- Swarm building concept fits the theme well and is a smart interpretation. Found the combination of cards a little confusing at times, especially just jumping in. There is a lot to learn about the game which makes the short demo difficult. I'd play this more in the future. Make more games!

Fathomless Waters is a card-based strategy game all about arranging powerful swarms of strange creatures by trying to satisfy their transformation conditions, while doing the opposite to your enemies.
In it, you will be drawing & deploying creatures onto the field, near other creatures. Each creature has a points-value it will provide to your total attack power, but only when its transformation condition is met.
By tactically linking your creatures so they transform and carefully considering where to place them so they defeat or revert the transformations of the most imminent dangers, you'll be able to overcome the massive swarm of creepy, mutating critters you are facing.
Extra Notes
This game is not easy & you might find yourself feeling a bit overwhelmed at the start of an encounter. But that's exactly the point. At its core, the game is meant to be about dealing with a daunting, overwhelming task.
But it's also meant to showcase how, if you actually take a moment to stop & look at the smaller parts that make up that seemingly insurmountable task, you'll find that this "hopeless" situation you think you've found yourself in, starts to look a lot more doable.

Quite a good puzzle game with lots of poential for cool further levels and mechanics. I really enjoyed the levels you made, I found myself in the last level doing a single 1 attack first so that 2 neighboring will activate one of my own, since they have odd values. And thats not even mentioning the cool aesthetic of the game. the creatures look great and make me wonder what messed up laboratory we're in haha
Thank you! Using the single 1 attack to create odd cards was exactly the strategy I had in mind for that level, so I'm really glad you were able to figure that out on your own!
Wow, this took a really long time to get the hang of. It was really satisfying when I cleared the enemy critters. I've only managed to clear the first encounter though. I like the creepy ominous vibes. The artwork is top-notch and the sound effects and music really help with the tone. Overall, well done!
Thanks! Just played Mix-It Merlin and man, what a charming, groovy game! Great job to you as well!
This was a tough one for me. The main issue I had was I had a bunch of cards with the condition "allied swarm has < 4 cards" and that transformation condition did not fulfill with fewer than 4 cards on the map or fewer than 4 cards in my hand. I didn't try fewer than 4 cards in both, but since my hand was mostly made up of those cards, that would have made the hand pretty useless. Reading through the descriptions again I think I understand how the game should be played and I just got dealt a crappy hand. But that resulted in me having 1 hp after the first turn, so I didn't think I could win at all. I'm bad at a lot of these card games so I'm a player who needs extra hand holding in the descriptions to make it work :)
Hi, thanks for checking out my game! The "allied swarm has < 4 cards" simply means having less than 4 of your cards on the field, like you thought, so I'm pretty sure it was activated (if the card shows non-0 points + has a green sprite & points-outline, it's activated), but you might just not have fully understood what that meant (it means the card will contribute points to your total attack power & make it so its neighboring enemies get attacked). I get that this kind of game really benefits from an in-game tutorial, but within the jam time limit that was sadly not something I could manage. Also, I'm a little confused on how you could possibly have 1 hp after the first turn though, since in encounter 1 there are only 4 attacking enemies, so you can only lose max 4 out of 8 of your cards.
Cool game. It took me a little while to understand (and I'm still not sure if I do fully) but I beat the first encounter. The swarm mechanic is really interesting and unique. Also the visuals are great, I love the way the goo in the vial cards sloshes around. Nice work!
Thanks! Glad to hear you were able to get the hang of it!
