ALYoF - February goal
Before I introduce you to my February goal, please meet my delayed January goal. Scrappy Log cabins wall hanging.
I added one square to one side. It looks a bit wonky but I hope the quilting will take care of it.
And two little ones on the other side. It no longer fits on my wall. Not sure if I'll be making it any wider. I only have few scraps left. We'll see.
Let's move on into February though. I'm going with Envelope organizer as my ALYoF goal.
I only need two envelopes which sounds quite doable. I'm using B&W fabrics and pattern from Patchwork, Please! book.
That is another paper pieced project. Let's party over @ Quilt Art Design
Maybe I should consider this as my Le Challenge project as well since the theme is DOTS! Are you playing along?

Paper Piecing Party
Maybe some of you know I'm not a huge fan of paper piecing but there is a party and I want to be there, lol.
I paper pieced the bird but I did not the other parts as I wanted to try it that way. I just like to do things my way, I guess. The size of wreath is perfect for jelly roll strip and that is exactly what I used.
I'll square that up once quilted. The pattern is by Kristy @ Quiet Play and you can find it in her shop.
If you made anything paper pieced this week, join the party @ Quilt Art Designs. You'll find many original patterns there as well.

Mug rugs detour
Just when some of you commented how well organized I am, things got out of control. Two weeks without sign of creating. Oh well, that's life. We all have one.
Let's talk about my detour. As others I want to use as much of my stash this year as possible. I made those woven hearts last year and they just waited for the right project. I knew the time has come while reading Amanda's post.
I just needed some quick easy project. You can find tutorial for those here.
At first I played with decorative stitch.
I also played with some organic lines. Those are not straight for sure.
I used some batting scraps and the backing are also scraps. Binding is leftover from my previous quilts. I don't really measure when I have enough fabric. I really like this dots and stripes combo.
As I would like to keep that organized image I'm also working on my Q4 list projects. Paper piecing is the thing for next week. See those scraps I created while making the first wreath. I just have to use them for another one.

2015 FAL - Q1 list
Here we go. This is my FAL Q1 list. I made my list in Google Keep style with plenty of boxes to tick off, lol.
#1 - bed side wall hanging. I need to add some small borders around and B side will be finished. The question is: Am I going to be able to make my mind about side A?
#2 - love quilt. I need to get into baste and FMQ mood for this one.
More projects in various stages.
#3 - Lucy hobo bag. See those squares behind my machine.
#4 - super tote. I have the pattern printed. I wanted different fabric last quarter but I'm going with this hexagon Echino, bottom right.
#5 - Christmas robin PP. I'm hoping to finally make it for Christmas 2015.
#6 - Hazel hedgehog quilt. I bought the pattern during Christmas sales and I would love to make it soon.
#7 - envelope organizer. I only have a space for small version but I can already see it up there, lol.

Hippie rug
Today I decided to share my creating process with you. I hope that won't scare away my new followers. It might give you an idea who I really am. First of all I need to find my way. Something I would feel it's mine. Little adjustment, fabric choice, anything goes. I can't help it. It's in my blood system as Lady Gaga would sing I was born this way. Yeah people, just check the characteristics of Aries, it's all in there, lol.
I'm not very good at copying and enlarging that's for sure. My version is not exactly 143% enlarged but I'm fine with that. I'm also not a huge fan of paper piecing and my Aries sign might be the answer. It seems I found an answer for all the questions. It's the sign to blame!
Fabric choice is the key process. I was going for sophisticated sewing theme trivet. Am I the only one who heard the word trivet for the very fist time? Later on I wanted to create something cute. See those goats? Or maybe my usual Gnome combo? I couldn't decide so I just left the whole thing and went to bed early. Better sleep on it.
Well. It didn't help much. The browns were back in the game but not enough to combine. I got enough of B&W .... let's just make little drawing. All this resulted into Hippie rug. As usual the final stage is to doubt my creation. I'm not very keen on hippie. Why did I twist those colors and didn't keep it the way I made the sketch? I don't know! It's the Aries sign!
Moody as I am I like it one minute and hate it the next. Being an Aries is not easy but there are many of us. I believe there are even more than you think. Just check this borrowed line from the characteristics: Stroking their hair and rubbing their scalp will make them feel relaxed and heighten their sensations. Ehmm, not that one. This one: Aries are notorious for not finishing what they have begun.
This post is actually part of Zakka Along 2.0 - WK12 - Happy Hexagon Trivet. Plus I'm happily joining the Paper Piecing Party for once. You should definitely check out what others have created. Pink unicorn is something you don't want to miss! I'm sure Kristy is not an Aries as she's very talented paper pieced maniac. Check it out!

PPP - cup
Party time! This time I would like to join the Paper Piecing Party @ Quiet Play
I'm not a big paper piecing fan. I made only few blocks. This is probably fifth block I'm working on. So I'm still not sure if I like the technique or not. I like the outcome though. That's why I have to share my half way finished block. Isn't that just the pretties cup you ever saw? He he. It's part of June's block from And Sew On BOM. Yeah, Kristy from Quiet Play is all about paper piecing so you might want to drop by if this is your kinda thing. I would probably never start with PP if I didn't follow her blog.
This time around my block is going to be mostly orange. I have the perfect fabric for hexagons. I won this fabric during the BoM. It's real Japanese thing and I used the selvage for the fussy cut strip on the cup. I better finish that soon as the end of June is approaching fast.
