyone was happy about the decaf, so Lesley G spiced things up by bringing along some full-strength caffeinated coffee! This led to Carol L seeing someone swinging from one of the treehouse vines (it was probably either Darnell after one too many tipplings, or Lesley G after all that caffeine!).

A couple of you are 'dyed in the wool' tea drinkers, so we had a teapot on the go too. Poor Jennifer had a note from her mum to inform us she is ALLERGIC to coffee . . . so a big hot chocolate with all the trimmings was the order of the day. I think I saw Vicky sneaking some Bailey's into Jennifer's mug as well (bet THAT was tasty!).

With the very high winds of the recent storms, Linby nearly came a cropper when she was almost blown off course while attempting to catapult herself into the treehouse from the seesaw as usual. Luckily for Linby (and all us other playmates), one of the storms blew a large trampoline from someone's garden into the Playground, so (naturally) we removed all the safety netting (because who needs that??????) and I think it could be a new way for Linby, and anyone else having difficulty with the rope ladder, to get into the treehouse.  If you are new to the Snippets Playground - please take all of this with a very large pinch of salt!

Oh, did you come here to see my card instead of hearing about the Snippets Playground? Well then, here it is:

A6 card.

Close-up of the sentiment to show the sparkle!

  • The cute House Mouse image was stamped onto a snippet of 300gsm white card using grey Archival ink, then coloured using watercolour pencils and a waterbrush.
  • The image was then die-cut using Heffy Doodle Stitched Rectangles.
  • Next, I die-cut a snippet of Island Indigo card with a Spellbinders "wonky rectangle" die and placed it behind the focal image. I really liked how the curved shape stuck out either side!
  • The sentiment was die-cut twice from small snippets and I added some clear sparkle with a Gelly roll pen (see second picture).

Snippets Playground Challenge 422

Hi there Playmates!

Today, I'm honoured to be Miss Di's Guest Designer over at the Snippets Playground where you'll find me messing about in the Treehouse as usual.

Had to temporarily close the Playground Treehouse due to Storm Eunice! However, it's now been deemed safe to use again, so just climb the rope ladder (or catapult yourself through the Treehouse window from the seesaw like Linby does)! Everyone is welcome, so come and relax in the comfy chairs, have a natter and share a coffee. It's decaffeinated as I can't be responsible for you lot running around like loons and causing too much havoc! There's bound to be a few biscuits or a slice of cake knocking about too! You can always bribe Playground Pup Dudley with titbits, to keep him quiet!

3.5" x 5" card made completely from snippets.

To make this card:

I took a longer snippet of white card measuring 3.5" x 10", which I scored and folded at the 5" mark to finish up with a 3.5" x 5" card base.

I brushed brown ink through the Funky Fossil 'Caffeine Buzz' stencil then stamped the coffee cup (magazine cover gift) direct to the card front and used a little stamp from IndigoBlu's 'Be Different' set to ground the cup.

I stamped the coffee cup twice more onto white snippets and fussy cut them out. They were layered and stuck to the card front with foam pads. The mag cover gift included a die for the lid, so I die-cut one and stuck it on with foam pads. Finally, I glued a little heart to the cup front and called it done!

I will be round to visit you if you entered via a blog. Sorry, but I am unable to leave you a comment if you enter through any other form of social media.

If you've made a card using snippets (scraps) then why not pop along to the SNIPPETS PLAYGROUND - where the sun always shines. It's a friendly challenge and the rules aren't difficult to follow. This challenge will end at 11am on Saturday, 5th March and there are TWO chances to win a lovely Tattered Lace die.

Allsorts Challenge - Week 663

Hello and welcome!

It's 8 o'clock on a Saturday morning, which means there's a new ALLSORTS CHALLENGE waiting for you to play along with.

This week, my lovely teamie Ellie has chosen the theme of CAS (Clean And Simple) WITH AN OPTIONAL THEME OF ELEGANCE.

Here's my DT card:

To make this card: I used just one stamp and one stencil (plus inks and pencils to colour with!)

I started by stamping the elegant lady image direct to the card front, then masked her. Next, I laid the Funky Fossil 'Brushed Roses' stencil over the top and brushed pink ink through it. After removing the mask, I used a water brush together with ink pads and a few pencils to colour the image (making sure to ground her!).

The materials I used for the card.

Allsorts Challenge - Week 662

Hello and welcome!

It's 8 o'clock on a Saturday morning, which means there's a new ALLSORTS CHALLENGE waiting for you to play along with.

This week, my teamie Wendy has chosen the theme of ANYTHING GOES - WITH THE OPTION OF RED FLOWERS.

As you can see from my DT card (below) I went with the added option!

To make this card: I stamped the grunge stamp (possibly from a Creative Expressions stamp set) across the top third of the card front. Next I stamped, coloured and fussy-cut the Tim Holtz poppy, shaped it and glued it on. Finally I added a long-retired poignant sentiment by Stampin Up.
