The fact that you made this as a solo dev is astonishing, the art is great, the sound design is fantastic, the setting is spooky and the gameplay is fun too, well done! I had lots of fun playing through it. At first I was confused why the turn timer reset sometimes but if ended up understanding correctly the basic 1 spell doesn't reset timers but every other one does. Either way super cool game, though it might be a bit too rng dependent sometimes. perhaps a slay the spire-esqe enemy intention popup would be good to experiment with?
Love the style. The music is great. I feel like the battle against the bigger seraph(?) was a little too dependant on rng. Or maybe I just sucked or misunderstood some mechanics, that's also possible.
Thank you for playing!
I'll probably balance that fight a bit more, but it was meant to be sort of a difficulty increase where you have to really use strategy and wait for your cards to grow stronger before attacking. But I see what you mean! I’ll work on it if I ever continue with this. :)
The art and music is fantastic - great atmosphere and design overall.
I actually ran out of time to add all the music I wanted to haha, but thanks so much!
I'll be sure to check out your submission too!
The atmosphere and music really sets the mood.
It's stylish and scary at the same time.
Had a lot of fun playing it. Thanks for making it!!!!
Thank you so much! I’m glad it was a bit scary ^^
Loved it! The vibe and the art was awesome. Loved the game mechanics.
Was hard to tell that the healing pick ups were healing me cuz of the delay and also I didn't realize til later they were hearts.
Really great game!
Thanks so much!
I see what you mean! I'll definitely make the delay shorter on the heal. Thanks for playing :')
I love the mood and the visuals (the 3d art is so cute and the flat rendering is perfect for it, and the character design is the perfect mix of cute and creepy). The card mechanics for battles is really ambitious and I'm impressed at how well it turned out! Great game.
Thank you! I was worried the card mechanics wouldn't work out so that means a lot. :)
It's got a lot of soul. Lovely home cooked artwork and mood, I like the terrifying depiction of angels. Fun gameplay that is easy to get into, and teaches as you go. Wonderful package overall, very well done!
Aw thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it! I'll be sure to check out your submission too :)
Very stylish looking game! Though I would think of another term to use for the "turn cost", since it confused me. As I understand it, it's actually more of a mana cost (with you simply gaining 1 mana every turn), not a turn cost. Using a spell with 0 turn costs still ends your turn, using a spell with 2 turn cost still just ends 1 turn (your enemy only gets 1 turn before it's your turn again).
Oh my gosh "mana" would have been such a better word, thank you! I was also struggling to describe it well enough, it might be the sleep deprivation though..
Thank you for playing! I'll be sure to check out yours as well :)
Great concept! I like deck building games, glad to see another in this jam!
Two feeback on the game, I'm not sure if discarding has any negative effects. I seemed to be able to discard as many cards as I wanted, which is a strange balancing choice. Second, the game could *barely* fit on my laptop screen. I didn't see a fullscreen button, but I would've appreciated one 😅
Ah let me see if I can still add a fullscreen option..
You die if you discard all of your cards actually haha..
Discarding is essential because you can only see four random cards from your deck at once and if you'd like to select another random card you need to get rid of one. Once you run out of cards you die.. so it's a bit of a balancing act. (It becomes more important once you learn spells and have a bunch of cards, you might need to discard a few to get the one you want)
At least that was the intention.. :') Thanks for the feedback!
I love everything about the card combat. It's EXTREMELY stylish and well paced. Terrific job.
Thank you so much! I was so worried I wouldn't have time to refine the pacing and balancing, but i'm glad :')
