Spellbinders | Holiday Cards and Tags feat. Essential Holiday Collection by Lisa Horton

I'm back with some Spellbinders projects featuring the Essential Holiday Collection by Lisa Horton. One of the products featured on all of these projects is the Nested Tree Frames and I was immediately enamoured with the adorable layered tree die!

The Nested Tree Frames includes four layers of frames and I used the two largest frames here, in Mahogany and Crimson. I cut the tree from Pink Sand, Ruby Linen, Silver Glitter and Mahogany cardstock.

Before assembling the card, I used Mulled Wine ink to press the sentiment from the Essential Tag Accessories Press Plate on to the previously die cut rectangle from Nested Tree Frames. I cut an A2 panel of Ruby Gingham for the card base before popping on the frames and trees with foam squares.

For my second card, I wanted a pop of colour to contrast the first card so I chose Waterfall for the card base. I added texture using the Sparkling Snow 3D Embossing Folder. Next, I die cut the Nested Tree layers from Pink SandRuby LinenRuby GinghamCrimson and Mahogany cardstock. The ornaments I added to the trees were cut from Silver Glitter cardstock.

I heat foiled this beautiful sentiment from the Glitter Wishes Glimmer Hot Foil Plate using Espresso Bean Hot Foil on Snowdrift cardstock and die cut it using one of the fishtail dies from Mini Everyday Sentiments

I was so excited to see a tag set as part of the Essential Holiday Collection and the Essential Tag Accessories Press Plates will get lots of use! I used the same colours from the first two cards, switching up the look of the trees with colourful snowy trims. I rotated the colours for the tags themselves so each tag would feature all the colours.

The sentiments from the Essential Tag Accessories Press Plate were heat foiled with both Espresso Bean Hot Foil and Matte Silver Hot Foil. The 'O Christmas Tree' sentiment was a little long for the die cut so I used partial die cutting to extend it. To finish, I combined Valentine's Day baker's twine and silver metallic cord for the perfect match.

Spellbinders | August 2024 Stitching Die of the Month - Stitched Colorful Palette

Hello, crafty friends! Today, I'm showcasing the last of the August 2024 Monthly Club Kits from Spellbinders. This card features the "Stitched Colourful Palette" Stitching Die of the Month with a sentiment from the "Colorful Splash" Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month. Club Kits close on the 27th of each month so get them while you can!

The Stitched Colourful Palette is actually a 3.25" x 6.25" mini slimline size but I decided to use part of it on an A2 card. I really wanted to use white foil or mirror cardstock but didn't have any on hand so I stuck with regular white cardstock.

After I created the palette itself, I die cut the paint brushes from Onyx and Mirror Silver cardstock. After choosing my colour palette based on inspiration from page 97 of Lauren Wager's Palette Perfect, I die cut the paint blocks and brush tips from Velvet Rose, LemongrassGlacier, and EvergreenSpellbinders' Velvet Rose is now retired but exact alternates are Pencil Eraser or Raspberry Sorbet.

Spellbinders' DMC Color Essentials Cool Floss Bundle includes DMC162 which is an exact colour match for Glacier cardstock but I had to make a special trip to my local art store for the other three and found DMC223 for Pencil Eraser, DMC472 for Lemongrass and DMC501 for Evergreen. This last one wasn't an exact match but it's close enough and, as a bonus, I think it will work with several other dark green cardstocks that I have in my stash.

To finish the card, I use the largest of the Precision Layering A2 A Dies to cut a piece of Lilly White Gingham-Linen Petite Prints for the base panel. This colour is included in the Doodlebug Gingham-Linen Petite Prints 12 x 12" Cardstock Paper, available from Spellbinders. After glueing the palette and paint brushes to the panel and trimming off the overhanging excess, I added a sentiment from which I heat foiled with Pewter Hot Foil on Glacier cardstock and trimmed it using the small fishtail banner from Mini Everyday Sentiments.

