Antny is coming home and a wooden flag

Hello Nice People,
Look at this beautiful wooden flag. Now, if I blog about this flag, AND follow Palmer Falls Primitive BlogPalmer Falls Primitives and leave a comment on her blog, there are three chances that I might win it. I would love it. Cross your fingers!!!!!
Antny is on his way home from Halfway Missouri. Last night he called Mommy on his cell phone. "Mommy, PopPop is asleep so I thought I would call. I'm ready to come home." He gets into Philadelphia 9:30 tonite. You know Mommy will be happy. She said it feels like something is missing and she wants the family back together again. Life is good.

Will Antny stay another week? Mommys not happy

Hello nice people,
Not a whole lot to talk about tonite. Just that it is Summer and I am out on the deck in the back yard with my laptop. Now how COOL is that!? I wish I could take a picture of me but Grandson Anthony is still visiting Missouri and he has my camera. Missouri Grandpop wants him to stay longer, but that would require him to fly back by himself. So now we are having a real tug of war with Mommy on one end and Missouri Grandpop on the other. And Gramps just does not take "No" for an answer. Now Antny says "Yeh, I want to stay" when he is asked, but he might be saying that just to make Grandpop happy. And he also might be afraid to fly home alone. Thats a big step for a ten year old who has never been away from home before. Stay tuned.

I Kept My Dental Appointment

Hello Nice People,
Another celebrity has left the room. That's the third this week. Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett and the King of Pop himself. I never could quite understand just what "POP" is. Another word for soda? The sound that champagne makes when you "pop" the cork? It's sad to lose your life at 50. Especially when you have everything to live for. It just proves that money does not bring happiness.
I love the media. Since yesterday at 2 PM we have been overwhelmed with Michael Jackson. According to the media, the world is trying to come to grips with this death. They say we are in a hysterical frenzy. Hmmmm, I just let the cat out and all is quiet on my street. However Michael, I hope you have found the peace you were always looking for.
I kept my dental appointment. Glad thats over. They said the last time I was there was in 1995. Ooooo, thats bad. But 0ddly enough, very little tarter on my teeth. Now, Hubby goes every three months for a cleaning, he has so much tarter. Somehow, I think I am ahead of the game.

I am going to the DENTIST....YES I AM...YES I AM

Hello Nice People,
I have a confession to make. I do not go to the DENTIST. I have had an aversion to dentists all my long life. Growing up, I was never sent, or in my case, dragged to the dentist. In my young adult years, like when I was first married, I went only because I had a few problems. And even then, I guess I picked the wrong dentist because he made it a very unpleasant experience.
That just added to my list of reasons to stay away. Oddly enough, I never have any problems like toothaches etc. But even I know that I have to stop this silliness and GET TO THE DENTIST!! So today is the day. I have an appointment for 4 this afternoon. And now that I have added this into my blog, I can't back out. Well, its time to putter around the house and think about my appointment. I will come back with good news OR bad news. Lets hope for the best.

My Summer started today

Hello Nice People,

Another Icon of our time....gone! Ed's early years were familiar to me when he used to hawk kitchen gadgets and pots and pans on the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Remember the guys that would slice and dice the vegetables, juice the juicers and give everyone in the front row a free knife. And of course the two young teens in the front, me and Caroline could recite the whole act word for word, we saw it so many times. Goodbye Ed McMahon, Rest in Peace.

Today was the first day of MY Summer. Yep, the last day of school was yesterday. Its great to look outside and there is no big ole school bus taking up space and blocking the view. I parked 2632 in the back lot and didn't even look back. There actually was a time when I got a tear in my eye leaving my bus behind for a few months. That was 32 years ago. September, I start my 33rd year behind the wheel.

Here's my little Grandson, Anthony. His other Grandpop just moved from Jersey to Missouri. He invited Anthony out to visit with him. Ant flew out of Philadelphia this morning and had a layover in Chicago til 5:30 this afternoon. He should be just about getting in to Springfield Airport. Hap, the Grandpop bought some sort of a farm in a place called Halfway, Missouri. He is planning on raising Cattle in this winter of his life. So that is where Anthony is tonite. So Donna and Cliff, or Sugar, if you see him, say "Hello".....he's a good little kid.

