A couple of weeks ago I saw something on the news that I found totally ridiculous and downright disturbing.  If you have a little one in your life, whether she/he is your own son/daughter or your niece or grandchild, I am sure you know and love the book:  Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See?  Don't you love this book???  And who is reading it?  We are.  To our dear little ones.  And what does it teach?  Colors!!  I remember discovering this gem when Kristin was less than two.  Oh how we loved this book.  It's still in our house.  Ryan likes it too!  It's in pretty good shape, considering it has survived 3 children.  So far there is nothing disturbing or ridiculous about this is there??  Of course not. What is ridiculous is that (sorry Texans)for now this book and another one called Ethical Marxism:  The Categorical Imperative of Liberation are not being included in the state of Texas' curriculum. W...

I invited you to ask me questions, and you delivered.  Here are the answers everyone wants to know.  Okay maybe not everyone.  Read on and enjoy! Do you remember the name of the song we chose for a radio dedication to our three "friends"? ;)   Honestly, no.  I don't even remember doing it.  Did it get played???  LOL Good or bad or funny - Are you turning into your mother? How? Good:  It is good that I am turning into my mother.  She is a smart lady.   Bad:  Darn knees and then there is that whole senility thing. Funny:  We share a brain.  Which is sad, because we always lose it.     When have you/do you most feel like you are a good mom? When I can stay calm and keep my voice even in one of those situations that you might otherwise be screaming.  When they are sick, and I can put everything BUT them on hold.  When I can make them laugh.  Those are my "good mom" moments. what are 3 things...

Everything was Green

Yesterday for Saint Patrick's Day we all wore our traditional green.  Did you know the reason you wear green is so that the leprechauns can't see you?  If you don't wear green, then they can see you and they will pinch you.  Which is where pinching people when they aren't wearing green comes from.  Well none of us wanted to be seen so we all wore green. I felt my food was in danger as well.  So I made us a cake.  green of course.  Then I frosted it...                                   Green frosting of course How about.....              Green......   Rice!!! Kristin was in awe that I actually dyed the rice green.  She was a little uneasy about the safety of the rice.  I assured her it was safe to eat.  Th...

I Forgot!

I knew it was coming.  I kept meaning to check the date.  But life just gets in the way of things, and I forgot.  Maybe if I had taken two seconds to look...I would have realized.  Well, better late than never I guess... It's my blogoversary!!  Technically, I started it August of 2007 with the intent to make an account of our journey across the country.  That didn't pan out to well.  In fact, only 2 entries were ever posted.  Which is too bad, since it really was quite a little (long) adventure!!!  And then, my cousin and his family moved here.  Our sons, and his wife and I all became fast friends.  I am talking about Emmy.   If you haven't been to her blog before, go and look around.  It was through her that I was brought back into the blogging world.  I began posting and haven't stopped.  I thoroughly enjoy it.  The connections I have made, and the freedom to write a little something each day.  So, ...

20 Questions

Image
Last week I posted about Rich's birthday, and mentioned I made a cake with diet coke.  There was some interest in that recipe, so here it is in a nutshell.  You can buy any box cake and replace the water and oil with a can of diet soda.  For the chocolate, I used diet coke.  For a white cake I would recommend diet cream soda.  For a spice cake, diet ginger ale.  Aside from the diet soda, follow the recipe and the cake turns out yummy and it is now very low in fat.  Bonus!  I also have a recipe for a poke cake.  You can find that one here .  It is very tasty and again, very low in fat!  The serving size is quite big.  The poke cake needs to stay in the fridge. Now normally on this day I would pose a question. However in the light of the fact that I have gained some new followers, I thought I would turn over the questioning to you.  I have seen a few other bloggers doing this and it was well received.   So, ask ...