Spellbinders | Spooky Fun with Zombie Pandas

Hello, my lovelies! If you know me, you know about my lifelong adoration for pandas and ever since I received Spellbinders' Dancin' Birthday Panda, I've wanted to make a Halloween version. As soon as the Happy Hour Collection was released and I saw the skeleton hand and drips from Boos! Cocktails, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I'm not into horror flicks but I do love a good zombie thriller, especially when there's a good plot or overall storyline. Besides, these pandas are way too cute to be scary, even when dripping with blood or being snatched by a giant claw. LOL

The kept the colour palette very neutral and moody, including Snowdrift, Onyx, Pink SandChili Pepper (a great replacement for Spellbinders' retired Pomegranate cardstock) and Glitter Red cardstock for the pandas, Alabaster for the skulls and hand, Portobello for the card base, plus a piece of Doodlebug Gingham-Linen Rainbow Petite Prints for the hill.

I used a blending brush and Frayed Burlap ink to add some depth to the skulls and hands. I also cut a second layer to give them extra strength and dimension. I used Glitter Red behind the panda eyes to give them that bloodshot look, except the sparkle makes it cute!

The sentiment from All Seasons Autumn was heat foiled with White Hot Foil on Onyx cardstock. I also added two layers of Portobello die cuts underneath for dimension before glueing it on to the card base.

I used the Color Block Scenic Dies to create the hill from Beetle Black Gingham, available separately, or in the full Doodlebug Gingham-Linen Rainbow Petite Prints. Since those dies are only 5.5" long, I extended it by cutting it a second time for this 3.5" x 6.5" mini slimline format.

You can find all of the products from both the Happy Hour Collection and Exclusive All Seasons Collection by clicking HERE or on the banner below, as well as products from other releases that I've been sharing with you over the last couple of weeks.

Here's a list of other Dancin' Birthday Panda cards I've made which show the versatility of this little cutie:

Spellbinders | July 2024 Monthly Club Kits

Hello, crafty friends! Today, I'm showcasing the July 2024 Monthly Club Kits from Spellbinders. The first card features the "Stitched All Wrapped Up" Stitching Die of the Month and the second card features the "Joyful Holly" Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month. Club Kits close on the 27th of each month so get them while you can!

I was inspired by a colour palette on page 142 of Lauren Wager's Palette Perfect, Vol. 2 and used the same colours on both cards. Essentially, the Stitched All Wrapped Up is for holiday cards but I love that bows are so versatile, this product can be used year-round!

Both the products and the colours inspired this retro design. The cardstock I used include Concord & 9th Dragonfruit, Lemongrass, Nutmeg and Silver Glitter Paper as an accent, plus Simon Says Stamp Fog Gray for the card base.

I cut the bow from Dragonfruit cardstock, stitched it with Dark Cranberry 301 from the DMC Color Essentials Warm Bundle and set the pieces aside to work on the background.

After cutting the Fog Gray card base and glueing the Lemongrass hoops, I randomly glued circles die cut from Nutmeg and Silver Glitter Paper. The patterns on the bottom are mirrored on the top half of the card.

After assembling the bow on the card base with a combination of double-sided tape and foam squares, I heat foiled a sentiment from Mini Everyday Sentiments, using Espresso Bean Hot Foil on Fog Gray cardstock and popped it on to the card with foam strips.

My second card features the the "Joyful Holly" Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month. I don't usually get too much of a head start on my holiday cards but I love that I've added this one to my stash! Plus, I almost never use brown so this is probably the most prominent brown will ever be featured on one of my cards.

I started by heat foiling the Joyful Holly with Espresso Bean Hot Foil on Fog Gray cardstock. Then I used Concord & 9th Dragonfruit, Lemongrass and Avocado inks to colour the image using the coordinating Joyful Holly Stencil, which is one of the BONUS items in The Deluxe Caboodle Value Club this month!