I Am Just Thinking

Hello Nice People,
I AM JUST THINKING:
1. The first day of Summer, coming up on June 21st, is also when
the days start to get shorter. I hate when that happens.
2. I have one week and one day til the end of school.
3. What is the big deal with this switch to Digital TV. They have talked
about it for a year. Today was the big day and I don't see any
difference.
4. Chasity Bono is going to become a man. Give me a break.
5. Sara Palin and David Letterman........Shut up, both of you.
6. Hubby is going fishing tomorrow......all day.....Yippee!!!!!!!
7. I wish Carole, my girlfriend, would make amends with her
daughters. I worry about them.
8. I hope Michael Vick never gets a job.
9. Should I spend money on new curtains or go up in the attic and find
a perfectly good pair and reuse them. Hmmmmmm
10. Should I consider this a blog entry or delete it?
Have a nice day.

The Thrill of Blogging

Hello Nice People,
Donna from Just Me talks about a subject in the New York Times: When the thrill of Blogging is Gone.
"According to a 2008 survey by Technorati, which runs a search engine for blogs, only 7.4 million out of the 133 million blogs the company tracks had been updated in the past 120 days. That translates to 95 percent of blogs being essentially abandoned. When surfing through blogs, it seems there are many that haven't been touched in months and sometimes a few years. I have seen people here in my little world who have dissappeared, never to be heard from again. Whatever happened to Christine from My Struggling Life? It makes one wonder if they are alright or is it just a case of a crashed computer. Finding time for THIS blog is sometimes a chore. At times it gets to be a JOB. If I don't get to it for a few weeks, I begin to worry about it. And who needs more worries?

When I got my first computer, I spent a great deal of time in the Crochet Chat Room. I got to know a lot of nice people. We even had a meetup at Hershey Park. Then my interest started to wain and I eventually abandoned the chat room. Now I don't even Email my family and friends. Its easier to pick up the phone and talk to them. I have thought of abandoning this blog at times, especially when there is absolutely nothing new in a lowly bus drivers life. But I DO enjoy reading blogs and especially the little group that I follow.

Well, thats not always true, sometimes I just spend way too much time on this blogging stuff. And I have always kept my blogging away from my family. But the Grandson, Nick, is just too clever and he found it. So now I have to keep it kind of generic. I will stay around awhile. As long as I don't bore too many people to death. When I do, I hope someone will let me know.

Look What I Got At A Yard Sale

Hello Nice People,

Now, I am not normally a yard saler. Not one of those persons that spends Saturday Morning perusing the neighborhood for bargains in everyones front or back yard. But this morning, I had a 9 o'clock appointment for a hair cut, and on the way, there they were.....signs that said "20 house yard sale." So I DID stop and spent one whole dollar. For that I got a cute cat lamp and two old cook books.

I think that was pretty much a bargain, unless you figure that I didn 't NEED any of them.

Yesterday was daughters birthday. Oh no!!! How could my little girl possibly be 41 years old. No Way.....

We had nothing planned, but I couldn't let the day go by and do nothing, so we took a little ride to a really good Diner and had dinner. Me, Hubby, the two kids and the birthday girl. We had a nice dinner and before we left, the waitress overheard the word "birthday" so she got the full treatment of a piece of cake and the bevy of waitresses singing Happy birthday. Mel was a waitress for years herself and she has told me in the past how they hate that part where they have to stop everything they are doing and sing Happy Birthday 10 times a night.

Here is a picture of the ole girl from one night last week. We watched the kids while they took a little night at the casinos.

That night, they planned on the buffet and just taking in the sights. Us "Locals" rarely go to the Casinos so this was a little treat and an ocassion to get out of the house and unwind. And not spend money they don't have.
She said, as they were walking around, an older couple, (about 55-60 LOL) beckoned them....."Come on over, go to the show with us, we have 2 extra tickets." Of course her hubby was on his way and Mel was saying, "Shane, we don't know those people." But they DID go, and were treated to a Beatles Show that she said was "Soooo good." The older couple was from New York and as she put it, you could tell they were well off. And they were just happy that someone was making good use of the tickets. Mel said they met 2 nice people who expected nothing and were happy to have them for company.

I am watching the Belmont Stakes horse race while blogging. It should be interesting just to see if Calvin Borell can win the Triple crown as a rider only. Otherwise, I don't know if I like the idea of horse racing. They make me so nervous when they run so hard on those little spindly legs. But what do I know. I like the way Calvin dedicates his wins to his deceased parents after every ride. He is from Calahojula, Louisiana, whereever that is. He has met the President and the Queen of England. What a story!!!!
