Cupid Hit Me! ♥

Wow, could I sound any cheesier with that title? Haha...
This post is going to be a little different but I hope it's something you enjoy.

I don't usually celebrate Valentine's Day but I've been really inspired by other bloggers lately so I decided to paint my nails with my own take on the holiday and also share with you all a DIY gift.

Now, before I get any further into the post I would like to explain why I don't celebrate the holiday.
I really do value the love and friendship that I share with the special people in my life, however I don't like that people exchange gifts because they feel that they "have to"...I prefer getting something any other day of the year because someone saw something and thought of me and decided to get it. (Yes, I like gifts. (: )--I'm starting to feel the same way about Christmas, but we won't get into that lol.

With that being said, I bought a few nail tools from Ebay because I would really like to start jazzing up my nails and this is what I came up with:

They still had some extra polish because I wasn't done cleaning them up yet. Don't judge me. :o/ I kid...
It was the first time I seriously attempted doing a little something extra on my nails.
The process was very simple:
(I didn't use a base coat because I didn't have one.)
I painted two coats of American Apparel's Cotton.
Then with three different sized dotters, I layered on Rimmel London's Black Satin and OPI's Color So Hot It Berns.
Since I can only really use my right hand, I used a thin, dense, nail brush to paint on the heart (with OPI's So Hot It Berns.)
Finally I layered on a (clear), top coat by Sinful Colors.

...and now for the DIY gift!
I think these are the most special kinds of gifts you can give/receive (and your wallet will be happy too!).
I mentioned before that I don't usually celebrate Valentine's Day and that is because in the past I've baked brownies & cookies and packaged them all with ribbon and candy as gifts--so when I saw this, I knew I wanted to do it!

Simple right?
I got this idea from Ginny, please check out her blog for all the details, she's super sweet and has great posts!
I will be making mine tomorrow. I'll post a picture on Twitter.;o]

What will you guys be doing for Valentine's Day this year?

NOTD: China Glaze Something Sweet

Something Sweet from China Glaze's Up & Away Collection is my favorite pink polish! (...that I own).
It's a pale pink with lavender undertones. The formula for this polish is super creamy and two coats will do.
You can still find this nail polish online, I usually buy mine from Trans Design (HAUL from there coming soon!)

[ My poor fingernails are long overdue for a well deserved manicure so excuse them! (: ]

GIVEAWAY UPDATE: I just want to thank everyone that has joined and participated in the giveaway. I also want to welcome all my new followers! Remember you can enter as many times as you like. Good luck again to everyone!

NOTD: PURE ICE Purple Reign

So I only have a few of the PURE ICE nail polishes, but overall I think the quality is nice and they are very affordable (you can get them at Walmart for about $3). This one in particular is a creamy purple with very tiny, reddish-gold sparkles. It really stands out from other purple polishes I own.

I also want to mention that cherryculture.com is having a 20% Off Everything In Store Sale that started today and ends the 30th. I already placed my order and got some great deals! So check it out if you're interested.

Also, I may be going back and editing a few pictures from older posts. I hope this won't affect your Reading List and updates, it's just for copyright purposes. Have a great day! I'm off to enjoy this gorgeous day and maybe go to the Taste...yumm...

NOTD: China Glaze Peachy Keen

(image from www.beauty4nails-body.co.uk)

Today I'm wearing China Glaze's Peachy Keen from their Up and Away collection.

I had a hard time editing my picture so that the color looked true to the nail polish...after about an hour I gave up and decided to look online for a picture that accurately showed the color.

NOTD: OPI Pink of Hearts

Last weekend I participated in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, so it was only appropriate that I wear my OPI Pink of Hearts nail polish. (: It's a really pretty pastel pink and added a little bit of decoration to my walker outfit hahaha...seriously, one of the best experiences ever!

excuse the chips, I've had this polish on for almost a week. heh heh...

Have any of you ever participated in any type of fundraising event?