I repeated this process and die cut them using the die included in this month's kit. Then I set them aside while I cut a 4 x 5.25" Fog Gray panel. Next, I cut a panel of Gingham Bubblegum from the Doodlebug Gingham-Linen Rainbow Petite Prints 12x12"Cardstock Paper Pack

I wanted the pink darker to match the bow on the other card so I ink blended some Dragonfruit ink on the edges before glueing the panel down. To finish the card, I heat embossed the sentiment using Speckled Prism Hot Foil on Nutmeg cardstock. I layered a shadow cut from Silver Glitter Paper and popped on the sentiment with foam squares.

I've never worked with this colour palette before and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the brown fit into it. I actually tried to use as little of it as possible but, as noticeable as it is, I really love how these cards turned out.

Here's a list of monthly club kits I share, as well as some of the value kits offered by Spellbinders:

Lawn Fawn | Anniversary Card

Hi, lovely friends! Today, I'm sharing the cutest card that my son made for our 20th wedding anniversary last month. Damian used THIS card that I made for my husband as his inspiration. If you don't know the Squishmallow Avery story, you can read more HERE and HERE about why we're obsessed and why our birds are often coloured like male mallards. ;)

Damian stamped and coloured 20 adorable birds, one for each year of marriage, from Simply Celebrate Critters using the Copic markers listed below. Then he added white gel pen accents just like I did on my existing card.

After die cutting the birds, he set those aside and stamped two speech bubbles from Dad Jokes and filled them with sentiments from Virtual Friends Add-On.

Next, he cut a card base from Surf Blue cardstock, plus a matching frame using the Stitched Rectangle Frames dies. Before popping all the die cuts on to the card base, Damian stamped a sentiment from the Party Animal stamp set.

After all the die cuts were arranged with small foam squares, Damian added three enamel hearts in three shades of pink-red for a pop of colour. I really love his cute and clever design to use one bird for each year of marriage!

Spellbinders | 20th Anniversary Card feat. a Beaver and a Panda!

My husband and I celebrated our Champagne Anniversary yesterday! If you're not familiar with this term, a Champagne Anniversary or Champagne Birthday is when the number of years matches the date that the occasion falls on. We celebrated 20 years of marriage on March 20th and it's a big deal so this called for a very special card, of course! ;)

I used several of my favourite Spellbinders products on this 4.25x6" card, including the Dancin' Birthday Panda, Let's Celebrate Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set and, of course, the Cherry sheet from the Doodlebug Gingham-Linen Rainbow Petite Prints 12x12" Cardstock Paper Pack.

Wait, what? Is that a beaver, you say? Yes... yes, it is! Did Spellbinders release a beaver die?! No, I dreamt it up using the Dancin' Birthday Panda and the Dancin' Birthday Monster! I'll tell you how I did it but, first, I wanted to let you know that after using the panda a few times, I noticed something shocking - she doesn't have a jacket! So I basically cut two panda torsos and used that die to make a second cut across that the second black piece to create her little jacket. Now she looks like a real panda. ;)

Now for the beaver. If you're familiar with the Dancin' Birthday Monster, you'll noticed that most of the parts are from the monster. I partially die cut the body and bottom of the head from the monster die. To finish the head, I used the top of the panda's head so that they were joined. However, the ears were too big and wide for the monster's head, and beavers have small ears, so I trimmed around the panda ears to create a smooth connection to the rest of the monster's head. The beaver's tail was created from the panda's torso and the Diamond Plaid Embossing Folder.

Let's talk about that sentiment though. I love how it turned out and I can't stop looking at it. I mean, I also can't stop jiggling the card and making this couple dance! LOL Since the sentiments are from Let's Celebrate Sentiments Press Plate, they were meant to be BetterPressed, but I decided to heat foil them. I used Cobalt Blue Hot Foil for the bottom two lines and Gold Hot Foil for the anniversary part. The bit of overlap is just so cool!

To finish the card, I cut out Smart Glasses in frames that look exactly like my glasses and my husband's glasses. I was desperate to fit in the numbers and decided to use the small Be Bold Lowercase Alphabet and Numbers as balloons. The gold string is Light Gold DMC Diamant Grande Metallic Thread.
